"Having recently completed training with Indigenous Corporate Training, I'm pleased to see the materials and supporting information book updated to address the evolving nature of relationships, modern treaties, the evolving legal climate, and shifts in engagement and consultation activities when working with First Nations. Having taken this course years ago, the new material is valuable in understanding the evolution of First Nations' application of rights and title cases across Canada's legal system."

I had been wanting to read a book that provided a background on Indigenous history and culture in Canada for some time. I recently heard about this book after attended a conference where Mr. Joseph held a workshop by the same name as the book. As a someone who works in Canada's energy sector, I felt this book would be beneficial in my future interactions. I have worked with many Indigenous peoples and have never had any experiences where I felt the relationship wasn't working out, but I think its a good opportunity to add some context and understanding.

There's a lot of good material in this book on indigenous history in Canada that should be covered in school curriculums . It clarifies a lot of common misconceptions one picks up while growing up in Canada. I found the clear explanation of legal rights and government and corporate duties helpful.

Highly recommend for anyone who works with Indigenous groups often.

I started this book in the summer, then signed up for the training of the same name, and I highly recommend both. Bob Joseph is an excellent educator - knowledgeable and passionate about his topic, engaging to read and listen to, and gives just the right amount of information on complex topics (with resources for further information).
