Born in Leeds, I lived a very normal life until I got bored one day and decided to travel the world. Since then I've worked on a Banana Plantation, cleaned ACDC's dressing room and been a professional clown. I climbed to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and the top of Kilimanjaro. Nowadays you'll find me being a climbing frame for my two young children, working in a school, and renovating my home. Did I also mention I wrote some books? I hope you enjoy them! Intense and suspenseful story concluding Charmaine's journey. The Regent is exposed, the anti-Magi movement serious, and the MDS is doing everything to get rid of the last remnants of magic users in Silverwood - all under the heartbreaking performance of greving Luca running on the TV, accusing Cynder and the Magi of the abduction of his wife. But exposing the real depth of this plot is a challenge for Charm, more so when her family is in danger. Elise is close to going into labor, Cynder is a wanted man, and Charm herself is not safe anywhere she moves. Even Luca's family is endangered, unaware of the reality of Silverwood kingdom. However, strong alliances were formen, and the just fight for freedom and equality would never die. Not when Charm has something to do with it. Fast pacing, full of emotions and built-up tension that threatened to burst out every secont. Well balanced and well written book, with a touch of fairytale feeling, and focused on fighting for a just cause. Politics and public appearances clash with individualities and private life, creating quite the strong contrasts and discrepancies. It shows well how much a good actor can fool the surroundings and manipulate people to bend to his will. I enjoyed the character development as much as the plot development, and felt strongly connected to the romance solidifying between Cynder and Charm, finally seeing the princess (well, queen) make the right choice - not only for her, but for everyone in the kingdom. Amazing story and amazing series that will definitely catch the interest even of the people who are not keen fans of fairytale retellings.
Charm is on the run from Luca with Cynder, as she tries to escape her former fiancee. Everyone thinks that she is dead, but she simply has to bide her time until she can take back her kingdom. Luca knows that Charm is still alive, but he pretends that she is dead while secretly sending his people after her. Charm wants to fight back, but her sister is getting sicker throughout her pregnancy. Cynder and her friends are behind her, but are they strong enough to take down a king?
This is the final book in the "Charm" trilogy, and boy does it end with a bang! Charm has fully grown into her role as queen, and she will do anything to get her crown back. I don't want to spoil too much because this book was an amazing ride, but I will definitely recommend to anyone reading this trilogy to actually finish it out! You won't be disappointed.
The romance between Cynder and Charm is finally able to grow in this novel, and I couldn't think of a better ending to this love triangle than this one. I also appreciated the fact that the family rallied around Charm's sister in support of her pregnancy and helped her through her illnesses.
I would recommend this novel to anyone looking for an amazing fairytale retelling trilogy with character development, worldbuilding, and an addictive storyline that you won't be able to put down!
I received this book for free and this is my voluntary review.
After reading the entire trilogy I feel a bit let down.
Charmaine, our princess turned queen is on the run because her husband tried to murder her and wants to finish the job. Mr. Nice and wonderful is a monster. Saw it coming so I wasn't surprised. Figured Charmaine would end up with Ctnder since this a Cinderella retelling.
Didn't figure she would be so badass and then wimp out over a minor detail. About that minor detail...her husband, the monster, grans the crown and puts it on his head before the people see that she's still alive and he automatically becomes king? WTF? That is so wrong on so many levels that I just couldn't wrap my head around it. It's also pitiful attempt at drama that should never have been written. This is only my personal opinion, but couldn't the author come up with anything better? Kind of ruined things for me.
J.A.Armitage is a marvelous storyteller! I was enthralled with this love story from beginning to end. The characters were written beautifully. I enjoyed reading this heartfelt love story. While it's genre specific, there were enough twists and touches of mystery to keep me invested in the story. I was cheering for Charm and Cynder as they try to make the world a better place even if the cost is their love. If course I wanted them to get their Happily ever after! They earned it. The main villain reminded me of old school villains. There is some violence, but nothing graphic. No sex scenes. I think this story is for 7years and older.
This book wasn't as good as the two that came before it. It had less of the Cinderella charm and the main character, Charmaine, became insufferable. She consistently made decisions that were as annoying as they were dumb. Without spoiling anything, the very end of the book was so infuriating that I nearly threw my ereader across the room. Any person with proper reasoning skills wouldn't do half of the things she does. I really wanted to love this book, but I'm not sure I even liked it because of the poor choices made by various characters. There's a certain point where you think to yourself that nobody in that situation would behave this way.
I really wanted to like this series. Unfortunately I can't really recommend it to anyone unless they thrive on pure fluff. Sure, it could have been a great story. I can see the potential, but the plot inconsistencies, silly politics, and grammar mistakes killed it for me. Without putting out spoilers, let's just say this last book is a major let down.
As for grammar, it needs a huge comb through. The biggest errors were in punctuation, however there were some formatting issues and misspellings as well.
For my clean readers: Includes language(though no f-bomb), an attempt of rape, a bedroom scene, murder, and violence.
My third read from author J.A. Armitage. I have to be honest, I don’t care much for re-written fairy tales and when I picked up Charm I thought “Another retread fairy tale”. I was wrong! This is a different take on the Cinderella theme and was so well-written I found I couldn’t put it down. Captivating characters set in modern time with social issues, terrorism & a *spoiler* HEA ending. This, the concluding book in the trilogy, the story continues seamlessly from the first two books. I’ll be reading more from J.A. Armitage.
Continuing from the prior book, our heroes are really in a tough spot. Charm and Cinder are on the run, friends and family are trying to let their people know the truth, while prince Luca tightens his hold on Silverwood. Action packed with lots of twists and turns. Towards the end I did feel somewhat frustrated with Queen Charm just reacting rather than learning from what she had already experienced. But overall I did enjoy this story and look forward to reading the next book. I did receive a free copy in exchange for my honest review
I loved reading this book. This is the third in a Cinderella fairytale retelling, told from a gender swapped POV, and it's definitely captivating. The characters are all wonderful, and if you have read the previous two books, then you know what parts they play in this tale. The 'kidnapping' of Charm that ended in book 2 continues in this book, and Cynder does everything he can (which includes involving many of his Magi friends) to help protect the love of his life. If you are a fan of magic and twisted fairytale retellings, you should definitely check this series out.
This one is by far my favorite of the three books! I can't say much yet, as I don't want to give away the book. You know how we don't like spoilers! ;-) Suffice it to say that there WILL BE MAJOR STUFF HAPPENING!! Pay attention...you're gonna scream, you're gonna jump out of your seat, you're going to question things...but ultimately, you're going to love it!! Seriously, this book is amazeballs!!
I loved this conclusion to Charm's story. I was on the edge of my seat this entire book and I loved it as much as the first two books. Armitage has such a way of writing that keeps you turning pages. This book was just WOW... and it was so good and there was so much action and drama. There are no words to tell how awesome and spell-binding a story it truly is. I'm so happy to have read it and yet I'm sad that it's over.
This is truly in the sweet endings category. Vengeance through forever after. All the lose ends are wrapped up nicely and all our questions are answered. Through some drama and action in and voila 5★s. :-D
My star ratings include these 5 elements: 1★ story line 1★ engaging characters 1★ use of world building/descriptive 1★ being well edited or narrated 1★ the ending
This twist on Cinderella made me love the fairytale all over again. There is all the love, magic and excitement anyone could want and it is written so well that I barely put down the series until it was finished. Of course now I miss all the characters I grew to love.
This final book had more magic than the other two. But that’s not the main thread.
It’s more about using your wits to come out of a seemingly impossible situation! Ask friends, use the resources available and wait for the right time to strike.
This story definitely has all of that! After reading this it feels like I’ve watched an action hero film. Lots of twists and surprising situations!
Charmed was such a great conclusion to this trilogy, although the way it has ended I kind of wanted one more chapter from a few more years down the line. The ending felt a little rushed but otherwise the whole story was as gripping as the other books (if not more so) and really did do a good job on having an original story line even if it is a Cinderella re-telling
A fantastic finish to a fantastic trilogy! I'm on the ARC team so got a sneak read in. I couldn't put it down until I finished. A reverse fairytale, but still with a wonderful ending. So... Which story will the next reverse fairytale be told for?
This fast paced action packed final edition of Charmaine and Cynder's story was perfect. Full of action and plot twists at every turn kept turning pages as fast as my eyes could read! I loved it! This is the best fairytale retelling I've read! Absolutely wonderful!
Loved all the cinderella elements in untradional ways. The characters were very well thoight out and work well with each other. Constant surprises and twists will keep you coming back for more and more. Especially the end! It’s so worth it!
All of these series of books will totally blow your mind!! This isn't just the normal fairy tale that we grew up to, oh no , these are totally different and so much more adventurous, and have you reading page after page to see what happens!!! Cannot wait to read more!!!!
I feel like it’s lacking in some areas, yet I still was invested in the trilogy from the beginning. There were twists and turns, as well as predictability, yet I still couldn’t wait to see the outcome of it all.
What a great ending to this series!! So much was happening in this book that the end came before I was ready for it. True love and honesty wins every time! Beautiful!
I wasn’t sure I would like this book but I took a chance and I am glad I did. There was just the right amount of intrigue, romance, danger, confusion and deception. I really had fun reading it!
