The next stop on the Runaways reunion train is to pick up Princess Powerful, A.K.A. the best Marvel character of all time, MOLLY HAYES! Gert and Co. find Molly living quite happily with her grandmother. Wait, that can't be right, can it?
That image of Victor with one eye open as he eyes the cats surrounding him dubiously might just be my fave. Looking forward to seeing where this takes Gert and Molly what with the dubious under the stairs weirdness and the creepy cats.
Starting to bring that Classic Rainbow Rowell charm
This is finally starting to FEEL like a Rainbow Rowell story, without losing any of The Runaways spirit. It can be easy to see Gert as bitchy, but Rowell makes her easy to sympathise with in this issue.
It's extremely difficult to rate the individual chapters, therefore the following is a review of the first volume. In other words, chapters one through six.
I have read the first volume of Brian K. Vaughan’s contribution to the Runaways storyline and found it to be an okay read. It left me curious, but it did not suck me in quite as deep as I would have liked. Although I plan to continue with the Vaughan arc, I decided to give Rainbow Rowell’s storyline a read to see how it differed.
I’ll be honest and say that this is one of those cases where missing information made it difficult for me to enjoy this one. While details were provided to fill in gaps, it wasn’t quite enough for me. It felt too much like I jumped into the middle of a story, and it distracted me throughout. Add in the fact that this one did not wow me to the degree that the Vaughan arc did, and I’m unsure if I’ll continue. Maybe I’ll come back when I’ve read the other Runaways storylines and understand this one better, but it didn’t quite work for me.
All in all, I think this was a case where it was me, not the book.
I wasn't sure how I felt about this one. I almost considered either a 2 or 3 star rating. Then I realized that I was rating some of the character decisions in the story and not the story itself.
Kind of speaks highly of the characters within, yeah?
I'm still loving this new Runaways series. I can feel it's building to something awesome and while this issue was a quiet, downtime moment, it was really nice. Even if I can feel imminent danger is just around the corner.
Quiero que me guste, lo intento con muchas fuerzas. Pero es que no soporto a esta Gert, no puedo con ella. No la entiendo y me resulta cargante a más no poder.
Por otro lado los calcetines de Molly son una maravilla.
