Anger and violence shock the Dimarco family in this thrilling story of a man drowning in guilt and the forgiveness he finds in the woman next door.

One. Terrifying. Night.

That’s all it took to change everything Jake Dimarco knew and believed. After watching his brother gunned down in a parking lot and learning his ex-girlfriend had played a part in that attack, Jake has to make some tough decisions about his life and his son.

After all there’s no one to blame but himself.

Moving into a new home with his son is supposed to be a fresh start, a way to begin building the life for them that his son deserves.

And he intends to do that alone.

But his family has other plans.

Elaina Jones loves her life, although at times it can be somewhat lonely. That all changes after Jake moves next door and the entire Dimarco family decides to make her their business. Her once quiet life becomes loud, filled with laughter and new friends. No matter how much she tries to deny her feelings for Jake, their connection is too strong, their chemistry too intense.

But not everyone is happy that Elaina has become part of the family.
With a gunman at large and Jake’s past proving dangerous, he makes choices to right the many wrongs he feels he’s guilty of and to keep his family safe. But those decisions come at the expense of himself and the woman who’s become more important to him than he ever believed she could.

Together will they be able to survive one person’s vengeance and their frightening need to destroy Jake and Elaina?

Or is there a time when even love just isn’t enough?

This is the fourth book in The Dimarco Series. Can be read as a standalone.

2.5 Slow Start Stars
Elaina is the fourth book in the Dimarco series which follows a large loving family made up of several brothers and their little sister. If you read my reviews, it should not come as a surprise that I didn’t’ read the previous books (I have book commitment issues), but I never felt lost. I’m assuming they provided more backstory on Jake and his awful ex, but the h is new to the scene, so we’re around for their beginning.

The book opens with Jake’s brother (Luke) being shot that is a little his fault and a lot of his ex’s. He’s not in a good place and decides to close off his heart because his ex has ruined any chance of him ever wanting a relationship. Enter Elaina (Lainie) his quirky new next-door neighbor with self-esteem issues.

This wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t a riveting read either. The flow was really slow. It takes almost halfway for them to get together, and nothing significant occurs until roughly the 60% mark. And there’s a fair amount of family, kid, dog, BFF, and long-lost dad filler. Eventually, stuff happens that could’ve/should’ve churned up buckets of drama, but it generated few feels for me. The secondary characters were good (the kid & dog were likable), but the main characters were duds… and the crazy ex is rarely around.

Bottom Line- I needed more emotion from the mc’s and more drama. It took so long to get to the juicy parts, and when they finally arrive… they’re not super … because it’s all brushed over with very little sentiment.

Spoilers ahead

1* for Bray
1* for Beasley the heroic dog
1* for the DiMarcos who truly are a wonderful family

0* for the mcs 😂

Sighhhhhhh, the bare Bones of these stories are so appealing that I can't help but read them but then things happen in the books that end up disappointing me.

Jake s dealing with the aftermath of Luke being shot because of Jake's ex. He's drowning in guilt and has sworn off women.....just as he moves in next door to sweet as pie Lainie. Jake tries to fight the pull he feels towards her but as his son tumbles head over heels for Lainie Jake is right there with him. Unfortunately his toxic ex refuses to stay gone.

Sighhhhhhh where do I begin......

Little things that occurred when Jake met Lainie upset me, by the second time he saw her he couldn't remember her name, he thought her friend was beautiful and stared after the friend when she walked away. Now those are tiny things admittedly, but the DiMarcos usually feel the connection with their women almost immediately and though Jake felt it with Lainie I just didn't like that little scene.

Lainie reminded me of Faye Goodnight from KA's Breathe, actually Jake reminded me of the H of that book as well, which honestly did not bode well for Jake or Lainie. I thought Lainie's quirky, awkward, babbling manner was cute. I started off liking her and giggling every time she blushed or had a klutzy moment, until Lainie started dating Tyler and basically turned into a cheater. She'd been on a couple dates with Tyler, admitted that she liked him, kissed him and after Jake's hot and cold treatment of her she decided to go all in with Tyler.........until Jake turned his attention back on to her. She couldn't resist him, at all and her internal plans to be strong melted just as quickly as her knees did every time he came around. Tyler thankfully broke up with her and just so the reader wouldn't think badly of little Lainie........Tyler turns out to be a bad guy 🤦

Jake was hot and cold with Lainie for quite a while and just.....Just as I thought things had finally settled down he was asked to pretend to date his ex so they could get the necessary info for their case. Now not only is he to date the ex he's also not to tell Lainie anything, off course she finds them together thereby breaking her heart. I felt this was unnecessary, I'd think Lainie was intelligent enough to be told what was going on and stay away from Jake until it was over. The situation still wouldn't have been ideal but at least Lainie would've been treated as a mature adult capable of comprehending the situation and making a choice.

On the other hand I adored Bray and Lainie's relationship with him. One of the things I love about this series are the children and the relationship between them and the adults of this series.

Beasley, Lainie's dog was another of my favorite"characters" in this book. I loved the huge couch potato who could and did turn into a fiercely protector for his master but was an adorable companion to Bray

Again I adore this family and the new additions like Pike and had been really hopeful for these books. I think I'll do a reread to see if my feelings change, especially of this one as maybe the Chase/Faye flashbacks traumatized me too much to allow me to fully enjoy this one. All for now I'm moving on to Grace's story hoping for the best.

From previous books I remember Jake as being pretty experienced, until he hooked up with psycho ass Julie
Lainie only had one sex partner before Jake
Lainie was mostly shy and socially awkward but she had some first moments
Ex drama
Lainie dated and kissed OM
Jake pretended to date his ex
Lainie was physically assaulted
Attempted kidnapping of kids

Jake Dimarco is trying to deal with the incident that happened at the end of Gianna and wants nothing to do with a relationship, thanks to the horror his ex-girlfriend was and remains. His focusing on his adorable son – Bray. Bray’s interactions with Lainie were lovely, he is seriously cute. Elaina (Lainie) Jones, as an introvert finds comfort in books, her work and being at home, she’s not a social butterfly and tries to keep her head down, but when Jake moves in next door, his family refuse to leave her be, and her outgoing best-friend finds pleasure in nudging her towards Jake.

Jake, does try to keep away, but his little boy adores Lainie and her dog (Beasley), and without him realising it, Lainie sneaks under his skin without even trying. The addition of Lainie’s dog to a few scenes led to some amusement, sure he's generally a coach potato but when he decides not to be, watch out (as Ben learns)! I do think that the author could have utilised Lainie’s shyness and her dog to create some really humorous scenes, whilst I smiled a lot, I think the author missed some key opportunities to make the reader/me laugh hard.

I did have an issue with what Jake’s brothers asked him to do, there had to be a better way of going about things with the same outcome e.g. going to Luke, but luckily this didn’t ruin my overall enjoyment of the book. Jake in previous books has been the source of comic relief so seeing different facets of his characters in this book was lovely, once he stops being an ass (luckily fairly quickly), I enjoyed him as a character and the guy for Lainie, and like his brothers when the woman he is in-love with is in danger his protective instincts go on red alert.

The dual POV in this book like the other books in the series was a smart move by the author and ensures each book engages you and has a nice dimension to it. I do wish the ending had been teased out/layered a bit more here, but only slightly.

Jake’s back and forth when it came to Lainie annoyed me a fair bit, but Lainie and her kindness, Beasley, cute Bray, as well as the Dimarco clan/family mean this was a lovely light 4 star read for me, one I think I will re-read.

A very enjoyable episode in the Dimarco Series. Jake is trying to deal with the incident that happened at the end of Gianna and wants nothing to do with a relationship. Lainie sneaks under his skin without even trying. I did have an issue with what his bothers asked him to do. There had to have been another way to get the same result. Going right to Luke's book!

Often in books, you come across amazing families and you can't just help but wish that you could be a part of their family as no matter what is thrown their way, they just keep things down to earth and the love and banter are just so strong and beautiful. For me, one of those bookish families is The DiMarco's. Each book, just makes me want to be a part of this family even more as they have this amazing bond and the author has written them with such genuineness and sincerity. The start of this book is the carry-on from Book #3 with the aftermath of the shooting which saw Luke land in the hospital. Jake feels so guilty as it was his fault that Luke was shot as it was his toxic baby mama at play again. Now Jake has moved into a new house with Brayden and Julie is on the run again, for now. Since Luke is police, she has the whole force looking for her, not to mention the rest of the DiMarco brothers and extended family. Next door neighbor Elaina has no family and tends to be a homebody and prefers her dog's company as she is awkward around people. I liked Elaina's character as she was fun and quirky and reminded me a bit of myself. Elaina isn't normally Jake's type, but that's because he hasn't ever thought long-term, and Elaina is family material. They say kids are a great judge of character and in Elaina, Brayden - Jake's son just immediately attaches himself to Elaina and she just slots in perfectly with the DiMarco family. What happens though when Julie decides to return and this time she has reinforcements and not just wants to hurt Jake this time but also Elaina? Find out in Book #4 of the DiMarco series by Jennifer Hanks.

Elaina by Jennifer Hanks is book Four in The Dimarco Series. This is the story of Jake Dimarco and Elaina 'Laney' Jones. I have read the previous books, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Laney is a shy, bookish type girl who feels better behind a computer than meeting new people...especially men. But her best friend is the total opposite of her and helps her to get better about getting out of her shell. Laney finds herself totally attracted to her new neighbor Jake and finds his son very adorable. But Jake runs hot and cold with his emotions so she is never sure where she is at. Jake is coming off a bad 'break up' from his son's mother who was very mean and uncaring to their son. She also cause his brother to be shot which leads to Jake feeling guilty about it and doesn't think he deserves anyone as good as Laney.
Jake does make you question his back and forth feelings but Laney wins the show with her funny and caring personality.

3.5 stars, was gifted a copy of this book. Should've asked questions before reading. This is the third book in the series, it my be a stand alone but having the background on the family would have made the experience better. Enjoyed the plot, the ending was a little abrupt hoping to get answers in the next book.

Another amazing book! This is Jake and Elainas story and wow is it intense! Jake isn’t looking for love dealing with his sons mom after everything she’s done is the last thing on his mind. Elaina hasn’t had a good life being raised by not her parents and just having her dog and her job a relationship is not in her thoughts until meeting the new neighbor. The chemistry between Jake and Elaina is smoking hot and I loved every minute of this book. Definitely a page turner that I wanted more. 5/5 stars

I'm giving this book 2 stars.

1 for Beasley who is the best dog I've ever read about.
1 for Bray the cutest kid in the world. And I adored his relationship with Lainie.

I did also really like the Dimarco family especially Jack and Luke. And their friends like Pike.

But I couldn't stand the main characters Lainie or Jake at all. Or like them as a couple. Lainie started out great. Shy, sweet, socially awkward. Babbling away. Not caring what she wore or how she looked. And overwhelmed by the many hot brothers of her equally hot next door neighbour. I could have connected with that girl but she didn't last.
I got over Lainie finding Jake and all the brothers attractive every time she saw them. The constant physical descriptions of the guys got old fast. I get it, they are sexy male specimens!!
Lainie quickly lost her adorableness. To me she came across like a insecure, weak doormat. She sees Jake's ex who is probably the worst woman on earth, and is immediately intimidated by her perfectness so she requests her best friend Paige give her a makeover. Seriously? Before that she had been comfortable with who she was. Not a try hard. But Jake and Julie make her feel bad about herself. I do enjoy makeover stories but I felt like she got the makeover to please Jake not herself.
And then Lainie becomes a cheater. She finds herself a boyfriend to move on from Jake (who has done nothing but say awful things about her and pretty much always ignored her except when he needed a babysitter or masseuse) but Jake gets all jealous and possessive when she moves on and Lainie just lets him treat Trey terribly and herself even worse. It was awful to read. And yes, I get later on Trey becomes the bad guy which I found to be totally predictable because then it absolved any wrongness that Lainie/Jake's relationship caused.
The thing that bothered me the most about Lainie is she never, ever followed through on her words with actions. She'd tell Jake she didn't want him but a second later was making out with him. She'd tell him she wants to move out but sleeps in his bed? It was so, so frustrating. She'd say something and Jake would overrule her, then she'd just agree with him and he got his way. It happened in EVERY interaction between them. Or their confrontations and arguments led to sex. She'd stand up to him for a second then he'd kiss her and she'd give in.
At one point I thought Lainie might actually stand up for herself... I had been waiting for it the entire book... for her to finally speak up and say everything I had been feeling about him/them.

"You’ve been mean to me, you’ve ignored me, you’ve abandoned me, and then at times you’ve been wonderful and sweet. It’s too much, I can’t keep up. I never know what Jake I’m going to get and I’m constantly worried that you’re going to walk away. I can’t live like that. I don’t want to.”

I almost cheered when Lainie said that to Jake... I honestly thought she would make Jake work to get her back after she'd laid out how she really left. But NOPE! Later that night he comes home from a bar and she cuddles with him in bed. A weak later, she says her defences are dropping because he's been amazing but we don't actually see what he's done that is so amazing to prove himself to her. SERIOUSLY?? Come on. I wanted to see this Jake that everyone else saw but I never did. I honestly had no idea why Lainie loved him. I wish she could have fallen for Luke instead. Now that was a good guy. And I liked Lainie/Luke's friendship even though it made Jake jealous and he'd always break up their hanging out. Ugh.
I loathed Jake. I thought he was one of the worst male characters I've ever read. I like Alpha males but I cannot stand ones who don't fucking listen!! And Jake never did. Lainie may as well never open her mouth to say anything because he just constantly overruled her or chose to ignore anything she said. It drove me nuts. He was arrogant, smug, selfish, manipulative and controlling. I hated how he used her shyness and social anxiety against her to play games or to push her buttons. I was appalled by his behaviour with Lainie's relationship with Trey. And I could not believe he used information Lainie had told him privately about her parents to track down her father without her permission. It wasn't any of his business. The fact he made it seem like it did it because she was the one holding back their relationship due to Daddy issues...pissed me off. It couldn't have possibly been his hot/cold nature or the fact Lainie had caught him with his ex despite why he was entertaining Julie. Jake bought out her abandonment issues. He was the problem in their relationship. Not Lainie.
Don't even get me started on that whole horrible ex drama. His brothers asking Jake to reconnect with Julie for a case. But he couldn't tell Lainie about it for stupid reasons so instead he went back to ignoring her or treating her like shit. But still completely possessive of her.
What was even worse was everyone absolving him of responsibility of his actions. Jake could have handled things with Lainie so much better. And way less painlessly. Telling her the truth or asking for some space/time for starters. But nope. And his whole family and him just expected her to forgive him when it's over.
Striker said something that seriously rubbed me the wrong way

"Then she wasn’t who any of us thought she was and she sure as hell doesn’t deserve you and this family.”

Jake lied to her. Ignored her. Abandoned her after she just let him in and knowing her history with abandonment. But it's ok to hurt her for the greater good? I'm sorry, I really don't think that's fair or a right way to be thinking. Jake made his choice. And if he lost Lainie because of it, it was on him. Not her. But nothing ever fell on Jake. Nothing was ever his fault.

Part of me doesn't want to continue reading this series but I was a little intrigued by Tyler/Grace and so I think I might check out their story.

Jennifer Hanks does it again in Elaina. More great females to love, and learning about yet another Dimarco Man, add in a young boy and some dogs and this is just a great book. There's some dark issues in this book as well, but the writing is beautifully done. Jennifer is great making sure her female characters are strong and don't need saving by the men, but having the men do what they do best and always get the bad guy. I'm a serious fan of these books and I can't wait to reread them again and again.

Honestly, Laney and Jake's story wasn't my favorite of the Dimarco Brothers. I enjoyed the story, but I feel there were a few instances that just took away from me enjoying it as thoroughly as I had the previous books.
Jake's story starts off right where Gia and Brody's story ended. Luke had just been shot with the help of Jake's crazy ex. So naturally the guilt is weighing heavily on Jake's shoulders and he's sword off women. All Jake is trying to do now is concentrate on his construction business, his son, and his family. Naturally, that's when he meets a woman who makes him feel things he's never felt for another woman...jealousy and possessiveness.
Laney is a homebody. She works from home and just prefers to stay at home, if it wasn't for her best friend Paige she most likely wouldn't leave much. However, things change when Jake Dimarco moves in next door and she's somehow adopted into the family without her even wanting or realizing it.

Now, just to get it off my chest, what really had me annoyed and a bit peeved about this book was how the Dimarco men handled situations in this book. First let's talk about Jake...
In the beginning when he first meets Laney he admits she's not his type. Hell, about the second or third time they see each other he doesn't even remember her name! But he sure did notice her best friend and even mentions that she's beautiful and would be exactly the kind of woman he would want. Then when things look like they may be changing a bit in Jake and Laney he's confronted by his ex and to protect Laney from Julie's wrath he says hurtful things about her and how she's not his type. Now I'm all for this occurring and getting to watch the man grovel, but I don't feel there was enough groveling done on Jake's part. You have a woman like Laney who is already self-conscious, and doesn't believe that someone like Jake could ever like her, and he goes and does something like that really tearing her down and doesn't grovel?!?
My second, and probably biggest issue with how the Dimarco men handle things in this story is the fact that they had Jake go along with their plan of pretending to get back with his ex to find the one who shot his brother Luke. Honestly, I feel like all the brother's believed he was going to do this no matter what other option there was because he felt guilty for his ex having a part in the shooting that they willing let him put his relationship with Laney on the line, even after learning that he was so serious about her. None of the other brother's I feel would've ever done this with their women and it seemed really wrong for them to place that option on their younger brother's shoulders knowing he still carried guilt.

I am not crying! Elaina really tugged at my emotions. Can I just say that I for sure have a new favorite in this series. Elaina is such a great story. There is redemption, heartache, and romance in this book. I mean just be prepared to possibly tear up.

The plot of this book was great. It was another single parent book, but different than Gianna. Jake is such a strong character. He is the comic relief in the other books, so to see him tossed into a different role was nice. Add in Elaina who is a bit awkward but totally loveable and you have a great story.

The heat between these two is different. I mean they both are avoiding each other for their own personal reasons. That means the action is bound to be so much hotter. This is proven as the story goes on.

The story is told from a dual point of view like all the others. I really liked that we got to see the conclusion to the last book play out in the beginning of this one. I was not sure my heart could handle it otherwise. The pace of this story is steady. All the characters are wonderful as always.

In conclusion, I loved this story. I cannot wait to see what happens next. Which Dimarco is going to get bitten by the love bug next???? Just wait around and see

My first from this author. This was recommended following my binge on single parents trope. I hadn’t read the first couple of books in the series but that didn’t detract from the story or plot. It can be read as a stand-alone if you don’t mind some gaps here and there. I don’t.

Anyway, the plot started off great and it seemed good until it became a little repetitive of both Lanie and Jake.

I wanted to love this book as it was right up my alley and I’d come to love Beasley and Bray who are just adorable.

I hoped it would get better but this seemed to drag. The push and pull seemed unnecessary here for me.

I also usually ignore grammatical and spelling errors but this was ongoing throughout the entirety of the book. It was too hard to ignore.

What seemed unbelievable and unreasonable is how Jake’s ex got away with quite a bit despite the family being involved in security, police, detective etc... That just didn’t make sense. Even with the help of MCs assisting, they still couldn’t get a hold of his ex.

This one was an okay read for me. I would have enjoyed it a little more if the story was brushed up on. It’s exactly the sort of story I’d have loved and given 5 stars to but this one didn’t work for for the reasons stated above.

The fourth book of the Dimarco family has the spotlight for Jake, the brother who had a baby with evil witch Julie. After her part in the shooting of Luke Dimarco Jake washed his hands of her and took his son to live somewhere else. His new neighbor is Elaine (Lanie), a young shy woman with a big heart (and a big dog!) who is very sweet to his young son even when he is a bit of a jerk to her.

Luke is out of the hospital and recuperates at Jake's house. Jake has to deal with the immense guilt he feels toward Luke because of the shooting. He starts to realize he has feelings for Lanie, but during the search for Julie he has to play a role he doesn't want to and hurt Lanie in the process. Will she forgive him?

These books are a bit addictive, with the lovable Dimarco family in the spotlight.

Elaina knew heartache and abandonment ,left to be raised by her mothers friend and told her father didn't want her.

So she kept her life quiet and simple free of any chances of heartache.

She did have her best friend Paige to keep her a little social, and she would drag Elaina out when she could. Now her world was about to get turned upside down,a new neighbour is moving in and she can't stop staring at the hunky men moving him in.

Jake Dimarco is in no rush to find a date or love after the crazy ride his ex Julie gave him he's done with women for a while. The most important thing in his life is his son Braydon and his company he and brother Ben run. When Ben decides that he needs to meet Jakes neighbour he and Logan trot over to introduce themselves. When Jake meets Elaina they both feel the connection and neither want it.It takes Elania's dog Beasley and Jakes son to make them see that they are made for each other.

Another great book in the Dimarco series.

Jake is feeling guilty his brother was shot (and almost killed) since he allowed his baby mama's boyfriend/boy toy to rile him up. He moves into a new house with his young son, Bray, where he meets his new neighbor, Lainie.
Lainie is more of an introvert due to shyness. We meet her when she is spying on Jake and his brothers/friends helping him move in. When they do meet, she is very shy and has a hard time making eye contact and talking to them since they are all so hot.

Thanks to his brothers, the two meet and she becomes his babysitter. The two go back and forth on being friends since Jake is a bit hot then cold. Doesn't help that is baby mama is crazy!!!

This was a sweet book, but not nearly as good as book 2 and 3. I still recommend reading it though.
This book can be read on its own, but I think you will enjoy it more if you read the books in order.

DNF at 54%

I really liked the beginning when you are introduced to Jake and his family (although that could just be because I haven’t read any of the other books in this series), and the first encounter with Lanie. However, those character interactions (or showing all their relationships developing) quickly disappear when Lanie agrees to babysit Bray and she starts to see Luke often so they get close, but none of that (their interactions and getting comfortable with each other) is shown.

Other than that, I really didn’t like: Lanie hearing Jake say that she’s not his type and demanding a makeover from her best friend (although she insists that it’s for her and no one else); Lanie starts dating someone else; Jake’s jealousy about Lanie’s dates was over the top; (it felt like unnecessary drama/angst).

I've really enjoyed Jennifer Hanks's The DiMarco Series. The women are real, the men hot and kind and the stories full of drama and tender moments. I especially like Elaina. I identified with her more than any of the others. She's a geek. Socially uncomfortable. Not used to dating. She's also smart, funny and thoughtful.

I hated that Jake keep kicking himself over Luke's shooting. He's a loving brother and takes on guilt that's not really his. It's perfect that Luke moves in with him to rehabilitate so Jake can work through his issues and see that Luke holds no anger toward him. He's such a good dad and it was great to watch him with Braydon. Even as he's mired in guilt, he's attracted to Lanie which is a bit of surprise to him and her. Their unlikely relationship is just what he needs to help heal.

One of the best parts of the story was Lanie's relationship with Braydon. She's so comfortable with him and the two bond almost immediately. In a way only a very young child can, Bray knows it's Lanie, not his mom, who truly cares about him and he returns that affection with innocent enthusiasm.

Of course, all is not easy. The two have to overcome some major hurdles before they can find their happiness and there are moments I wanted to reach into the book and shake both Jake and Lanie because they're too good at getting in their own way.

When they finally get what they deserve it was very satisfying. I'm moving on to Kate now because I'm not ready to leave the DiMarcos.

I still don´t understand WHY could they not tell heroine about the plan and had to scam her (that hero is with evil OW). As far as OW knew, they were not even together/together.
Heroine was to passive for my liking. Like she did not cry or scream, she did not cry and heartbreak also, she like just... took it all.
And when like in first pages hero made sure how he is not looking for realationship or women (said it to his brothers) and then commented how heroine friend was BEAUTIFUL and eyed her as she got out of car . I was like.. what? i smell DNF. because he never felt heroine was beautiful. But it was kinda saved, that even when she was beautiful he did not want her, he just reccognized the fact that she is beautiful. But it was still cringe for me.

Kindle Unlimited purchase.

What happens when a man riddled with guilt and a crazy ex meets the introvert next door?

MAGIC, that’s what. There were a few times I wanted to smack Jake and really felt the pain Lanie was going through.

There is a scene stealing little boy and a coach potato dog that brought a smile to my face quite often.

The Dimarco family is amazing and the twists in the storyline kept me turning the pages. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next installment.

Three stars because I’m ticked by what the brothers asked Jake to do. Can’t same more without giving too much away!!! We also get to see a different side of Jake here.... he gets jealous!!!

Beasley and Braydon made this book!!! Beasley was such a funny dog and his laziness was hilarious. Bray’s closeness to Lanie was so cute!!!

Love how the author includes the side characters just as much as the main. Pike is who we got this time!!!

I received a copy from Netgalley for a fair and honest review.

A great read!

Although I love Lanie and really enjoyed the story overall, I can’t get past some of the choices Jake makes. I don’t want to give away spoilers, but he could have done things differently. Other than that, all the drama, plot twists, passion, and banter I’ve come to expect from the series was present. But, so was the cliffhanger epilogue, and this one appears to lead to a spinoff series, but I know there are more Dimarcos to go so that’s a little confusing. Still a great book though!

I have been waiting for Jake’s book since I started this series. I knew I was going to love him. I was a little sad that at the beginning Jake was very unlike himself but I was glad that he had ditched Julie: I am also very glad that Luke was okay.

I love Elaina for Jake. She is exactly what he needs to keep him grounded.

I can’t believe this is the second book to end with a character we live in trouble. I guess we take a detour with Pike’s book next.

Another standalone romance in the Dimarco series. The events that set this story in motion happened at the end of the previous book, but you could read this on its own.

There are some nice moments here, but I still just don't seem to connect with the main characters in this series.

The author has done a nice job with building an interesting family who love and support each other. If you have read any of the other books the Dimarco family members make multiple appearances here too.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.

This series gets better and better! This is my favorite book in the series to date. I could relate with Elaine and how she interacts with people. The shower scene where she punches Jake was hysterical! This book keeps you on your toes in more ways than one.
With each book you learn a little bit more about the other characters that Jennifer Hanks hasn't written about. And in each book you will fall more in love with the DiMarco family (blood-related and not).
