Halloween Party (book1)
3.5 stars
Enjoyable read with Mrs Oliver who is starting to grow on me. At least she’s not as oblivious as Hastings. First story I’ve read that seems to be set in the 60’s and also first Hercule story that I read that had children being murdered.

But a loose end of how Nicholas Ransom & Desmond Holland saved the day. I assume Poirot had them following Mrs Oliver as a protection service? Or did they just run into them by chance?

Third Girl (book2)
3.5 stars
Another story co-starring Mrs. Oliver. Book started off rather strangely with a lot of time spent trying to figure out if there’s been a crime committed or not. And that I found a little off putting. But I did like the fact that we were privy to how Poirot’s grey cells were working on the the problem. And the twisty ending was a pleasant surprise though I found perhaps a few logic errors as I thought about the book upon completion. Norma not recognizing that her father was not her father. After all there was the original portrait of him that she would have seen. And when would David have time to create the new father portrait? And Robert Orwell? Where did that name come from? Not even a hint of that name or character prior to the reveal. And why try and frame Norma? Everyone else thought that Louise died by suicide. Trying to frame Norma seemed an unnecessary complication that lead to their downfall.
