As the illegitimate daughter to the queen of Colony 15, Kiana has no interest in power or politics, yet she’s horrified by her mother’s cruelty. When her mother orders an injured warrior from another colony to be thrown out with the trash, Kiana implores her for the opportunity to heal him. Kiana does everything she can to save him—including pretending to take him as a lover.

Chaldor wakes up in the arms of a dark chocolate angel with addictive kisses. He’s willing to play the part of her pet. Kiana is the only good thing on C15 and he will take her with him when he escapes. She’ll be his forever—even if there are people dead set against them being together.

What a very unique universe but to me the story had some Cinderella elements with heroine, Kiana being afraid of her cruel stepmother and even more so of her evil step sister, Diamond! But when it came to hero, Chaldor, she stood her ground... to heal him and more!!!!!

This was an enjoyable but sweet tale from beginning to end and I can't wait to read Dark's story next.
I will reread Whimsy and Gadrian's story because it is one of my all time favorite by Thayer King!

4 enjoyable stars ****

Part 2

I really enjoyed this book, I read Whimsy a while ago and it was good. I was interested in this universe, the colonies and the people. I am so glad we got a sequel and I hope to read more about the characters in this unique universe

Weak heroine

I gave four stars for the premise and the writing. But, the heroine was extremely weak and passive. Really thought Chaldor deserved better than such a spineless woman. Sure, having such a domineering, violent, and malicious mother and sister may have influenced her being such a shrinking violet, but I disliked her and her timidity, regardless. The gumption she tried to get in the end was a joke. I already have the first book in this series on the delete list. This will be joining it. If Dark's story is next, I may return. Otherwise, I'm done. I actually like, love in some instances, many of the author's other books. This series just does nothing for me.

Loved it!!

I really enjoyed this syfi romance. It was just the right amount of something extra to be considered syfi without getting complicated or weird. I loved the relationship between Chaldor and Kiana. It was hot and innocent all rolled into one. There was just enough drama to make things interesting without overdoing it, and the heat factor was at the perfect setting. I loved this story and I cannot wait to see what Dark is all about.

It was ok, good beginning I like the whole being the “black sheep” in her family scenario, made it more relatable. But honestly it was nothing special. Could’ve been longer though. I did especially like the character Dark, he was mysterious and interesting, and I cant wait to read his book. But towards the end this book felt kind of rushed. She’s known him for about a week and they’re already getting married. And I wanted to know more about her feyron origin and the Dark sphere but of course he didn’t go into detail with that, and it’s the wrong book to talk about the Dark sphere.

Well Matched

Alas, Chaldor’s story was as yummy unique as Gaedrian’s in book one. I love this author’s imagination and originality! Go, Ms. King! Chaldor is a swoony blonde warrior hottie with a soft spot for our healer girl, Princess Kiana. No spoilers here, but this novel satisfies on several levels-action, chemistry, family feuds, more encounters with the deliciously mysterious Dark character and more!

Loved this book!

I love first book in the series, Whimsy. I didn’t realize so there was a second book or even a third. It was a happy accident that I discovered the two additional books in the series. I would definitely recommend this second book, Chaldor. I started reading this book on a vacation with my best friends. Totally worth the time I spent reading it. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first book.

Great Read

I think Whimsy is my favorite Thayer King book and now we're adding the sequel to my list of favorites. I fell in love with the setting and it was so great to visit that world again. Chaldor is such a great read. I enjoyed his and Kiana's story. It was also great to visit Whimsy and Gaedrian and Dark again.

!

I enjoyed this one as much as the first. Kianna and Chaldor were a romantic match, despite Kianna's mysterious origins and her cruel mother and sister. It was a good read with plenty of spicy moments and those that include the tender romance. But can we please get a story for Dark, it's been forever and the anticipation is killing me!

Love this

I'm really enjoying this universe. I can't always get into sci-fi romance books, usually too much time is spent on world building but these are easy to follow & fun to read. I can't wait read the next installment. I hope we get more books on the colonies.

I’m always surprised when a novel this short packs so much story. Great writing. Unique storyline. Complex characters. Creative settings. An enjoyable read.
