In a tell as old as time, a wild frat god recounts his life of hedonism, debauchery, and purposelessness up until he encountered the true and living God to become perhaps the most influential theologian since Paul the Apostle.
One of the most impactful books I’ve read, Confessions is closer to a 400+ page prayer than it is anything else. It is honest, beautiful, and paints a picture of a man who reflects on his realization that was a hollow man in desperate need of a God who knows him and will save him. I would recommend it to anyone, follower of Jesus or not.
(I recommend a fairly modern translation, as Augustine is already difficult to read. The one by Tom Gill is an admirable attempt a readability.)
This book took me over 2 years of reading on and off to finish. Truly an incredible writing from an incredible saint! Some parts were tough to read through because it gets confusing, BUT a life changing read for sure !!
