"The incomplete weave breeds the darkness..." Presented with impossible odds, the Guardians struggle to overcome the grief of their losses while holding against the Shadow Riders. Enemies from within are discovered, allegiances are formed, and they discover the true might of the Shadow Riders. As the war escalates, one dragon rider may have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save all.
If possible this last book in the series is even better than the first two. I could not put it down. The way the author brings it all together for a nail biting conclusion is masterful. I see an opening for a future book and so hope one comes. Keep up the good work MS. Tropser.
AAAAAHHH!!!!! Such a great way to end this series! I'm a bit miffed about the epilog, but very excited at the same time. I loved the "knowing the future" theme that Maleena struggles with and how that panned out. Gah. I want to say so much, but I don't want to ruin the excitement or stress for anyone else. I could feel my heart pounding during Loki and Vaddoc's battles. I wasn't sure my heart could take more death. I spent the first half of the book in mourning with Kellinar, wiping tears that just didn't want to stop falling. This is a fantastic series. Dragons, magic, epic battles, and oh so much more. It's series'/books like this that once you finish reading, you're never quite the same again - and you expect everyone around you to have had their world slightly shifted as well.
I have enjoyed the first two of this series since I met the author. I put off reading this one because I knew it would be over. It did not disappoint. If you enjoy fantasy with lots of dragon riding this is a perfect series for you. Much better than many “bestselling” series on new York lists.
A gripping fantasy with high stakes and real emotional weight. The battles are intense, the betrayals feel earned, and the looming sacrifice adds powerful tension. Strong world-building, sharp pacing, and an ending that hits hard. Highly recommended.
It was extremely tough for me to finish this book. Knowing the series was ending was ending kept me from finishing it. I finally did and I was crying, laughing and enjoying the epilogue as it points to more books in the series!! This is a wonderful world of dragon riders, and I can't to read more! I highly recommend checking it out!
Why do good authors ruin their novels' potential closure by hanging onto trite and overused concepts like "the balance must be maintained" or "complete closure is unrealistic"?
Gimme a happy ending, or at least don't mar it with a stupid, dark, tragic cliffhanger!
Once again Trosper does a great job taking us into the world of the Guardians and the struggles that they face. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to see if there's a fourth. Read my review of the book on my blog at: https://michelinam.wordpress.com/2015...
As magical as the other two books in this series, and as full of page-turning excitement. I couldn’t put it down. A first-class Fantasy novel! As with the other two books, there are a lot of names to keep track of, but by the time you get to ‘Ashes and Spirits,’ you’re already familiar with all the players in this epic war between good and evil.
