Originally a Jersey girl, sunny Texas is where I now call home, in a town way up north in the panhandle called Wellington. Along with the man of my dreams, I have two children: a rambunctious little girl and a sweet but vocal little boy. Three cats, three dogs and an inordinate amount of pet hair complete my household. For fun I like to read YA, horror, and existentialist fiction, as well as watch cartoons, movies, and sometimes even cartoon movies. I try not to take anything in life too seriously and I tend to smile often.

Sexy, supernatural, super-powered suspense. I just can’t get enough of Katherine (Kate) Godfrey, Kat Stiles, and the Modified series. It’s like Lemonheads candy. Once I open a box, I keep eating until they’re all done. Addictive this series is, fast-paced, furious, and funny. Stiles never fails to push the envelope on the diversity tip as she combines a precise first-person POV with a wicked sex scene that will set your pages on fire. Bring water for multiple reasons. Sexy Viola’s back in a big way, Steve is revealed, and we finally meat the big guy. Oh, how I hate ’im. But you’ll love Modified: Volume Three. I guarantee.

This is the third book in the Modified series and our protagonist Kate is working towards understanding why she has changed; finding herself in dark secret labs and suchlike. In this chapter she gets some answers. This series has a surreal and cyber punky tone that is quite appealing. I’m from Scarborough so the Jersey riffs, cursing, sex and darkness more or less roll off my back. This is the first of Kat Stiles installments where I questioned her decision to serialize the story. And the reason has to do with flow, and reader interupptus. I get pissed off every time it ends – too soon. Yes, that is probably a sign of engagement on my part but it still grates… And this series is still worth a look; lots of fun from an irreverent writer.
