The Shopping Swap: Uno scambio fortunato
Maggie Andrew ha un problema: deve convincere Richard, l’avvocato con cui ha una relazione da cinque anni, che è giunto il momento di impegnarsi sul serio. Come? Pianificando un’indimenticabile serata che inizi con una cena romantica e finisca in camera da letto. E per agevolare le cose, Maggie ha speso metà del suo stipendio per acquistare nel grande magazzino Crandall’s della lingerie nera e sexy a cui Richard non potrà resistere. Had the sappy feeling of what an early 2000s rom-com could be!
FMC has been in a 5 year old relationship with her boyfriend. They don't live together. He did not see her family. He works a lot. And he does not want marriage or kids.
Delulu FMC wants all the above and she bough for the first time a sexy lingerie in order to seduce her bf into marriage. Logic... NO, none.
The lingerie got swapped with a hideous house coat and that's how she met MMC who's British/handsome/ rich/ tall/ down to earth and 100%interested in her.
He convinces her to be "Friends" (But they flirt no stop) until she discovers her bf cheating and moves on with MMC.
Basic and simple!

OK...I read "And The Winner Is" within a day, so immediately after finishing it (and I mean IMMEDIATELY!) I started The Shopping Swap, and I literally read it straight through without stopping. I absolutely love Erin Brady's writing style. The story line was light, perfect for late spring/early summer reading. I have so much to do during a day, that in the evenings, I have to wind down and these books are perfect for that! I was able to sit and simply enjoy the story and the characters.
I can't wait to read more by Erin Brady-I am currently about half way through The Holiday Gig and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Perfection. Had me smiling from ear to ear throughout the entire story. Especially at the beginning with dear ole Alice lol. She gets it all and I love it. :) Such a light hearted fun, unique read. The way she gets back at the lady at the store too!! I wanted to give her a high five. Overall absolutely loved this story and would recommend to anyone who wants to laugh out loud and be reminded that falling in love is a beautiful, bumpy ride.

Sometimes I just crave a light read—one that unfolds without a lot of puzzles that I need to work through; without a plot that boasts more curves than Camila Cabello. This quirky little romance novel ticked both boxes. Simple, fun and well-written, I was indeed sorry to see the final page turned.
If you’re looking for a book that will make you giggle and leave you with loads of warm fuzzies, this is the perfect answer!

Riusciranno Maggie e Ben a rimanere solo amici, nonostante l’attrazione fisica tra di loro sia molto forte?? E Richard come prenderà la notizia di questa amicizia? Storia molto coinvolgente e divertente. Lettura piacevole e fluida. Inizialmente la trama ci mette un po' ad ingranare, ma già dal terzo capitolo attirerà tutta l’attenzione del lettore. Ben è il classico uomo che ha tutto nella vita: soldi, successo e bellezza e non è di certo un ragazzo che passa inosservato; ma con il proseguire della storia, emergeranno molti aspetti del suo carattere che me l’hanno fatto piacere ancora di più. Anche il personaggio di Maggie subirà una grande evoluzione. Il suo passato è segnato dalla prematura scomparsa dei genitori ed è cresciuta con la sorella che le ha fatto anche da mamma. E, soprattutto con l’aiuto di Ben, riuscirà a combattere tutte le sue insicurezze e ad essere finalmente felice. Le battute tra i personaggi sono ironiche, divertenti e velatamente maliziose, tanto da suscitare nel lettore ancora più curiosità ed invogliarlo a proseguire nella lettura. Sono certa e spero che amerete questo libro quanto l’ho amato io!

Volevo parlarvi della mia ultima lettura: "The shopping swap - Uno scambio fortunato" di Erin Brady, edito Triskell edizioni.
Mags è un'insegnante che ama il suo lavoro ed è fidanzata con un ambizioso avvocato, Richard. L'unica cosa che le manca è un anello al dito, ma lei è convinta che non pressando il suo amato, lui capirà di volere una famiglia con lei nonostante sia allergico alle relazioni serie. Decide così di sedurlo con della
biancheria costosa per fargli capire come sarebbe bello stare per sempre con lei. Quando a casa si accorge che nella sua shopper c'è una vestaglia e non un completino sexy, non sa cosa fare. Per fortuna Richard annulla il loro appuntamento, come accade spesso, e lei ha il tempo di tornare al negozio e rimediare. Proprio in questo negozio di intimo, mentre cerca una soluzione al suo problema, si scontra con Ben, un bell'uomo alto e moro. Rimane completamente affascinata da lui e per di più la fortuna ha voluto darle una mano: è lui che ha preso per sbaglio la sua shopper. Tra i due il feeling è lampante, ma Mags è fidanzata e ci tiene a tenerlo a mente. Ben, però, è affascinato da lei e cerca in tutti i modi di farsi spazio nella sua mente e nel suo cuore. Come farà Mags a resistere all'attrazione per Ben, quando colui che dovrebbe essere il suo fidanzato la tiene a distanza? Cosa nasconde Richard?
Devo dire che Mags è davvero un bel personaggio. È reale.
Cerca in tutti i modi di sostenere l'ambizione del suo uomo senza lamentarsi mai. Non trova nemmeno strano che lui, dopo cinque anni di relazione, non pensi ad una convivenza o ad un matrimomio. Per lo più non ha mai tempo per vederla, ma lei è così buona che non si accorge di segnali ambigui.
Nonostante venga trascurata e la vicinanza di un bell'uomo che non manca mai di farla sentire speciale, lei non cade mai in tentazione. Non sarebbe sembrato strano se, all'ennesima disdetta di Richard, pressata dal corteggiamento galante di Ben, avesse ceduto per un po' di affetto. Insomma donne, non siamo ipocrite, l'uomo che sa corteggiare piace a tutte, fidanzate e non. Invece pensa sempre alla sua condizione di fidanzata.
Io non ammetto il tradimento, ma se aveste accanto un uomo come Richard vi assicuro che verrebbe voglia di tradirlo anche a voi. Un essere abietto, fin dal primo momento non mi è piaciuto. Sembra quasi che lui si senta migliore di lei, mi sarebbe venuta voglia di dargli un pugno in faccia.
Ben invece è proprio un bravo ragazzo. Oltre che essere bello, ha un animo gentile. Sa come trattare una donna e non si approfitta mai della situazione che sarebbe potuta volgere a suo favore se fosse stato più menefreghista. Anzi, le apre gli occhi e poi non si tira indietro dall'aiutarla.
Un romanzo leggero e frizzante, lo stile ci permette di finirlo in un attimo grazie alla sua scioltezza. Non c'è un punto morto o di noia, ad ogni capitolo vi verrà voglia di leggerne ancora.
Vivremo tutta la storia dal punto di vista della nostra protagonista e questo ci permetterà di vestire i suoi panni e provare i suoi sentimenti e le sue tentazioni. Mi è piaciuto davvero tanto, perché mi ha fatto sognare senza troppi fronzoli o banalità. Se volete rilassarvi e godervi un paio d'ore di serenità, fiondatevi a leggere questo libro. Buona lettura.

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t absolutely hate this book. In fact, it was a short and quick take-my-mind-off-things enjoyable read, but there was something about it that didn’t sit right with me. And I have a lot of thoughts.
- Their meet-cute at the store was sweet and the whole Alice shenanigan was funny. But other than that, they met for 2 seconds, went out for a coffee, and suddenly Ben was all Maggie could think about, even though she was still so heart set on getting Richard on board with marriage life.
- BEN WAS A WALKING CONTRADICTION
I could excuse his “not a dick, just thinking with it” attitude up until their “coffee date” and he suggested they became "just friends" if that would help her be more comfortable around him. But then the flirting and the hint dropping continues. He invites her to the ball, where they basically walk around acting like a couple. They hold hands, he keeps complimenting her, then asks her to slow dance, nearly kisses her, talks about the things the dress does to him and then leaves the event because she’s upset and suddenly he doesn’t really care about what’s best for his future company anymore because all he wants is to be with her. Yeah. During the beach scene, he starts a whole ass interrogation only to conclude that she’s being cheated on. Then there’s the whole “I know we’re just friends and you have a boyfriend and cheating isn’t in your to-do list, but if you forget about him for like 5 seconds and give me a change, I’m sure we could have a good time”, and she’s like “let me figure things out first ‘cause I don’t wanna kiss you while still having a boyfriend” and he just sits there like ~aNd WhAt AbOuT iT~
HOWEVER, later on when Maggie finds Richard with a woman at their restaurant, and Ben goes to her in the middle of the night, he’s all “I don’t wanna be a rebound” “take time to clear your head”. [facepalm]
- MAGGIE WAS TOO BLAND
Maggie spent 80% of the book trying to salvage a doomed relationship whilst talking about another man 24/7, wondering what it would be like to be with him. She had little to no personality of her own, not to mention easily influenced. She was either super naive or mega blind when it came to her relationship with Richard. And most importantly, she was nosey and highkey clueless. I mean, she kept asking questions about Ben’s family and pressing for answers when she could tell he wanted to avoid that conversation. And the way she went all Mean Girl on Miss Snobby at the end? Not trying to defend her because she WAS a bitch to her in the beginning, but maybe she didn’t even know that Richard was “playing the field”. I mean, judging by the reaction Maggie got from people at his office when she showed up with the picnic basket, they either didn’t know he had a girlfriend or they thought he was dating someone else.
I think the book was really shallow. There wasn’t much character development, and Maggie just decided to grow a spine and snap the second she saw Ben at the store. Not to mention that we didn’t get to know much about him apart from “he’s hot and mega rich”. There weren’t moments that made me go all giggles and heart eyes, not even crack a laugh. If I wasn’t yelling at myself because of the plot, I had a straight face on the whole time.
This was okay -ish, and it might be the book for some people that are looking for something short and don’t mind what I pointed out, but I, for one, cannot wait to forget about it in a week.

It's been a while since I've read chick lit. My Kindle is stored with a lot of fantasy and paranormal and I tend to read books in order. In need of something lighter, I downloaded The Shopping Swap and am so happy I did. It was just what the doctor ordered. Maggie is a perfect chick lit heroine - sweet, hopeful to settle down/get married/have kids, a little too willing to make excuses for her workaholic boyfriend, but not above trying to spice things up. Her internal thoughts were laugh-out-loud funny and I did - laugh out loud that is. The secondary characters were both loveable and hateable (Not a word, I know) in equal measure. This is definitely the perfect "pick-me-up" type book for when you just want to escape into a fairytale complete with a prince and a happily-ever-after. This was my first novel by Erin Brady, but certainly not my last.

Molto carino, certo non al top per originalità. La storia ruota intorno alla ragazza zerbino-non-zerbino che crede nella sua storia d'amore pur sapendo di non aver nessun motivo per farlo, che incontra per un caso fortuito un gran figo con un sacco di soldi e che, grazie a lui, risolverà i problemi della sua vita. E ci sta, come commedia romantica va più che bene. Il problema è la caratterizzazione del personaggio maschile. Se lei è resa al meglio, in maniera frizzante e anche parecchio acuta, i personaggi maschili ci perdono tantissimo. Richard è un fetente e si capisce da chilometri. Ben è cotto e si capisce da chilometri. Ecco, forse quello che manca è un vero e proprio conflitto, perché tutto va come deve andare, e tutto procede così come ci si immagina. Nota positiva: niente amiche, ma sorella maggiore. E questa cosa mi è piaciuta moltissimo, perché è raro che si parli dell'importanza dei familiari stretti, e invece spesso sono proprio loro a dire verità scomode con le quali fare i conti. Da leggere? Sì, scorre ed è piacevole.

The Shopping Swap is by Erin Brady. It is a cute and actually funny novella about love lost and love found. You can quickly read the novella in an hour at the longest. It is just cute.
It was all because of Alice that Margaret Andrews met Ben Sanders. Maggie had purchased a set of black lingerie to wear for her boyfriend, Richard. However, when she got home she found a zip housecoat like the one Alice wears in the Brady Bunch instead of her lingerie. After her boyfriend cancelled dinner to work, she spent the night talking to the housecoat which she called Alice. The next day when she tried to return the housecoat and get her lingerie replaced, the girl at the counter was snotty and rude when she said no. However, as she was about to leave, a gorgeous British man came up claiming he had picked up the wrong bag and needed an exchange. The very definition of Chick Lit, but not in a bad way, and squeaky clean. Perfect start, with lots of humor, but also with all the cliches of the extremely rich and successful love interest, who used to be a player but is now looking for true love. It was a really nice read, but a bit too unrealistic to go any higher than four stars.
Reread it half a year later, and it was every bit as entertaining as before, although I do prefer stories where the heroine and hero are more on equal terms. I found Maggie a bit too naive, and trusting, and sobbing all over the place when she found out her boyfriend had been cheating on her.

4.5 stars! I adored Erin Brady's "The Shopping Swap." Who wouldn't with a housecoat named Alice? This book made me smile, and it was such a lovely, sweet and addictive read. Maggie is such a relatable character, and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I would read anything Erin Brady writes.

Il libro di cui vi parlo oggi è “The Shopping Swap – Uno scambio fortunato” di Erin Brady, una commedia romantica a tutti gli effetti, quella che già dalla trama capisci dove ti porterà e sai che il risultato sarà un bel sorriso stampato in faccia mentre ti accingi fissare la parola “fine”. Però, al di là del sorriso niente di più.
Leggendo la sinossi vi sarete già fatte un’idea di quale storia racchiuderanno queste pagine, e non posso dirvi che le vostre supposizioni verranno da qui in avanti stravolte, no, perché questo è il classico romanzo che va preso per quel che è, l’incontro con un principe azzurro che ti sconvolge la vita e che ti porta a mettere in discussione ogni certezza, per poi lasciarti a un bivio, sola, con la consapevolezza che sei tu che devi scegliere, e quando lo farai sarà solo alle tue condizioni.
Maggie Andrews è una maestra d’inglese in una scuola pubblica, fidanzata da cinque anni con Richard, un avvocato stacanovista, che ha come primo obiettivo quello dell’avanzamento della sua carriera, e poco importa se la sua vita affettiva ne risente, infondo ad attenderlo c’è comunque quella ragazza dolce e comprensiva che mai lo farebbe sentire in colpa per qualche ora d’intimità barattata con lunghe riunioni di lavoro.
Ma si sà, le donne hanno mille escamotage per portare a termine le loro missioni, e quella che Maggie vuole mettere in atto sembra davvero l’ultimo assalto al cuore di Richard solo per ottenere il suo lieto fine che contempla un anello, un matrimonio, dei figli, un cane non necessariamente in quest’ordine, e quindi pronta a giocarsi la sua ultima carta, va nel grande magazzino Crandall’s a comprare l’intimo più trasparente, costoso e sexy al solo scopo di sconvolgere e sedurre il suo fidanzato.

andando avanti con le nostre carriere, mi piacerebbe pensare al matrimonio, a

Quello che Maggie non immagina è che il destino ha in serbo per lei ben altre carte con cui giocare, la più importante, la più ingombrante e decisamente la più sexy, è Ben Sanders, alto moro e bello, il loro incontro scontro, porterà la nostra bella maestra a interrogarsi sulla sua vita e soprattutto sul suo rapporto con Richard, a lasciarsi affascinare da quelle piccole attenzioni che durante un lungo fidanzamento rischiano di essere sottovalutate.
Non aggiungerò altro, perché è un romanzo relativamente breve e quindi non voglio dirvi niente di più su cosa accadrà, posso però affermare che lo stile della Brady è pulito e semplice, purtroppo è la storia in se che non prende mai il volo, è tutto fin troppo prevedibile, e troppo facile da comprendere, così il lettore si ritrova a continuare a leggere frasi su frasi che non portano a nulla di troppo sconvolgente.
Insomma per una trama non troppo originale, un romanzo scritto bene ma con poche emozioni che riescano a renderlo indimenticabile.

Recensione:
Non appena ho letto la trama di questo romanzo mi sono subito drizzate le antennine e mi sono preparata alla lettura. Vi domanderete perché? Beh, io amo il chick lit in primis e come seconda cosa questa trama mi intrigava un casino perché somigliava a quella che avevo scritto anni fa insieme a Vanessa.
Vi dico subito che non ho iniziato a leggere pensando in copiature e violazioni di diritti in quanto io e l'autrice siamo due perfette sconosciute l'una per l'altra, tra l'altro lei è anche straniera, ma è formidabile scoprire la coincidenza di argomenti. Sul rosa è facile, lo so, ma non mi era mai capitato così tanta affinità perché anche in questa storia tutto è cominciato da uno shopping folle nel negozio più costoso di New York, tutto per sedurre un fidanzato che, a quanto pare, non vuol saperne di fare il suo dovere e chiedere in moglie la protagonista.
La scrittura di Erin Brady mi ha conquistato da subito con una contagiosa simpatia messa sulla bocca della protagonista Maggie, una folle e sopra le righe docente di inglese. Ho adorato le iperboli dei suoi pensieri folli, così come i tentativi di venir fuori dai casini che le si ritorcono contro, il suo evitare di affrontare realmente il problema parlando chiaramente ma tirando lei le sue conclusioni, ovviamente una più sbagliata dell'altra.
Erin Brady ha creato una piccola eroina degna dei miglior personaggi Kinselliani, mi ha fatto passare delle ore indimenticabili in sua compagnia, strappandomi qualche risata... e come sapete non è facile, al momento l'unica che mi fa ridere è la regina del chick lit, la Kinsella.
Si ride ma ci sono tanti bei spunti, si parla di donne che restano appese agli uomini in situazioni poco chiare per anni, mostra il bellissimo rapporto tra sorelle, oltre che la magia del colpo di fulmine.
L'unica pecca di questo romanzo è la sua brevità, c'era tanto su cui l'autrice poteva ancora scrivere catturando maggiormente l'attenzione. Uno fra tanti per esempio, dare più spazio alla conoscenza tra Maggie e Ben, far collimare e rendere più difficile l'innescare una relazione tra due mondi tanto diversi. Perché vi garantisco che Ben è veramente tanta tanta roba, così bello, affascinante, dirompente che lo vorreste ancora per molto sulla scena e scoprire tanto altro di lui... è praticamente il principe azzurro che tutte sognano, non solo bello, ma praticamente perfetto e pure semplicemente umano, gentile, disponibile.
Ringrazio la Triskell per aver tradotto questo piccolo gioiellino che mi ha fatto scoprire questa autrice che ha tutte le carte in regola per saper far ridere. Ora spero che tradurranno anche gli altri titoli

The Shopping Swap è, secondo me, esattamente come si presenta. Un chick-lit frivolo e leggero, un libro per passare qualche ora piacevole e non sicuramente un romanzo che ci segnerà.
Margaret, la protagonista, è la classica ragazza che troviamo nei libri di questo tipo. Una ragazza normalissima, la cui storia sta vivendo un momento di stallo. Richard, il ragazzo con cui esce da 5 anni, non vuole saperne di portare la loro relazione ad un livello superiore e passa le giornate in ufficio, tra pratiche e casi importanti.
Ben è il ragazzo ‘alto, moro e bello’ che Maggie incontra per puro caso in un negozio. D’altronde, chi di voi non passa le giornate a scontrarsi per caso con degli ottimi partiti?
Ben è comunque adorabile, un po’ stucchevole in alcuni passaggi, ma è il book boyfriend che cerchiamo in questo genere. Gentile, comprensivo, romantico, bellissimo, saggio. Anche ricco, che evidentemente non guasta mai.
Altro personaggio apprezzato, ma che per motivi di spazio è stato ovviamente poco approfondito è Janie, la sorella di Maggie. Un personaggio molto presente, anche se nelle retrovie, e particolarmente importante per la nostra protagonista.
In generale la narrazione non riserva grosse sorprese, quasi tutto è deducibile dalla trama. D’altronde quando prendiamo in mano libri di questo tipo non ci aspettiamo sicuramente la svolta del secolo.
Uno scambio fortunato è in sostanza una storia piacevole e romantica, con il giusto pizzico di ironia (e autoironia della protagonista) che lo rendono una lettura perfetta per passare un pomeriggio sul divano.

Tre stelline e mezzo per Federica D'Ascani.
Molto carino, certo non al top per originalità. La storia ruota intorno alla ragazza zerbino-non-zerbino che crede nella sua storia d’amore pur sapendo di non aver nessun motivo per farlo, che incontra per un caso fortuito un gran figo con un sacco di soldi e che, grazie a lui, risolverà i problemi della sua vita.
E ci sta, come commedia romantica va più che bene. Il problema è la caratterizzazione del personaggio maschile. Se lei è resa al meglio, in maniera frizzante e anche parecchio acuta, i personaggi maschili ci perdono tantissimo. Richard è un fetente e si capisce da chilometri. Ben è cotto e si capisce da chilometri. Ecco, forse quello che manca è un vero e proprio conflitto, perché tutto va come deve andare, e tutto procede così come ci si immagina.
Nota positiva: niente amiche, ma sorella maggiore. E questa cosa mi è piaciuta moltissimo, perché è raro che si parli dell’importanza dei familiari stretti, e invece spesso sono proprio loro a dire verità scomode con le quali fare i conti. Da leggere? Sì, scorre ed è piacevole.

The shopping swap è un breve romanzo divertente e leggero che ti fa capire che è importante l’amore per se stessi prima che per gli altri.
Maggie ha una relazione da 5 anni con Richard, un uomo ambizioso ed impegnofobico mentre lei vuole sposarsi ed avere figli. Fa di tutto per renderlo felice e non si accorge che la sua vita gira intorno alle scelte ed impegni di lui, finché non incontra Ben, un uomo molto bello e gentile che la fa sentire importante e desiderata.
Ben capisce di aver bisogno di una ragazza come Maggie e riesce a farle aprire gli occhi ad una vita diversa da quella lei pensava di avere. Mentre Ben è riuscito a capire, da solo, come poter essere più felice, Maggie è stata aiutata sia da lui che dalla sorella.
Ho apprezzato il modo di scrivere dell’autrice, semplice ma non scontato, scorrevole e preciso. Mi sono piaciuti i personaggi, ricchi di personalità e ben descritti. E soprattutto, ho amato Maggie, il suo modo di essere un po’ schizzata, un po’ la rappresentazione di tante di noi, e la sua crescita personale. Leggete questo libro! Dopo vi sentirete meglio…

A fun, quick read. I usually read thrillers/mysteries so this was a little escape for some lighthearted reading. I loved how this author wrote about everyday scenes with such humor. It was like she was letting you read what would be in a lot of our own minds. I caught myself laughing out loud several times. This is a really good book to read if you just need some down time and a way to release some stress.

Fun enjoyable story. Completely clean - no bedroom scenes despite what is bought in the lingerie dept. At some point, I was wishing the reporters would have taken a picture of Maggie and her friend Ben and that Richard would have gotten the message that way. Alas, it wasn't to be. I really enjoyed the banter, how both Ben and Maggie saw each other inside, not just the outside, and I have to lift my hat to Maggie's bit with Ms. Snobby. LOL.

Nothing happens in this book. It was forteen pages in before anything besides thinking about past conversations and exposition happens. 34% in and she has bumped into the guy and gone out for coffee with him. The rest of the events can be predicted if you've ever read a chick-lit novel. It wasn't even funny to make up for it. I read the whole thing with a straight face.

Cute story
It was pretty good. There was a lot of cheesy commentary in her own head. Didn’t really like that for an adult story. It has some parts that made me smile, but not really any that made me laugh out loud.

Ovviamente Team Ben tutta la vita dal primo momento che è entrato in scena. Richard proprio non mi piaceva.
Non vedo l'ora di leggere altri libri di quest'autrice perchè il suo stile è molto scorrevole e mi diverte tantissimo, lo consiglio a tutti

Non vedo l'ora di leggere altri libri di quest'autrice perchè il suo stile è molto scorrevole e mi diverte tantissimo, lo consiglio a tutti

Cute story. I was enjoying the book very much until almost the end. Then the errors came out to play. I guess the person that proofread the book didn't read the whole thing!!

I loved this book. so much that I didn't put it down the moment I started it. in a matter of half a day I finished it. it was witty and charming and I was smiling and crying and just couldn't be happier with how it ended.
