Tragedy befalls the town of Misty Point when local veterinarian, Dr. Arnie Stokes, is shot at the Hand in Paws Animal Clinic. The investigation leads the Misty Point Police Department directly to Megan Stanford who has now inherited ownership of the grant that has continued to keep the clinic running. When thefts of drugs and medical supplies are uncovered, the attacks appear to be coordinated with other animal shelters in the area. As Christmas approaches, Megan, Nick and her friends look to keep the spirit of the holiday alive by restarting the town traditions and hosting a fundraiser for the misplaced animals, two of which Megan reluctantly agrees to foster. With the investigation and festivities consuming Megan’s time, she is introduced to the mysterious, handsome Jonathan Brandon Carter who will serve as the future attorney for her estate. The fate of the shelter and employees are at risk unless Megan and her friends can catch a ruthless criminal before he strikes again.
Author of Misty Point Mystery Series, Midnight Shift, and Rocky Meadow Mystery Series- Sacred Gold, Fatal Breach, The Bench
As a child, I loved to read, whenever and whatever I could get my hands on. I started to write my own "Nancy Drew" type mystery in fifth grade. As a student, I studied Biology in Vermont, Sciences and Literature in college and eventually became a physician. I enjoy writing mysteries that contain medical and light spiritual content. Either way, a good murder mystery is always fun.
Misty Manor - Three years have passed since Hurricane Sandy devastated the New Jersey Shore as Megan Stanford returns to her childhood home to find her elderly grandmother and the family Grand Victorian home in a state of shocking neglect. As the town threatens to sue to ensure demolition of the guest cottages behind Misty Manor, mystery unfolds in the once quiet town of Misty Point, NJ. A dead body found in the debris, threatening messages, and vandalism, combined with an eerie sixty year old photograph, bring the investigation closer to home. Megan continues to dig for the truth and unwittingly begins to unravel a decades old secret, which threatens her and the future of Misty Manor.
My first book, The Bench, is set in the fictional town of Rocky Meadow, VT. The Rocky Meadow Mystery series then continues with Fatal Breach and Sacred Gold, although each book can be read as a stand alone, just like your favorite episodes of a mystery show. Dr. Amy Daniels is a trauma surgeon who moves to Rocky Meadow, VT to escape family tragedy. There she meets, Father Michael Lauretta, the psychologist pastor of St. Francis church and Rocky Meadow Retreat Center. Together, they solve a mystery and search for a killer with the help of Katie, the church cook, Willow, a teenage millionaire, Father Victor, visiting priest from Chicago and Tony Noce, owner of Hasco's Bar and Grill. In Fatal Breach, the characters become involved with cybercrime and a murder at a local soup kitchen. Sacred Gold is about gold treasure buried in the catacombs of the church. There is murder as well as a race to see who finds gold first.
While solving crimes, the main characters deal with life, loss, starting over and developing an appreciation for the friends and loved ones in their lives.
Linda Rawlins lives in New Jersey with her family. When she is not working in medicine, she is writing.
I really enjoyed reading Misty Winter. Once I got started, I looked forward to getting back to it, and I even stayed up way too late a couple of nights because the story atmosphere and characters were so pleasant and such a nice change of pace from my usual workaday. I'm looking forward to the next Misty Point adventure.
Misty Winter continues Megan Stanford’s story after inheriting her family Grand Victorian at the Jersey Shore. In this book she gets involved with searching for a criminal who shot the local veterinarian.
I really enjoyed this lightly romantic, clean, Mystery. I bought this from Amazon and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 5* rating. For someone who never had a pet, the heroine of this story did a good job taking in a big dog. Someone was breaking in at the pet clinic and it wasn't long till the heroine was accidently in the middle of it. Lots to chuckle about, and wanting to know who all is in on the break-ins . Just knew something was going to happen but didn't know what. Well worth the reading.
Veterinarian, Dr. Arnie Stokes was wounded in his hand by a gunshot; a misfortune in the city of Misty Point. Megan Stanford is the titleholder of a vet clinic, and the police inquiry has led to her. There are more violent occurrences and it looks as if to be harmonized with other animal clinics in the same zone. To bestow some Christmas cheer during the winter holidays, Megan, Nick and friends resume the municipality custom of holding a charity for misplaced animals. Enter, fine-looking Jonathan Brandon Carter into the picture, the imminent lawyer that proceeds over Megan’s estate. He is handsome and enigmatic and catches Megan’s eye. Megan and her pals must find out who the felonious person is before he attacks yet again. Misty Winter is the 3rd book in the (Misty Point Mystery Series.) Linda Rawlins has done it again, written a wonderful, suspenseful, romantic adventure. The tale has a crime to crack, mixed with passion and life circumstances to keep the reader absorbed.
This story is okay but predictable in many ways. Worse, the writer desperately needs an editor as she can’t keep her use of English straight. Example: “They probably would have gotten away with everything if you didn’t need to bring Dudley…”. That is so wrong! The correct construction should conclude “ if you hadn’t needed to bring Dudley…”. Additionally she may have some spelling difficulties. She should get the different meanings of “peeked” , “peaked” and “piqued” clearly in mind.
Each book in the series gets better and better. The story kept me going and the author is building the characters wonderfully. I loved that the setting took place around the Hand In Paws Animal Clinic. Being an animal lover, I loved the addition of Dudley the boxer and Shadow the cat. L forward to reading book 4.
