Miss Agnes Burton dreams of a gentleman, a knight in shining armor that sweeps her off her feet. Laird Keiran McKenna is nothing like her dreams. A rogue and sworn bachelor, she finds him irritating, when he isn't causing her breathless excitement. The more time she spends with him, the more the line between knight and rogue blurs. Not that it matters, because he'd never love her in return, would he?
Tammy Andresen is back and so are her roguish Scottish lairds, sworn bachelors who have been dropping to Cupid’s arrows with smiles on their faces and feisty females in their arms.
A SCOT’S SURRENDER is a quick and fun romance where we may know the final outcome, but the journey getting there is ninety-nine percent of the bliss! Agnes Burton is like so many young women of her day, she knows she needs a man to save both her and her mother from destitution, but she wants a knight to come sweeping in, complete with promises of love and devotion. Who she finds herself irritatingly attracted to is Laird Keiran McKenna, a man who carries life’s scars on both his body and his heart. There is no way he will let Agnes past his defenses, but he couldn’t have predicted how irresistible she could be. As for Agnes, she is discovering there is more to Kieran than his pretty face…
You know those reads that have you smiling as you watch two souls ignore the obvious or pretend that no one else sees what is going on? A SCOT’S SURRENDERis THAT kind of read! A little sassy, a little spicy and a lot of wonderful and entertaining reading in just a few pages!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Tammy Andresen!
Series: A Laird to Love - Book 3 Publication Date: March 6, 2018 Publisher: Tammy Andresen Genre: Historical Romance Print Length: 137 pages Available from: Amazon For Reviews & More: http://tometender.blogspot.com
A Scot’s Surrender is the third book in Tammy Andresen’s A Laird to Love series, and it’s another wonderful addition to the series. There is no doubt that I need more, that I will continue to dive into these books whenever I get the chance.
Last year I worked my way through Tammy Andresen’s Taming the Heart series. I enjoyed each of the stories, finding myself wanting more after each one. When the chance came about to start Tammy Andresen’s new series, A Laird To Love, I found myself more than willing to dive in. While I expected a wonderful series, what I did not expect was to fall more in love with the A Laird To Love series than I did the Taming the Heart series – yet here we are, book three and I already believe I favour this series over my prior Tammy Andresen series. I’m not saying the Taming the Heart series is bad – far from it – I’m merely saying I’m adoring this series even more than I’d expected.
I started this series with the short story, Christmastime With My Captain. Christmastime With My Captain provided an extremely short story that introduced me to the A Laird To Love series, and desperately left me wanting more. It was short, but it provided all I love about a Tammy Andresen novel. Whilst I really enjoyed Christmastime With My Captain, it is merely a blip on the radar considering how much I’ve enjoyed My Enemy, My Earl, Heart of a Highlander, and now A Scot’s Surrender.
My Enemy, My Earl, the first book, won me over in no time at all. It left me wanting more, desperate to see where the next story would take us. I found myself overly excited for the stories that were to come, in dire need of more from the characters I’d enjoyed so much. Heart of a Highlander took all I enjoyed about the first book and intensified it. There is no question of the book being one of my favourite Tammy Andresen reads – possibly my favourite Tammy Andresen read. It set the standard of the series extremely high, leaving me hopeful for A Scot’s Surrender.
Although I didn’t enjoy A Scot’s Surrender quite as much as I enjoyed Heart of a Highlander, it was a wonderful read. It was classic Tammy Andresen – quick and easy, plenty of action, an addictive storyline, wonderful characters, drama, and characters you will love. It works perfectly fine as a standalone novel, but it will pack a much more powerful punch if you read this series in order.
My favourite element of this one was the characters. I’ve fallen deeply in love with the characters of this series, but I was particularly excited to see this story play out. I was not disappointed. It was all I had hoped for between the two characters I was so curious about, exactly what I had been hoping for between the two of them. Plus, there is plenty of promise of what we can expect from the fourth book.
If you enjoyed the first two A Laird To Love books, then you’re sure to adore A Scot’s Surrender – it continues this wonderful series, giving us more of what we have come to love. I’m more than ready for book four, A Laird’s Seduction.
A Scot's Surrender by Tammy Andresen is a fabulous historical romance. Ms. Andresen has once again delivered a book that is not only well-written, but is packed with outstanding, lovable characters. Agnes is attracted to Keiran but she doesn't much like him. Keiran doesn't think he's fit for love and marriage. Their story is heartwarming and full of drama, action, humor and sexy bits. I enjoyed every page of A Scot's Surrender and look forward to my next book by Tammy Andresen. A Scot's Surrender is book 3 of the A Laird To Love Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What you wish for is sometimes what you get, although it may not seem that way at first. Does that get your attention? Well it should because this is another great story by Tammy Andresen full of humor, a sexy Scot and a sweet heroine. Agnes Burton wants to find her knight in shining armor that will be everything she is desires in a husband. But when she meets Laird Keiran McKenna for a second time, she know's he is not what she is looking for. Keiran is scarred from battle and felt he was not fit for any woman. As they are thrown together due to circumstances, things begin to change and sparks begin to fly. The characters in the story are wonderful and you will feel part of the story. Although this is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone story. Cannot wait to read the next installment and know it will be just as delightful as this one!!
A Scot's Surrender is book 3 in the A Laird to Love series. I'm definitely going to get the first two books and look forward to reading future books in the series. Ms. Tammy Andresen did a delightful job with this novella. I thought it came to an end too fast but it was still a great read. I would recommend it. I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
We met Kieran in the previous books and he was portrayed as a Rogue. The heroine, Agnes, holds their first meeting against him and finds his character wanting. Wary from her own father's behaviour, she wants nothing to do with any rogue but as the book progresses, she realises that Kieran is noble and has honorable intentions. Another sweet story packed with great characters!
I haven't been reading Tammy Andresen for long, but what I have read, I love - especially the tales of Scotland. I love the atmosphere of this author's Scottish stories. It was very enjoyable to read. 5☆
Agnes Burton wants a husband who will be nothing like the scoundrel her father was, she’s looking for a man that will be her valiant Knight on a white steed and sweep her off her feet! A man that’s a true gentleman one that will take care and protect her and her mother. From the first time she laid eyes on Laird Kieran McKenna he was everything but a gentleman! A rogue and broody Scot that makes her heart flutter and wishing that maybe there’s a gentleman hiding underneath his good looks and flirty ways....especially after that heart stopping kiss he gave her.
Kieran McKenna is a man haunted by his demons, a man broken by war. He’s damaged and not the man for Agnes. She’s light and innocence and his darkness will eventually destroy her, that’s why he needs to keep his distance from her. A gunshot from poachers has him pulling her in his arms and giving in to his desire and kissing her, and his world forever changed!
This was a very much anticipated read, I’ve always wanted to see Agnes and Kieran get their happily ever after. He was a man that was haunted by the atrocities he witnessed in war, his heart a wounded organ that was slowly being healed by the woman he always coveted.
I love Tammy Andresen’s stories they keep you turning the pages with hero’s and heroines that fight for their happy endings even though first they fight their feelings.
I highly recommend this, Tammy Andresen never disappoints. She’s my go to author for drama action and sexy stories ❤️❤️❤️
I received a complimentary copy from the author for my unbiased opinion.
Agnes & her mother have been left nearly destitute after her father died leaving crippling debts. However Agnes’ uncle takes them under his wing & the pair have travelled to Scotland to be near her cousin Clarissa to support her during her pregnancy. Whilst there Agnes again meets Laird Keiran McKenna who is a rogue and sworn bachelor & although he irritates her their attraction only grows. Another of the Lairds to Love series, which could very well be read on its own. The characters are well portrayed, Agnes is an optimist & her sunny outlook affects those around her. Keiran is still suffering from his time as a soldier & has sworn never to marry. An enjoyable read that made me smile as everyone else could see what Keiran couldn’t. It’s a heart warming story that has humour, a few steamy bits & some drama I look forward to reading more in the series.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
"A Scot's Surrender" is another thrilling story from best-selling author, Tammy Andresen. It's the story of Agnes Burton and Keiran McKenna. Agnes dreams of a knight in shining armor who will save herself and her aging mother from a life of destitution. Keiran McKenna is certainly able to provide for Agnes financially, but he's battle scared both physically and emotionally. He's sworn off marriage because he feels that he can never reveal those haunting parts of his past. As Agnes and Keiran spend time together, they learn that they cannot live without eachother. But Agnes is unsure if Keiran can be the gentleman that she desires instead of the rogue he's infamously labeled... and Keiran is unready to reveal his past.
Agnes is looking for a husband, not only to love, but to take care of herself and her mother, who have been left with nothing after the passing of her father. Kiernan is recently back from the war, having seen horrors that have him convinced he will never be normal and ever able to Love enough to get married. As their paths cross, there is an instant dislike between the two of them, she thinks he is nothing more than a rogue and he feels she is a stuck up lady. The more the run o to each other things slowly change and sparks begin to fly, no matter how hard the want to avoid them. Can Agnes really be in love with a Rogue and is Kiernan able to overcome the darkness he has seen and be able to love. I received this in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.
Agnes is such a sweet person. She is loving and caring and everything Kieran thinks he shouldn't want. But the joy she possesses is hard to stay away from, especially when they're staying under the same roof for a time. The only problem is that she has a certain idea of what gentlemen should be like, and Kieran doesn't fit in that box. But he carries wounds and scars of his own. And he's slowly shattering those preconceptions she has. I loved watching the romance between these two. The fact that the two don't completely get along is nice because it's realistic since all relationships have hurdles they must get over. It's a shorter read, but a great one!
Agnes is a sweet, selfless woman who is attracted to the handsome Laird Keiran McKenna. They have met on a few occasions before but have not been romantically involved. Although Keiran is equally attracted, he resists because he feels he is unworthy due to his dark past. Agnes wants someone who will care for her and her well being, given her past experiences with her father. This was an engaging story and it includes other family members including Ainsley, who is the complete opposite of Agnes. I will look forward to reading her story. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Another great read by Ms. Andresen in the "A Laird to Love" series. The happily ever after is there again but getting there is always different. Agnes always wanted the "perfect gentleman" as a husband. Keiran was not that guy from the first time Agnes met him when their wheel broke on the stagecoach while traveling. Agnes wanted that "knight is shining armor" and Keiran was none of that after the war. After spending a little time around each other, along with the other gentlemen who want to court Agnes, they find that although they may not be perfect, they may be perfect for each other. Delightful and entertaining, a quick read that will have you giggling and saying ahhhh!
Watching the sworn Scottish bachelor fight off his feelings for the sweet Agnes was an enjoyable read. Agnes goes back and forth from finding Keiran a rogue with no good qualities to fighting off her increasing feelings for him. Keiran finds her attractive but continues to push her away believing he is not the one for her. In the end they cannot deny their desire for one another as they are either sparring or kissing. A well-paced storyline full of drama, action, steam, and fun. A wonderful addition to the Laird to Love series which some previous characters appear.
A Scot's Surrender is another beautiful love story by Ms. Andresen. Though it is a novella the characters are well developed and there is plenty of action and drama. Our hero and heroine are drawn to each other but fight their attraction. Someone actually has to get shot before they realize how much in love they are. Who gets shot? Well, you will have to read the book to find out. Get it. You won't regret it.
I so enjoy reading this author's romance stories. They remind me of my favorite plush blanket that I wrap around myself for no other reason than comfort and security. Adorably sweet and truly heart-warming, this was a fantastically easy read and it hit all the right notes as I was taken into a far-away land and was distracted from the grind of everyday life. And isn't that what a story should do?
A good solid read. One thing though, the door knob was invented in 1878 about twenty~six years after 1852 or 1853 which is this story's Timeline. Plus Ewan's keep is poor and recovering (and even if such items are available), I am guessing door knobs are a luxury he can not afford thus not a priority?
Having read Ewan and Clarissa's story and meeting Keiran and Agnes in that one, I was definitely intrigued to read how Agnes would tame th rakish Keiran. Their book didn't disappoint and I found it tremendously enjoyable. Keiran fought love but ended up not being able to resist its pull. Highly recommend this book.
Keiran and Agnes are very strong character in this story. Keiran didn't want to fall in love it took someone very special to change that person and give them a second chance and to give either people a second chance also. I give this story a five star rating because of the story and the love they give
I have just fallen in love with your books about the Scottish and history that been into the stories, I have learned so much from these books The love that you pour into them, makes my heart sing. Thank you. Ada G.
Sweet Scottish Historical romance with a brooding handsome hero and sweet loving London born heroine. Agnes and Kiernan fight their strong attraction to each other to no avail. Love wins out to bring them their own Happy Ever After
This book was a quick read. I have loved this series and was thrilled to read Kieran and Agnes's story. The characters are wonderfully written. I look forward to the next book in this series.
A man damaged by war and a woman who is full of peaceful innocence. Kieran McKenna and Agnes Burton are two richly developed characters who you can't help but be drawn to through Tammy Andresen's wonderful writing.
Loved this story too. It proves that love has a mind of its own and in the end love will always win! I love how this series sets up all these characters so they become like family as you read each book in the series. Once again, highly recommend.
A SCOT’S SURRENDER: Got off to a great start, perfect dialogue, good personality contrasts, nice storylines. Then this book seemed rushed to the finish as a ‘set up’ for future books.
5 well deserved stars. New these reoccurring characters from previous books, so you can get into book immediately, and start to enjoy it right away. They are both reluctant to be close because of very sad pasts. It is fun to see their feelings slowly change. The story is exciting, funny, and romantic with some steamy parts, adding to story. It is fun to follow all the reoccurring H and h stories. Never a dull moment, it takes you for great ride. I recommend this, as I do all of her books. Can’t wait to start next one.
