(Zero spoiler review) 3.5/5 It scrapes a four rounded up by the skin of its teeth, but boy oh boy was this one wildly inconsistent ride. A bunch of tie ins and annuals of moderate quality kick things off, before we go on an enjoyably strong run with Mr. comics, Roy Thomas and Geof Isherwood at the helm, doing reliable work. Sure, it doesn't scale the heights seen in the first omnibus with Guice Jackson's delicious artwork, but it had me suitably turning the pages with few qualms for a nineties run. Then we get the outstanding Spiderman cross over graphic novel; The Way of Dusty Death, which is without a doubt the absolute highlight of the book. The rest of the book runs the gamut from good to skippable event tie ins, which if I'm honest, did see me flick through more than a few pages when things neither featured Dr. Strange prominently, or were just pretty god damn forgettable. The four stars really does flatter this book somewhat, though the undoubted quality it does contain deserves to be recognised above the burden of too much mediocre content, which ultimately stops this being a must own. Worth a read, but you're not gonna rush bac to it any time soon. 3.5/5
This omnibus is so uneven. The most fun regular run stories are those ties into the Infinity War and Infinity Crusade crossovers. The Spider-Man/Doctor Strange: The way of Dusty Death is great and I really enjoyed most of the Secret Defenders issues (especially that art by Grindberg!) but the Sorcerer Supreme issues were lack luster for me. With the majority of the exceptional content already included in the Infinity War and Crusade omnis this volume is a pass for me.
I enjoyed reading this omnibus. It helped me fill in the holes of my knowledge of Dr. Strange from my childhood readings of this comic. The book also helped me enjoy the MCU movie as well.
