I received an ARC copy of this book I have no connection to the author Ashraf Haggag.

This is a great book mainly concentrating great leaders of the 18th to 21st century, however there are honorable mentions of a couple of great leader/cultures or people from earlier.

The book starts are with the author stating his reason for writing this book, the takes a short/summary biography style format to person. It talk about what they were best known for, there lives/legacy’s and finishes with some of there most famous quotes. These quotes were especially informative for me as I had heard many of the all through my life but never knew who they are actually from.

This is the first book of Ashraf’s I have read, I must complement his writing style, because he managed to the right amount of information of each person. This made the book informative without overloading me with facts, and engaging. As soon as I finished one section I went to the next one. The proof of this is how fast I finished it. It is very rare to finish a non-fiction book in just two sittings.

I only have one complaint I have with this book is in the last section, the arts and literature legend’s section. This is my personal opinion/prejudice I don’t think film actors should be regarded in the same level as the others. Yes I understand acting is an art form, an these mentioned were at the top of their field, as probably more popular then the others, but I don’t think their contributions changed or shaped the world. That is my only gripe.

This is a great informative and engaging book, I would recommend it to anyone who who has more than a passing interest in modern history.

Special thanks to the author for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Two things I won't be caught dead reading;
A. Murder mysteries
B. Non-fiction

When I read the synopsis and found out it was about legends, I immediately became more intrigued. What better way to motivate myself about life than to read about past legends from different generations, had me thinking of ways to make an impact on the world.

This book was very educational and at the same time entertaining to read and easy to understand. There were enough but not too much details and each section of the book was divided into politics, science, literature, arts etc. Which makes it a lot easier to navigate.

One of the things I liked about this book is the fact that it's very inclusive, it did not focus on only science or just politics.
This is a great book to read if you want to learn more about legends but don't want to be bored to death.

So, what kind of Impact would you like to have on the world?

ARC received from author for an honest opinion.
Imagine yourself in situation:

Reading this book gives exactly the same contentment feeling!
Categorized under listed topics:

Conclusion - (**The best part according to me.)
The slots convergence is really easy to steer through with. Author has easily covered:
• Historical facts
• Causes that lead to certain events
• To the straight point essentials
• Certain limited interwoven timeline for each individual mentioned
• Distinction in mentioned categories
• The very known facts with few more details
• Few unknown and attention-grabbing facts
• Selected individual’s quotes
• Selected individual’s signature
• The particular slot for - Legacy
• Influential ripples caused along the 18th to 21st-century era
• The inserted justification for picking categories
• Detailed adequate informative

Few of my favorite quotes:
When a woman is talking to you, listen to what she says with her eyes.
– Victor Hugo

The more sensitive you are, the more certain you are to be brutalized, develop scabs, never evolve.
Never allow yourself to feel anything, because you always feel too much.
– Marlon Brando

We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.
– Winston Churchill

Nobody can hurt me without my permission.
– M. K. Gandhi

Normally going through non-fiction is kind of tough for me but I literally floated through pages of this one, it made me crave more and more to know how the shape of human settlements have varied from time to time till the date.
It is just perfectly sufficient neither more nor less in every conveyed manner.
P.S.: Thank you, Mr. Ashraf Haggag for the review copy.
I recommend it to all.

Interesting read with valuable tips for the future generation. Ashraf has chosen leaders from all different fields of life. It was interesting to see the similarities in hardships and challenges that these legends had to go through to become what they eventually were. He sets the book in a structured manner so that the reader can choose the person they wish to learn about. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to others.

I obtained an early copy in exchange for an honest review, so I wish to thank the author for giving me the opportunity to read his novel.

Legends over Generations is a great introduction to well known figures in fields such as science, art and politics. With a simple narrative, the book allows for a quick summary on the lifes of personalities like Dalai Lama, Victor Hugo or Albert Einstein. I liked how the author was able to keep a balance between them, giving all an equal importance.

The division of the book was well achieved and I liked how the chapters were divided. My favorite aspect of the novel were the quotes presented and the signature in every chapter. It was an interesting addition that made all the difference.

On the downside, if you are familiar or read extensive biographies on any of these figures you might feel a bit underwhelmed or feel like you already know the information presented. I also feel that, while the ending was nicely wrapped up, I would have liked to see a stronger connection be made with the topics presented previously.

In the end I gave it four stars. If you would like to meet for the first time or revisit these admirable men and women, feel free to give this book a chance.

A smooth read with some useful quotes throughout the entire book. However, the Author missed out on other Great leaders that should have been mentioned among them. An easy read and usable guide for more information into the lives and upbringing of the great ones who have gone before us.

Legends over Generations is a non fiction book amazingly written by the author Ashraf Haggag. As the name suggests it has in store about the life of 30 legends of history categorised into four sections namely Human Rights Legends,Science Legends,Politics legends,Art anf Literature Legends. The best thing about this book that if you want to know about the biography of a lot of personalities in simple language, refer to this book. However, the fact about all these people is kinf of well known yo the world!
The book is definitely gripping because there are not a lot of books which are a compilation of such powerful personalities.
An applause to the author for giving such books their existance and providing a little tribute to such legends.
I received a copy of this book from the the publishing house of this book and I am thankful to them for providing me with such a informative book.
If you love history or even if you don't, you shouldn't miss a read on this book.

Great guidebook. Very useful to dip into at any section to get some daily inspiration from all time favorite legends. Especially like the highlight on the features required to obtain that level of achievement and leadership. Setting an example for our future generation, Ashraf Haggag has made an effort to bring all the key figures into one book so that we can learn and perhaps apply in some way.

Well selected collection of legends covering important fields. Although it is not my preferred genre of books to read I found the insights into the historical legends lives quite astonishing and very inspirational. It was also compelling to see that many of them carry very similar traits and challenges. It is an absolute must read and I will pass it on to my kids for sure.

Legends are the exemplary figures of the society, they are luminaries who act as the beacon to the future. They become the illustrious personalities because they had the courage to stand up for what they believed in and apparently, that made all the difference.

Legends Over Generation by Ashraf Haggag is an amalgamation of stories of several people who, over the time, turned into legends. They were no less than ordinary beings but these people worked towards mobilizing change and this renders them the class of Legends. The people discussed in the book belong to different domains – Arts, Literature, Science, Human Rights and Politics. They have been the torchbearers of the change with their praiseworthy intellect and inspirational ideologies. They possess the skills that set them apart from the hoi polloi.

The book begins with explaining the author’s take on the importance of legends and then goes on covering the various famous personalities of different fields. Each life story has been organized into key points to succinctly describe the facts we need to know as readers. The unnecessary elaboration has been deliberately avoided to serve the vital information to the readers. The author kept an eye on including important parts of the lives of eminent people which played a crucial role in shaping their lives. Facts have been put forth nicely and the narration has been kept simple. No verbose content, no grandiloquent narrative and this make the book an amazing read for the children. The flow of thoughts was proper throughout the book and serves as a guide to the lives of great people of all times. The compilation of their quotes at the end of their stories is really good. The mind elevating thoughts give an insight into the minds of these leaders. Overall, the presentation is simply engaging with an attractive cover and title.

I felt that there are even greater figures in history who should have been portrayed here. Moreover, women didn’t get ample space in the book. Additionally, the sentence structure is glitchy at some points which hamper the reading experience. The book requires a proper editing to make it flawless.

If you wish to delve into the crisp account of the lives of people who inspire with their great ideas, Go For This Book!

Also very interesting to see their trials and challenges along the way. Ashraf highlights that perseverance and belief in purpose is key to leading and standing for your cause. It was a good weekend read and not as heavy as one would expect it to be. Recommended read.

So after I finished reading Echos of culture in the corporate environment I picked up Legends over Generations by the same author, Ashraf Haggag. I really liked the writing style of the author in his previous work. Legends over generations is a book in which the author speaks about the legends from different fields in his own writing style. As the author himself have mentioned there are many writings on the legends, but ideas of representing is what that makes a USP for the readers. So you might ask me, Why do we even need to read about Legends? We had enough during our schooling! What we are going to do in our lives knowing about them? Well the first thing that strikes in my mind is, it helps us build a sense of Pride. When someone asks: Name one legend from your country? Mahatma Gandhij, I would shout in a high pitch, because I'm proud. Our country has seen many legends like MK Gandhi, and we are proud to speak about them.

It is not just about sense of pride. Legends influence the society. They bring the change in the mankind. They help the man to understand the events of nature and to elucidate them, besides helping him in his adjustment with Nature. They represent the ideals and values of society. In this way, they also provide the opportunity of acquainting oneself with the culture of the society that existed. The profundity of their influence is amply reflected in the fact that because of them it is possible to predict the behavior of the individuals of a particular society. We might be living peaceful today, but what happened in yesteryear also matters. We should often revisit the eras by reading the stories about the legends. And this book worked out truly to me.

The book starts with the introduction to the role of legends. And then forms into a different sections. The legends over the period and over different fields have been discussed. It is divided into four sections; Human Rights Legends, Science Legends, Politics Legends and Art & Literature Legends. The author has a right amount of information about all the legends and that makes the readers to follow the quick pace in reading. And the section where the quotes used by the legends are mentioned is the highlight of the book. And as like in the previous book the author concludes the book with the conclusion. And all the facts mentioned is worth applauding. Overall, this book does the justice of the readers' time. I would rate this book with 3.5 out of 5 stars, because I'd high expectations of the author after reading his previous work. And also the subject isn't any new, although I liked the writing style.

Note: Thanks to Vinfluncers & The author for providing me an ARC in exchange for Honest & Unbiased Review.

" We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something."

The book mainly focuses on the many legends our world have seen over the 18th-20th century. The author has divided the book into 5 parts:

1. Human Rights
2. Science
3. Politics over History
4. Art & Literature
5. Conclusion

The legends are divided according to the category they fit in. Though it was interesting to know about them but I found it a little boring. The information was brief, the author focused mainly on the important events of the legend's lives but the same information could be gathered from Wikipedia as well.

"If you can't fly then run, If you can't run then walk, If you can't walk then crawl but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward."

But the best part of the book is that, the information is presented very well and the index provided will let you learn about the person you wish to know. There are quotes  added in the end of every chapter which are inspiring. The conclusion part is very well written and is quite interesting to know the similarities between the legends. The language is easy and simple.  A must-read for anyone interested in finding out about the skills, trials, and efforts that shaped these legends who ultimately shaped us.

Though I didn't find it too interesting but maybe you'll.

Legends over Generations by Ashraf Haggag is a non-fiction book elucidating about great leaders in the field of human rights, science, politics, art,and literature. He introduces us to Mahatma Gandhi, Mao, Victor Hugo, and many such famous personalities. The author traces their life from birth to death providing relevant information about their contribution to the respective fields. There was a separate section on the quotes by these personalities.

Haggag did a great job in setting the context of the book.It is well-structured. The book has a great mix of famous and relatively less famous personalities which made it a good read. One of the risks in writing bio-sketches is that the writing can turn out be dry and academic. However, the narrative of this book is anything but dry. I was hooked to the stories from the beginning. I liked the fact that author did not put a lot of information and kept the stories interesting. The writing is succinct and crisp.

It took me a while to start to read it, but the book inspired me and I finished it for three days.

The book reviews how some leaders become legends. It was very interesting for me to trace how the characters described in the book have grown up in life and have become known to the whole world.

I really liked the classification of this book. This book is written very fluid and pleasing and is worth reading to study the life and attitude of the legends in different fields around the world.
Perhaps every human being can not be a legend, but by imitating and modeling the life and character of the legends, one can open new paths in his/her life.

An ARC review. This book is enjoyable to read. The ways and forms of outstanding leaders in their own lives and times and how all the aspects we’ve taken for granted are because of the influence, negative or positive from them. From the 18th century till present day, some from before, the Legends have inspired us. The quotes cited here make it a very amenable read!
A very different viewpoint which I liked tremendously!

Before flipping through the pages of this book, I wasn't sure about the read as it was another non-fiction in my collection. It has been one of the easiest read encountered ever. I would like to thank Vinfleuncers for providing me the copy in exchange of an honest review. It felt like I was flipping pages of my History book, every character walking out of it... Be it Mahatma Gandhi or Winston Churchill. Legends over generations is a compilation by the author of legends who helped in shaping the society. The contribution made by the legends helped in the growth of society, and worked for human rights. There are examples dating back to the 20th century- Ernst Hemingway to the recent sensation in the education and women empowerment world- Malala.

"Legends harbour huge components of skills, personal traits, and real efforts linked with other external components" - Rightly said by the author in the keynote

Legends such as Mahatma Gandhi worked for the bringing change in the society. In 1844, he started the Natal Indian Congress to fight against discrimination. There were various non-violent revolt started by Gandhiji in order to achieve the long term goal of Indian freedom from the British Rule.

Dalai Lama is another example of legend who working for human rights and its protection. Dalai Lama is believed to be the reincarnation of Avalokiteśvara. Dalai means "ocean" in Mongolian and Lama is the Sanskrit equivalent of teacher. Hence, Dalai Lama is described as teacher spiritually as deep as the ocean. They have committed their lives to benefit the humanity.

The present day example of living legend is Malala, who stood up to the Taliban. Even, when she was attacked by the Taliban... she recovered and went back to school without any fear.

"How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?"

Nelson Mandela, who was the first black President of South Africa worked for the human rights in South Africa. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for abolishing Apartheid from South Africa.

"In my country we go to the prison first and then become the president"

Every field had legends over the generations working to make the world a better place to live in. Science had dedicated scholars and accidental scientists working with invention of phone, electricity and photoelectric effects. Politics had legends such as Winston Churchill and Napoleon Bonaparte, who ruled the territories with pride and vision. Art and Literature had legends such as William Shakespeare and Ernst Hemingway to sing of struggle and pain, yet emerge victorious. The conclusion of this book would make you a better person. A secret which has been locked in those 8 points summed up by the author.

"Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas" - Marie Curie

"Never go on trip with anyone you don't love" - Ernst Hemingway

"The earth has music for those who listen" - William Shakespeare

"Greatest people come up with new ideas" - Mistakes and failure lead to great ideas - Ashraf Haggag
