In centuries past, women of a certain age are supposed to be married, if not, society begins to come up with reasons why. Frigid. Unattractive. Picky. Not enough goats in her dowry. The sad state of affairs is, that in today’s society, things haven’t changed that much. Except maybe the goat part, well, depending on what part of the globe one resides. Meet Tess Warner —Smart, independent, great job, great friends, full life…chronically single. Not that she’s obsessed with finding her plus one, but she’s not ruling it out either. She lives her life as she see’s fit, open to what comes her way. Little did she know a random request from an old classmate was about to come her way, a request that would put her in the path with someone from her past. Not his past, because he has no idea she existed, then or now. His past ends up being more than Tess had bargained for, making her question her no baggage code of ethics, as well as everything she thought she new about love, and letting go. This is a story of a woman, then and now. Sexual misadventures, embarrassments, achievements, varying levels of self-esteem, and pant sizes. A humorous look at a modern woman’s plight transversing the mine field of frogs. And maybe, just maybe, colliding with the fabled, “one.”
You can find her avoiding social settings, drinking wine, reading, playing music loud, coloring outside the lines, and dressing like a 13 year old boy going to comic-con. She lives outside of Dallas with her husband, two cubs, and one submissive wetting mutt.

What a fun novel!!!! I started reading it in the morning and was done by night, I simply couldn't put it down. I had to pushed back appointments, ignore the office, and I even asked my husband to take care of dinner, because I didn't want to miss one minute of this charming story. A delightful book that I'm sure will make everyone who reads it, feel happy!
Why is it that if a woman isn't married by a certain age, people assume something is wrong with her? Doesn't matter if she's happy and successful, if she's not attached to someone she becomes damage goods.
That is a topic that our heroine, Tess Warner knows a lot about. Tess has a wonderful job she loves and she's great at, as a writer for an urban magazine. She has a group of amazing friends that keep her life colorful and a family who adores her, but worry about her, because she's still single.
We follow Tess around as she goes from date to date, some good, and some total disasters, but lucky for us, whichever way it goes for her, we'll laugh because she faces every experience with a lot of great humor.
When Tess does finally find someone that is the complete package, turns out, he might have a little too much baggage. Can she handle it and finally put all her chips down and gamble for possible heartbreak or will she simply quit the game, and move on?
Reading this book felt like going on a girls night out; fun, adventurous, flirty and a little bit inappropriate. That is the Nikki Mathis Thompson writing style. Her books always feel empowering, and completely relatable, just a ton of fun!
In a world where so much negativity is going around, a book like this one; that brings readers together and delivers so many smiles, is vital. So read it, enjoy it, share it!
I believe we all have a little bit of Tess inside of us. When you get to your thirties you are finally coming into your own, you feel more comfortable in your own skin, so why settle?
This book reminded me, that we all should focus more on the positive that we have going on in our lives. Embrace our flaws and strengths, and simply learn to let go of the bad and move on, because our happiness should solely depend on us, we shouldn't put that responsibility on anybody else.
So tonight, get a bottle of your favorite wine, and indulge in this wonderful book; you will have a grand time, I promise.

4 Be Who You Are Stars * * * * I love my friends here on GR.... I have said it many times... by reading their reviews, I have read many books I might never have found. This read came to me through Dee Montoya's review. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... It was engaging and made me very curious...so off I went to click and read for myself.
I am just going to say the experience was insightful and well done. Too many times women are judged... we are judged by how we look, what we do as a career and if we are "attached" to another. The way others perceive us is not the same as the male of our species...
If we have a group of long time friends who support us and give us all the comfort we need during our ups and downs...then family and observers may think it is substitute for "what we really need"... If we wait and not give in to pressure of past society saying a woman is not "complete" until she is married...then we are too picky and need to "smell the roses"...
Change the sex of the person and they are considered a Man's Man... having his Bros... or He is waiting to find the true woman... and there is nothing wrong with him... it is always the "others" are just not right for him...
This book worked on so many levels and explored all of this and more. It touched on making sure you are NOT settling or giving in to family pressure. It embraced and applauded our gal's group of friends and made them an equal part of the story. It also approached being in a relationship with children from another marriage and what a tightrope it can be.
But most of all... it celebrated WOMAN... how she is wonderful, knowing and giving in all she is... and by being who she is to her core all on her own, she is open to possibly finding a MAN should she wish... who is like that as well.
This was a wonderful study in all of the above and so much more...so take a chance and give it a go...
Per her usual, Nikki Mathis Thompson delivers another fun read full of romance, sass, snark, and of course gorgeous book boyfriends. In Spinster?, we meet Tess, a city girl who's smart, beautiful, successful, and quick with laugh out loud one-liners, particularly when they are at the expense of her flavor du jour, and in the company of her dearest friends. She's chronically single, but it doesn't seem to bother her -- until she's around her mother who thinks her daughter is well on her way to becoming an old maid or worse...a spinster.
We journey through some fun sexcapades with Tess until someone comes along and warms more than just her bed. He's everything you want in a book boyfriend, dashing, gallant, funny, and good in bed, which makes you keep saying "one more page. One more chapter."
This is a great story of independence, self awareness, and self acceptance, a book that makes you proud to be female. Another home run for Author Nikki Mathis Thompson. I can't wait to meet her next heroine.
4.5 Stars. Nikki delivers another entertaining read, full of sass! The characters are smart, hilarious and relatable! This is s quick, fun read!! I highly recommend it!!
Spinster? is a really fun and entertaining look at life as a single woman. Tess is a beautiful, successful 30something, who's happy being single...until she's not. Along the way we're entertained by Tess and her friends, some single, some taken- all hysterical! It's quite an adventure traversing the world of singlehood with Tess, as she goes from thinking she wanted one thing out of life to having to rethink it all when she's confronted with someone who could possibly be the "one" to change it all.
This is a light-hearted read that will tug at your heartstrings.
This is a romantic comedy, a laugh out loud kind of read. I recommend this for adults only due to the sexual content and the language. Tess has her life in order so she thinks. She has a great group of friends, Sunday dinners with the parents, and a job that she enjoys. Ok what is missing.... maybe a love life... a real one. But with all the uhm mishaps who really wants to try? But in her line of work, sometimes her clients turn out to be old high school secret crushes (who is still hot, score!) and he is interested in her. This is a great read, I love a sassy girl, with a bunch of sarcastic friends.
favorite passages: "The quirky, eating peanut butter from the jar wearing only her underwear, self." "I know, I don't exercise for fun, Running, biking, for entertainment? No freaking way. I work out so I can eat guac and drink margaritas with you hookers... its just as well." "Annoying her mom by calorie consumption was her favorite. Old habits die hard." "She squeezed her eyes shut and took a picture in her minds eye. It was something she'd done since she was a little girl when she wanted to preserve a moment."<3 "I wasn't going to say anything you... at least not now, you party pooing ho-bag." "Sorry, just captivated by the cardinal in your bush." "Sure enough, the most handsome man she knew came into the kitchen with a daughter clinging to each leg, like cherubic sloths."
Once again Nikki Mathis Thompson has given us a romantic comedy full of strong funny women! There is just something about her female characters that sucks me in from the start.
Spinster? is the story of Tess (C0ntessa). Tess was raised in a privileged life complete with private school and one of those mothers that makes you feel inadequate, even into your 30's. She is employed as a writer for a small magazine. Happy in her life, Tess doesn't need a man. She's perfectly happy being single, or is she? She has a kick ass circle of friends. Supportive, yet brutally honest.
The story follows Tess through her current dating adventures, with many references to her past dating escapades. And boy oh boy are there some laugh out loud moments. Then she meets "the one". She crushed on Wes in high school, even though he had no idea she even existed. But now, well he definitely knows she exists.
This story was so wonderful. Tess is such a strong woman. Sure, she has her insecurities, but who doesn't? Watching her transform was a pleasure. I just loved her! I fell in love with all the women in this book. The friendships, the relationship with her mother and the eventual relationship with Wes were so well written. And while it was a romance, it was more about Tess, as a woman and how that woman lived her life, on her terms.
Thank you Nikki for another wonderfully written story.
Spinster by Niki Mathis Thompson is a light-hearted and witty examination of the highs and lows that modern women face, in their search for Mr. Right. We follow Tess Warner a 33 year old writer who has been traversing the dating scene for quite some time. Unlike some, she doesn’t really have a problem with being single; it has certain benefits like being able to live life on her terms- but that doesn’t mean that she has closed the door on having relationships either. She is open to the possibility of finding someone to share her life with and is willing to let life take its course. She loves her job at ‘Urban living’ Lifestyle Magazine, she has worked hard and is finally getting some recognition for her efforts. She is content with her routine of work, a little dating, and socializing with her loyal, loving and supportive friends. Tess gets an unexpected email from a former classmate, who wants her to do some newsletters for an upcoming reunion- and she is shocked to see her high school crush is on the list of people to be interviewed. Wesley Caraway (Wes) is a Lawyer, who has been through a lot since his high school days. When Tess arrives to do an interview with him, he can’t understand why he doesn’t remember her from school- surely he would remember someone so attractive, smart, funny and full of life? They hit it off so well that the interview goes a little off track and Tess doesn’t get all the information she needs for the article- so Wes uses that as an excuse to see her again. Tess agrees eagerly, she is drawn to him like a moth to a flame. But she can’t help feeling that there is something that he is hiding from her. He has the weight of the world on his shoulders and Tess isn’t sure she wants to deal with his baggage or get tangled up in his drama. What will she do when she finds out about his past and will it be a deal breaker? Will she and Wes find the happiness they are looking for? Ms. Mathis Thompson won me over with her fresh, witty, cheeky writing style. This book is full of quick-witted, funny one liners and hilarious moments, which give the book a vibrant and fun-loving feel. The book explores issues that women face regularly in life, especially in the dating scene, such as- unfair expectations, body image issues, self-esteem issues, double standards and age limits on desirability. She does this in a very humorous, yet empowering way. The connection between Tess and Wes is written very erotically; but when it comes to the ‘love scenes’, the author has brushed over them or faded them out- which I thought was a little demure considering the theme of the book, and wasn’t in keeping with the characters experiences or the dialogue in the rest of the book. The book flows well and was easy to read- I read it in a day. It is a standalone and ends with a H.E.A. I really did enjoy this wonderful, sassy read and I am looking forward to reading more from Ms. Mathis Thompson.
Spinster by Nikki Mathis Thompson a surprisingly single five-star read. This is a standalone book about the main character Contessa Elaine Warner as her mother call her or Tess as everyone else knows her. It’s a story about a single woman and the pressure on her to settle down as she is now in her 30’s. Tess finds herself at the end of a series of bad dates and short term relationships, she has a 3 date rule and tries to stick to it, but sometimes the men are just too hot to avoid it. As you can’t get to know someone well enough to have a relationship with them after they have seen your hoo-haa. Tess works a writer for a magazine and enjoys the job even if the hours are long (not always conductive to a relationship) and pay isn’t the best. After she has a distrusters date with a guy from the Gym Tess realises she will need to find a new gym the fourth or fifth gym after this reason, she is running out of places to work out and not getting the satisfaction she needs. While out for a few drinks with her girls lamenting being single and the problems that go with it, Rebel best friends with Tess since school tells her she has the perfect man Donovan is a friend of her husband, he’s recently moved to town, good looking, financially stable. Tess asks the obvious question, what’s the Catch? Why is he still on the market? Turns out he’s a widow, but it’s been a couple of years. The morning after the night before Tess gets an email from another old school pal, asking if she would interview four people from school, for the reunion they are all a couple of years older than Tess so it’s not her reunion but it will be an easy job, Until Tess gets the email with the names on it, one in particular stands out to her, Wesley Caraway, or Wes as he now goes by. Tess’s teenage crush, the hottest boy in school who didn’t know she existed back then. Wes is now a super-hot successful lawyer and single farther to two lovely girls Kate and Ella, but he also come with baggage of an ex-wife with her own problems. Tess must make the decision does she try and replace Donavon’s wife, try to get a foot hold in the life of Wes and his kids, or does she go her own way and risk becoming a spinster for life, and become the cat lady she thinks she will, only problem being that Tess is allergic to cats. Nikki Mathis Thompson writes an honest story, it’s a single girls life warts and all, funny stories galore but also the tinge of sadness and loneliness that you don’t usually see, there is also none of the usual shame about the amounts of men you may have had in your bed, and no shame in there only being one either. It’s a well-balanced book that made me laugh out loud, and I am sad to see it finish.
Spinster? is a novel by Nikki Mathis thompson. This is the book I have read this author and it was a nice book to break up the angsty books I tend to read. Hearing her mom harp on how she needs to get a nice, suitable man is nothing new to Tess Warner. Being in her 30's and still single is just unacceptable to her mom and she does not understand why her daughter is not in any rush. Tess is just enjoying life and the dating that comes with single life. Focusing on her career as a journalist is quite a bit more interesting than the prospects in the dating pool in her life. That is until she gets an email from a former classmate wanting her to do interviews for newletters for an upcoming reunion. Nervous excitement is Tess can feel when she learns that her high school crush is one of the interviews being conducted, too bad he never knew she was alive in school. Not everyone is just as they were in high school though, and sometimes the lives we have lead afterward are the ones that shape us the most. Will Tess be able to handle all that comes along with Wes? Welsey "Wes" Caraway has had to deal with a crappy hand since graduating high school. Finding himself a single father of two girls and a career that takes up a lot of time, he is trying really hard to make things flow smoothly. Tess is something he did not see coming, but he can not pass up the chance to see where things could go. I very much enjoyed this story. I usually read much more angsty and dark reads so to have a book that is only lighter and funnier side of things is a great break from the norm. I recommend this book for when things are getting too dark and to remind us that life is to be enjoyed too!
Spinster? by Nikki Mathis Thompson is a five star book. I love how the author takes us on a journey of a normal, thirty something single woman. Who says a woman has to be married young? Who says a woman should feel insecure about herself if she is still single at 30? Why do people judge women of all ages? If they are 19 and married, then people say they are too young. If they are 30 and single, then they are too old and there must be something wrong with them. Our society needs to change it’s attitude and be happy for a woman whether she is young, old, single, married, childless or with 19 kids! Tess is a single thirty something with a lot going for her. She loves her job as a writer for an urban magazine. She is receiving huge accolades for her work, even from her boss (who acts like a stick in the mud!) Her life leaves only one thing to hope for, and that is to find someone so that she can finally get her mother off her back. Her mom refuses to think Tess could be happy without having a man by her side. As we travel through this wonderful book, we are taken through many of Tess’ adventures while dating, getting set up, and finding her strength as a single woman. She decides she is no longer looking for Mr. Right. If he comes along, great, if not, she will be fine with that too. She knows she has a wonderful group of friends who will love her no matter what. They love hanging out together and even when their lives change, their friendship stays the same or grows even stronger. Such a powerful story for any young woman seeking that certain man who she thinks will make everything just right.
The reason there are so many fish in the sea is because ninety-nine percent have to be thrown back.
This book is for every woman who has felt the pressure to settle down and find the elusive “The One.” What’s a girl to do when she’s happy with how her life is? Tess Warner is a strong, independent woman with a career that she loves, a group of amazing friends and is having fun searching through all the fish in the sea. While she’s not against finding someone to share her life with, it’s not a priority. (Unless you talk to her mother.) But when an old crush from high school comes into her life, will he prove to Tess that she’s not as set in her ways as she thinks? Spinster? is hilarious! I love the snarky camaraderie that Tess and her girls share. Sometimes all you need in life are your friends. What I enjoyed most is how the story focused more on Tess and how she changed during the story and not on the romance aspect of it. The sex is there, and these ladies hold nothing back in their conversations, but the emotional development of Tess and how she comes to realize it’s ok to take the plunge emotionally is at the forefront. I can relate to Tess, too, which doesn’t happen very often in a contemporary romance for me. The feeling that you need to be married and have kids by a certain age is a societal pressure many women feel. And to that I say, grab a glass of wine, ignore the ticking of your biological clock and get ready to spend an amazing evening with Tess and her crew! (I plan on dusting off my high school yearbook and checking out a few old crushes too.)
Spinster? is an amazingly funny, standalone contemporary romance.
It used to be that everyone thought that once a woman was over thirty and still unmarried, she was considered a spinster. Thoughts filled their heads of unhappy women sitting home alone with a house full of cats. However, that is still not the case or is it?
Spinster? written by Nikki Mathis Thompson is the story of Tess Warner, a successful career woman. She is proud to be a journalist for a pretty popular magazine. She lives her life on her own terms. She dates men when she wants. However, she also has a great group of female friends to occupy her time. She is happy the way that she is. If she finds a man to marry, she would be happy. If not, she is doing just fine on her own.
As her female friends start to pair up, marry, and think about babies, she still is happy in her own life. She keeps dating until one man changes her mind.
Wesley Caraway, one of the most popular boys in her high school, comes back into her life. Tess has to interview Wesley and her life changes. However, Wesley has not had an easy life in the years since they last knew each other. He is a single father of two small girls with no time for dating. Tess and Wesley start dating anyway. She meets the girls and she feels like her life is complete, until someone from Wesley’s past comes back into their lives.
I really enjoyed Spinster? Tess has a lot of dating ups and downs, keeping it interesting. Once we meet Wesley and his girls, you can’t help but envision a future for them, though you know how much Tess runs when things get serious.
5 star review Spinster? by Nikki Mathis Thompson follows the adventure of “thirtysomething” single girl Tess Warner as she navigates the treacherous dating scene with the help of her squad of girlfriends. Tess is smart, successful, independent, and attractive. She never lacks for dates but is having trouble finding “the one”. A random request from an old classmate puts her back in touch with her high school crush. Wes was the “It guy”. Perfect hair, kind, sexy, smart. He does not remember the formerly awkward, now hot Tess. They begin a romance that makes Tess question everything she thought about love and relationships as Wes has a complicated past with more baggage than she might be able to deal with.
I loved, loved, loved this book. If you are a fan of Sex and The City, you will love this book. Tess is funny, articulate, and brutally honest. Her group of girlfriends are so on point. Ms. Thompson did such a great job of tackling how bawdy and hilarious a group of female friends can be. The struggles and awkward situations that Tess finds herself in made me laugh out loud. It was an interesting read on so many levels. The relationships between Tess and her friends, Tess and Wes, Tess and her parents were so realistic that I felt myself nodding along at times. I recognized how Tess felt and empathized with her so much. This book was more than just a romance, it was a complete read. Cannot wait to see more from this author.
When we meet Tess she is going through a time in her life where she doesn't really believe that she is ever going to find love and that basically it doesn't exist for her. By the time we meet her she has gone through a parade of men thinking that she can find the right one for her but hasn't as of yet. First she meets Donovan who seems like a really great guy, but ends up not being the right guy for her. She is offered a job doing basically like an expose piece of a couple of classmates from the high school she went to for the up coming class reunion, when she gets the list of people she will be interviewing she is absolutely thrilled at the last person on the list. When she sees Wesley Caraway for the first time again its like being in high school all over again. She always had a crush on him but never thought she had a chance with him. Now that they are older, Wes sees her and her beauty and asks her out on a date. They start out slowly, and learn about each other and what has been going on in their lives since high school. Tess finds out that Wes has been married and has two kids, but is divorced. Wes finds out that Tess is a journalist who has never been married and has no kids either. Throughout this book we watch them fall in love with each other and we watch them have to go through different challenges, but in the end love prevails for this couple. I hope everyone loves this book as much as I did.
Spinster? Follows the love life of the main character, Tess. Tess is in her 30’s and is a single woman trying to navigate the dating world. While she is trying to do this, her friends, who out of love are trying to set her up, while her parents are wondering what is wrong with her that she hasn’t settled down yet. What I enjoyed most about this book was Tess’s sense of humor about her entire situation. She didn’t get down on herself and wallow in her single-ness. She embraced it and told her friends her dating stories, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I found this incredibly refreshing as many books based around a single female focus completely on her wallowing about being single and just going out there to find Mr. Right and not trying to make herself happy first. It's not that Tess doesn’t want sex or love, because she does. She just doesn’t want to settle for someone to make her mother or her friends happy. She wants to find that special someone that makes her happy, which, in my opinion, is how it should be, no matter how old a woman is. This was a quick and fun read. I think that all young women, especially single women should read this. It is a book of female empowerment. We as women do not need to settle for Mr. Wrong, and it is okay to have a little bit of fun while we look for Mr. Right. I highly recommend this book.
Tessa is a single woman in her thirties who is always trying to date and always seems to meet the Mr. Wrongs. Awkward sexual encounters as well as Tess and her snarkiness make this book pretty funny. She has a group of single friends who also have their share of dating issues. The group of friends is hilarious when they are together and it was interesting because you never knew what they were going to talk about. She has a good job at a magazine and she is comfortable and can splurge for her expensive taste in shoes from time to time. Her mother and family don't understand why she single and why she doesn't have babies etc yet. Tessa gets asked to do some newsletters for her old school and has to interview four people. One being an old high school crush Wesley. He has no idea she existed until she walks in his office. To say the mutual attraction is huge is an understatement. His past becomes more than she bargained and she really starts to question her baggage code of ethics. This is my first book by this author. I felt like the book was ok. I laughed out loud a few times because some of the things that were done or said were just funny. Not to mention the times that she says something on accident and gets embarrassed. Anyway I recommend this adults. It was a fun read.
Spinster? By Nikki Mathis Thompson is the first book by this author that I have read. I am giving it a 4 star rating. It was a tell it how it is, romantic comedy that will keep you interested the entire time. We meet Tess Warner who is a writer for a magazine. She is in her 30s and still single. Her mother believes that there is something wrong with her because of that. She just doesn't want to become the crazy, single, cat lady. She is what some might call a serial dater…. Tess has an amazing group of friends that stand by her. We laugh the entire time following Tess on her dates. When an old classmate contacts her to conduct some interviews for an upcoming reunion, she is shocked to see her old crush ( who didn't know she even existed) on the interview list. She can not wait to see if he is still as hot as he was back in the day. And of course he does. And what is even better, now he actually notices Tess. Will Tess finally get her guy and live happily ever after or will there be an obscene amount of cats in her future? I highly recommend this book you will truly enjoy it and laugh at all of Tess’ antics and her snarkiness.
This book had me laughing so hard. It was so realistic to a lot of women’s life. Tess is in her thirties an age people of the snotty life call spinster. Unmarried women who are to picky, ugly or gay. But Tess is no spinster she is just waiting for the right guy. Maybe there is no right guy she doesn’t know but she isn’t going to wait around for him. When someone from her high school calls her for a favor life throws an old crush into her life. Tess was so down to earth and real that I connected with her from jump. She didn’t pretend to be anyone but herself. So love or hate her. She had body image issues that we all go through. But she loved herself and in the end that is what mattered most. Wesley was so dreamy issues aside. I would have crushed hard on him also. If you are looking for a book that will have you laughing and crying this is it. This book will also have you ready to go out and tell every young girl that love starts from within and relationships are just a bonus. To never settle because you’re at an age where people think should already be married with 2.5 kids. Just me you and love you and if the right guy comes along and loves you just the same keep him.
A fun escape after a stressful day. I loved how Tess grew throughout the story. She went from somewhat unlikeable to a character for whom I was pulling. Recommended.
It has been a very interesting reading. At the beginning, seeing Tess's life go by without any direction bothered me but as the decisions I was making and the people with whom I was related, shaped their future, it made me see how women are so subject to the standards of the society that we forget what we want for us as individual beings. However, she was clear about what she wanted. Tess is a strong woman looking only to be fulfilled, alone or with someone, without forgetting who she is but more important being happy with herself before giving herself to someone else. Her journey to find her happy forever was not easy and she was fed with small and great experiences that made her remain a great woman, true to herself. It was nice the relationship with Wes and his daughters and I think the ups and downs they went through were necessary to get to the future they had. I loved that epilogue. So different, I was thrilled to see what Tess achieved as a special woman, strong and loving, when she always thought she would be the eternal spinster.
Couldn’t finish felt like the book tried to hard to be funny/cool. Hated all the body talk, like we get it your curvy not fat. Also this may sound weird but I felt like she had a lot of friends and it was hard to keep track of them
Spinster by Nikki Mathis Thompson was such a FUN and LOVEABLE read. I was able to read this in one sitting, and I loved every second of this book. This book will just make EVERYONE happy. Nikki Mathis Thompson draws us in with sass, one liners that will make you laugh, and AMAZING book boyfriends that will everyone will JUST LOVE. Laughing and smiling with a book and it was delivered!
Tess who is in her thirties, loves her job working at a magazine but she is very much single. Her Mother is so worried she is going to become an old maid or a SPINSTER. You will follow Tess as she goes on date after date, which many are disasters. And you will laugh just as she does. When she finally finds the one who she thinks is the guy she has been waiting for, she learns he comes with so much more then she thought she could handle. Follow Tess on the journey to see if she is ready to let the cards fall into place and take a leap of faith on LOVE. What I have to say, what I loved most about Tess was her positive attitude and how she keeps going trying to find the one that is for her with grace, humor, and a light heart. Tess is just amazing, and I know anyone who reads this will love her just as much as I did. Wes has had some crap luck since high school and soon he is the only parent with two small girls. When Tess comes into his life, he was not expecting her. He falls and falls hard and wants to see where this can lead. He knows they can be amazing together.
Nikki Mathis Thompson hit a home run with this book. This book will make you proud to be a female, with show you how to make humor in life, and overall self-acceptance. I give this book 5 stars and I know I cannot wait to read more of this author. JUST LOVED THIS BOOK and everything about it.
Tess is a realistic version of the modern day woman attempting to date. How many frogs do you have to kiss to find Mr. Right instead of Mr. Rightnow? What things would you do to make sure that you found Mr. Perfect.
What happens when a string of one night stands does nothing for you but leave you unsatisfied constantly. Wanting the wrong kind of guys who just won’t fill the void that is there even when you want to ignore that part of you.
Tess is in her 30s and which is a time where most women's clock is ticking away wondering if they were going to find that happily ever after. With her friends on her side egging her on to leave by her days of one night stands and meaningless moments and a mother who wants her to be almost as perfect as her sister.
You will see the real stresses behind what it is like to date in the 21st century. Some fun quotes that really summed up how I felt about the book.
“OM flipping G. Who is that?”
“I take payment in shoes and/or booze.”
