Based on the popular Munchies and Viceland television series Bong Appétit , this cannabis cookbook features 65 "high"-end recipes for sweet and savory dishes as well as cocktails.
Inspired by the popular MUNCHIES and Viceland television series , Bong Appétit is the Joy of Cooking for a new generation interested in making serious, sophisticated food--with weed. Bong Appétit breaks down the science of infusing (oils, butters, milks, alcohol, and more) with cannabis, and offers recipes ranging from weed butter-basted chicken to weed chimichurri to weed brownie sundaes. Along the way, the book hits on marijuana politics, dosage, and pairing strains and flavors, and has tips from MUNCHIES vast network of friends and experts, including "Bong Appétit" stars Ry Prichard and Vanessa Lavorato.
First things first: I do not consume cannabis in any shape or form, but am a passionate supporter to those who do want to indulge (or who require access to it due to medial reasons). Before reading this book, I was already a fan of Munchies, as my boyfriend and I watch a lot of their YouTube videos, and I also read, loved, and reviewed their other book, Munchies: Late Night Meals, last October. What I have to say about their other book and Bong Appétit is that I really like the cover designs, and dimensions of the exterior. If I had to pick a favourite out of the two, however, I would choose Bong Appétit. Don’t get me wrong though, the interiors are just as nice! (Munchies also has a Bong Appétit video series for those of you who are interested.)
Both the outside and the inside of this book are expertly and professionally designed, which is something that I noticed as a consumer as well as someone working with design. I also really appreciated the informative section at the beginning of the book. This book really goes into detail to explain cannabis (strains, uses, etc.) for those who didn’t know anything about the plant prior to opening Bong Appétit. This portion of the book was informative and concise, and also included helpful illustrations. The rest of the book is divided into drinks, appetizers, salads & vegetables, pasta & grains, meat, poultry & seafood, and desserts. Each recipe includes a list of ingredients, and explanation, and at least one beautiful, high-resolution photo. Overall, this book is of high quality in regard to visuals, written content, and value! I highly recommend it.
A really well done book that taught me more about the structure, botany, and use-ability of pot than I knew existed. The recipes are creative and modern though some a little intimidating
Love weed? Love food? Want to combine the two and blow your mind? Well, go no further! This cookbook is the perfect place to start. Learn to infuse weed into butter, cream, oil, and even alcohol! This cookbook is great for beginners and experts, filled with all the info you need to decarb weed and, of course, recipes to try. Bong Appetit takes "weed food" to a whole new level! This goes beyond those dankass homemade pot brownies you made in high school. This is fancy weed food. Food that you would eat even if it wasn't infused! I love how simple they make it. It's broken down that even my genius self could understand the process. I did try out the butter recipe and made some cookies... I was stoned! I will definitely be trying some of these recipes.
A cookbook for anyone who eats food. I said what I said. Yes, this cookbook is for everyone! No matter if you partake in cannabis or not you’ll be sure to find a munch-worthy recipe.
Don’t wanna eat infused food? No worries, simply don’t infuse your food. Substitute any infused oil / budder / dairy / etc with regular oil / butter / dairy / etc. it’s truly that simple!
The almost 30 page Introduction is a stash of useful information for a curious cannabis newbie and a seasoned aficionado alike. The kitchen science, cannabis science, and beautiful photos accompanying each recipe truly set a - high bar 😏 - for future cannabis infused cookbooks.
