The world of illustrated books for children has found a new voice. Author Kendra Andrus has added her unique song to the treasury that is children's literature. Her books bring to life the simple, spiritual music that permeates the life of a young child. Music in the words, music in the art, these books are what make reading aloud both captivating and gratifying.
In "Chasing Sunsets", Ms. Andrus immerses you in the pallette of the setting sun while speeding you through an exhilarating ride from boredom to delight. But be warned! Speeding through this book will result in missing a wealth of reading treasure. Find the turtle in every illustration. Yes, every one. Match the shoes in pairs, which ones are left? Peruse the lake picture. Find the people, what are they doing? There's more, but I will let you hunt for the rest.
All in all, this book invites and inspires even the most reluctant read-aloud-er. Oscar Wilde advises, "If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all." You will definitely be willing to read this over and over again. I promise

Chasing Sunsets is a book about just that. Mom decides it would be a good idea to get all her kids together and go watch a sunset from the best location she can find. This is going to require a long drive in the car to get there. Now, I am lazy so I would have just told all the kids to look west. However, this mom is a better person than I am so the adventure begins. All the illustrations were colorful, and there were lots of animals, people, and a colorful sky. But let's not forget the gorgeous sunset. I liked the book very much and it was nice to see someone give God the glory for all things in our world.

Chasing Sunsets is a book about adventure. As a mom myself who is always looking for adventure for my kids, this book reminds me that we can find the simplest, yet grandest, adventure at the end of every day. My kids can relate to the ones in the story, riding in the back of the van, unsure exactly where each turn will take them, but trusting mom, and finding that they can trust God, to provide adventure, fun, and love.
