The Doctor's Hope: A Mail Order Bride Romance

Rate this book
A young bride who experienced a great tragedy, a doctor who wants a family, and dangerous times that threaten to thwart their happiness…

Emily lives a happy, peaceful life together with her parents and three younger sisters. But then tragedy strikes: their house burns down and Emily’s parents die.

The sisters soon become a burden to their family and money runs out. In a moment of despair, and out of options, Emily agrees to become a mail order bride for a doctor in the west.

Geoffrey has only one passion: being a doctor and helping people. Although he is content with his life, one thing is missing: a wife and a family to call his own. When his cousin offers to arrange a bride for him, he agrees.

The handsome, quiet doctor and his young, naive bride slowly get used to each other and start to care for each other.

But when Emily finds out that her sisters are in a dire situation, she has to make a decision that brings her in danger as well.

The doctor may be the only one to save her.

Will Emily and her doctor have their happy ending, and find the love and safe home they so deserve?

Felicity is living with her sister and family and having a nice life. She was taking care of Rosa as her sister and brother - in - law left to go do some work. It was getting late and soon the sheriff comes to give the bad news. What is she and Rosa to do?

Andrew has an ad in the paper a doctor in Montana. It was an answer to her prayers. When Felicity arrives however he has no clue who she is or why she is there and then his sister, walks in and explains.

Andrew doesn’t want to get married so Felicity becomes his housekeeper. Will she ever find love?

A quick read that leaves the reader turning the pages. The characters were great and the exchange between them was nice and funny at times. Another great book by a wonderful author.

What a delightful romance with a HEA ending…. Felicity lived with her sister and her husband taking care of their home and daughter her niece Rosa while they worked.. One day on their way to work their wagon overturned and they were killed, leaving Rosa in her care. With no work training, Felicity was beside herself wondering how she would support her niece and herself when she came across a Mail Order Bride notice on her churches bulletin board. At first she wondered why anyone would want to do that when one of the ladies at church said if she was single and young she would love to travel out west for the adventure of being a Mail Order Bride… Rosa thought about it and thought since she didn’t have any better prospect here, she took down the information and later that night wrote back. Several weeks later she received a response and train tickets for he niece and herself… Would her prospective husband like her or she him or would he reject her and her niece…

This is a sweet love story. Imagine traveling across country with your 4-year-old niece to be a mail order bride, only to find out your groom-to-be didn’t place the ad for a mail order bride. This is what happened to Felicity. She becomes Dr. Andrew Rivers’s housekeeper rather than his wife to give her an income, but she wants to be married. Besides, it’s humiliating for everyone to know she’s been rejected by the doctor. With 10 men for each woman, she should be able to find someone else. Right? See how Felicity gets the man she has fallen in love with. I would recommend this book to everyone. I received an advance reader copy of this book and this is my honest opinion of the story.

"The Doctor's Love" by Faith Crawford
Tragedy strikes in Hartford, Connecticut setting in motion a truly wonderful sweet romance story set in late 1880's Montana. Can you guess that I really, really, liked this story? You know what you want for the characters in the story... but you are not quite sure if the author wants the same for the characters. This is a fun easy read, not hard work at all just a simple pleasure. I was gifted an ARC copy of this story which definitely was a pleasure to read... I will need to be watching for other stories by this author. Happy Reading !

Writing Craft Issues Interfere with Enjoyment of Story

While the characters were likable, making me root for them throughout, I was continually distracted and frustrated by writing issues. Most notable were the pronouns that, more than often, referred either to the wrong person or were difficult to follow because they were so separated from the person they were intended to refer to. Additionally, there were several instances where the author neglected to describe what the characters were doing or when they moved, leaving me wondering what was going on.

This book gives more than I bargained for. It's a book of several stand alone happily ever after stories. Some Amish/Englisher romance, some secret babies, orphans, gold mining, and even a little royalty. The first is Elizabeth and Marcus, the next couple is Vanessa and Dr. Edward Harris. Another is Rebekah and Andrew Cunningham. Then Janelle Harris and Carlton, Henry and Theresa, Adeline and Benjamin, Rose and Abraham, Benjamin Paget and Rachel Higginson, and the last couple is Sarah Fisher and Hank. Each story is compelling and well written.

Very sweet short read. Felicity has lost her all her family except her niece. She has always been taken care of, but now what will she do? Martha wants her brother to find a wife and puts an ad out for him. Felicity goes to Montana thinking she is going to be a bride, but ends up being a housekeeper instead. What will happen will one of the single men court her? Will she find the one she loves? Will he realize he loves her? I received an arc copy for my honest review.

The Doctor's Love is a simple, sweet story of a mail order bride from Connecticut who arrives to find the supposed groom knows nothing about his bride! Felicity and Doctor Andrew are well-written main characters. I enjoyed this novella by Faith Crawford. I received a complimentary e-book from Sweet Reads. This is my honest opinion.

Imagine the courage it took to be a mail order bride. But to get there and find you are not expected? This story was an interesting read. To see the bride go from being totally dependent on her sister to finding a job and a life was inspiring. I enjoyed the book.

Thanks to the author for sharing the book with me.

This novel, like so many others, has failed to grab and captivate my attention. There are many different times that I can pick up a novel and cannot finish it at that time; however, I might be able to return to it at a later date. This is one of those, who knows, maybe next time it will be a game changer.

This is a lovely endearing short story about a mail order bride and her doctor husband to be. I haven't read any books by Faith Crawford previously but if this is an example of how good a writer she is, then I will be reading many more of her works. Emily lives with her mum and dad as well as her three sisters. When tragedy strikes and her parents are killed in a fire she and her sisters live, temporarily with relatives but money is short. So Emily applies to be a mail order bride for a young doctor out west called Geoffrey. He is a gentle, shy and kind, doctor who loves helping people. But he wants and needs a wife. He wants a life filled with his family so he asks a cousin to help him. The result being Emily. All seems to be going so well when Emily hears news that frightens her. To find out you're going to have to get this book yourself and find out! I hope you enjoy this sweet story as much as I did. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED.

What a lovely story this book was, it had a bit of everything I look for in a sweet historical romance read. I have read a few of Faith Crawford book and each one offers something to the reader. I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review that I would recommend to any historical romance reader. This is a short novella that will give you a sweet loving feeling when you finish and a hope to read more about these characters that you have gotten to know. I have read a few historical mail-order brides books and I found it unusual that the bride and groom did not get married straight away even with her residing in the same house unchaperoned to be very strange for the time. But in saying that the author never did give us a timeframe in which this story took place in and maybe the fact that he was a doctor this situation was overlooked.

This mail order bride story is a little different from most of the others I have read. It’s a short story, but kept my interest from beginning to end. It starts with a family tragedy. There is hope for love in Emily and Geoffrey’s marriage, but Emily’s sisters are living in poor circumstances, and then there is suspense with a near tragedy that affects all four sisters and Geoffrey. I loved the characters in this story and was so glad that there was a truly happy ending for all of them. I would recommend this book to everyone. I received an advance reader copy and this is my honest opinion.

"The Doctor's Hope" by Faith Crawford
A wonderful faith filled 'mail order bride' romance story. You can feel the love in the family, the heartbreak of tragedy, the determination for survival... and the "hope" & "faith" that abound. I was gifted a copy of this story... and really liked this read.. of about an hour and a half. I had rather forgotten how much more difficult and dangerous travel was in 1800's USA... I am glad I read this story,,, and I hope that you will really like this story, too !

Then Faith finds out that her employer is leaving and she won't have a job. Her employer tells her about her nephew that is a doctor. What will she do go to him and leave her sisters? Does she really want to marry a man she does not know? Will Geoffrey still want to marry her when she gets there? Will she ever be able to get her sisters away from her aunt? The story was interesting, but it needs a good editing. All the spelling and grammatical errors, inconsistencies of names (for example, Eda and Edna), wrong words (coiled instead of roiled), incorrect word usage (alright instead of all right, sister-in-laws instead of sisters-in-law), and confusion of homonyms (aid/aide) were distracting. I also read the first two bonus stories but couldn't get into them, so I set the book aside and have not finished it.

Emily, the oldest of four orphan sisters, is a strong, well-written main character who goes west to marry a friend's nephew in order to support her sisters who she leaves behind in Maine. Shy Doctor Geoffrey Godwin has never been around women. You will enjoy this sweet story of Emily and Geoffrey. I received an advance e-book of The Doctor's Hope from the author. This is my honest opinion.
