Love by the Mile

Rate this book
Bailey lives life on her terms and when she meets Sal, the reserved, judgmental, and altogether too sexy man, she’s ready for a challenge.

Trapped in a life of seduction and lies, Sal has spent his life being used by his parents to gain the upper hand in the business world. When he meets Bailey, he starts to want things he long though was never possible. They fall hard but the intimacy and love Bailey provides is too much for him to take.

Bailey promised she’d walk away if he asked her to but it’s a promise she simply can’t keep. When he pushes her away, she doesn’t give up easily. She’s determined to win him back and claim his heart for good while risking her own and Sal is determined to be alone.

A new adult contemporary romance, Love by the Mile is a dark and enduring love story. A beautiful tale of a woman who isn’t willing to give up on love, and a man who’s fighting to learn he’s worth more than only the pleasure he can give. Steamy, sexy, and sweet, this novel is sure to have readers cheering for the next book by author Heather Young-Nichols.

4 star review of Love By The Mile (Harbor Point #2) by Heather Young-Nichols
AUDIO REVIEW:
Author Heather Young-Nichols is relatively new to me, I have not listened to narrator McKenna Marie before.
This is Sal and Bailey’s story which I enjoyed; the story was engaging and kept my interest . There is more drama in this addition to the series and I enjoyed the narration in this one more than the previous book.
This was an entertaining and at times funny read, with drama woven throughout. I really liked the camaraderie between all the characters. I enjoyed Bailey and Sal, although there were times initially that I didn’t really like him.
Sal doesn’t know how to handle Bailey and what she can bring to his life so he will fight and push her away. Will Bailey push through the walls Sal has built, or will she walk away?
McKenna Marie did a good job with the narration and added to my listening enjoyment.

I loved this story, as much as I did Love by the Slice (Harbor Point Book 1)! Bailey makes my list of favorite romance heroines. It's not often that you read a young, female character who has confidence in her choices and her sexuality, who is not afraid to communicate, and who goes after what she wants-- in this case, Sal. Sal took me a while to warm up to, but once I got to know him, I fell hard. I also love that Gio and Bianca (from Book 1) have big roles in this story. Bianca and Bailey's friendship is real and solid, and Sal and his cousin, Gio, have a bromance based on family ties, a horrible past, and now their Harbor Point ladies. I loved the friendships in this book as much as I loved the romance. I can't wait to read more about this foursome, and continue my reading journey through the Harbor Point world! Gemma, Gemma. What does Ms. Young-Nichols have in store for you? Can't wait to find out!

I really loved the first book, so I was excited for this one. I loved the first book more, but still really enjoyed Love by the Mile. I think it mostly had to do with the fact that I liked Gio and Bianca's characters a bit more and I felt the depth of their connection more. Also, I wasn't loving how blasé Bailey was about sex; it's just not my thing. I still liked her; loved how straight forward she is and that she's comfortable with herself. I think it's best to read the first book before this one, so you have a bit more backstory on what happened to Sal. He doesn't believe he should have love after his actions in the past, so Bailey has her work cut out for her if she wants something worthy with Sal. Bailey is good for him and helps him deal with some of the things from his past. They do have a sweet connection and some spice. I like the way the author writes a story, and I loved that we get more of Gio and Bianca. I look forward to the next book!

I listened to the audio and the narrator did a good job. I do wish she would've changed her voice for the male characters more though. Still an entertaining listen.

Just like the previous book in the series, the emotional undertow knocked me for a loop and swept me out to sea. Sal, Gio, and Gemma are still dealing with the horror that was their family lives and none of them quite knows how to handle this new reality. Gio found his guiding light in Bianca in the previous book, and we get to spend a lot of time gagging over their newly-coupled adorable-ness in this one. Will Sal be able to find the same connection with Bailey or did their family destroy any chance for a normal relationship? Under his parents’ command, Sal has done some thing that he’s not proud of; things that eat him up with guilt. But Bailey has the unique ability to see the man behind all his masks and knows that the battered heart he hides is worthy of love. Will she be stronger than a lifetime of conditioning to make it through the diamond-hard walls Sal’s erected? Grab the tissues and settle in to find out. If you’re anything like me, the challenges Bailey and Sal face will bring you to tears before you reach the end.

This is book two in the Harbor Point series and my favorite so far! My heart broke for Sal and the guilt he harbored. The life he was forced to lead has torn him inside-out. Even though, he, Gemma, and Gio took control of their lives and the company, he doesn’t feel he deserves anything good due to all the damage he feels he caused.

Bailey is a such a strong, self-dependent woman who knows exactly what she wants in life. She has no trouble voicing her sexual desires and wants. She is confident in herself and knows her worth. She is the perfect person to help Sal learn he is worthy. She is unbelievably patient with him and does everything he can to go at his pace to not scare him.

This is such a beautiful romance that develops from a heart-breaking story of past abuse and mind-control. A wonderful story proving we are not defined by our pasts, and that we can take control and change our future to be hopeful, bright, and full of love and laughter.

I cannot wait for Gemma’s story!

I really love this series and these characters.
If I had ever liked Gio and Bianca, now Sal and Bailey are on another level, I just loved them!
Bailey is a determined woman who doesn't care for the opinion of others and goes after what she wants, while Sal is tortured by the things he had to do in the past at the behest of his parents and uncles.
When they decide to give a chance to a relationship, Sal gradually manages to open up and leave some of the guilt behind, but when unexpected news comes up, things don't turn out exactly as planned.
Will Sal be able to get rid of the demons from his past and be happy? And Bailey, will she be able to forgive Sal and move on?
I loved reading more about Gio and Bianca, as well as Gemma. I'm anxious for the next book in the series.
I highly recommend the reading.

Love By The Mile by Heather Young-Nichols is a heartrending story filled with lots of emotion and plenty of angst. Sal's parents lured him into a life of entrapment and falsehoods so they could achieve advancement in the business world. When Sal meets Bailey he begins to long for a better life. They fall in love but Sal regrets that he isn't worthy of Bailey and tries to send her on her way. Bailey is having no part of Sal's plan. She is in it for the long haul and is determined to help Sal see he is a worthwhile guy who deserves her love. Ms. Young-Nichols poignant love story is a real winner and is well worth reading.

I received this advanced copy and I am freely posting this fair and balanced review.

Bailey is a confident heroine, who isn’t shy about her sex life and knows her worth. On the other hand there's Sal who is interested in Bailey but given his undisclosed traumatic past and believing that he doesn’t deserve love, runs hot and cold with her. For a good chunk of the novel he acts like an immature schoolboy who acts like an arse to Bailey because he's got a crush on her. ugh Despite the revelation of his past, I never did warm up to him.

Didn’t enjoy this book as much as everybody else, something was just missing for me.

Love by the Mile (Harbor Point #2) was a great read by Heather Young-Nichols. Bailey has always lived her life on her own terms. She meets Sal and feels like she's ready for a challenge. Sal has spent his life being used by his parents to gain the upper hand in the business world. He meets Bailey and is wanting things he never thought was possible. They fall quickly but it is all too much for Sal. Bailey promised she's walk away if Sal asked her too but its too hard. I really enjoyed reading Sal and Bailey's story and can't wait to read more by the author.

I really enjoyed "Love by the Mile" by Heather Young-Nichols. This is a great continuation in the series and builds on the solid foundation on story line and character development established in the first one. I feel a connection to these characters in a way I wasn't expecting and I'm really looking forward to the third book. If you are a fan of contemporary romance, this book and this series is a great add to your collection.
Happy Reading...enjoy!

Although this is the second book in this series, I was able to listen to this book with no problems but I do really want to I listen to the first to here Gio’s story. Now back to this book! I loved listening to this book and the turmoil that had to be overcome and understanding that no matter what, everyone deserves to be loved. A great listen with fantastic narration.

A delightful read full of fun and witty banter of adorable group of characters. Hero comes from a dark past that he can’t quite seem to escape from and a heroine that will do all she can to save him! Full of drama and a sweet love story.

I read this as a stand-alone but is part 2 in a series.

Love By The Mile (Harbour Point Series Book 2) is a new adult contemporary novel that is swoon-worthy. A beautiful everlasting allegory that is sweet, sexy & highly entertaining. I love the witty banter between all the characters as I love them all but Gio & Sal are my favourite. Sal & Bailey will take you on a roller coaster ride of dramatics. A fun & witty humorous read that I highly recommend reading. I am so excited for the next book in this series.
