Abdelkebir Khatibi (1938-2009) was among the most renowned North African literary critics and authors of the past century whose unique treatments of subjects as vast as orientalism, otherness, coloniality, aesthetics, linguistics, sexuality, and the nature of contemporary critique have inspired major figures in postcolonial theory, deconstruction, and beyond. At once a philosophical visionary and provocative writer, Khatibi's impressive contributions have been well-established throughout French and continental literary circles for several decades.

As such, this English translation of one of his masterworks, Maghreb Pluriel (1983), marks a pivotal turn in the opportunity to wrest some of Khatibi's most profound meditations to the forefront of a more global audience. About the author

Abdelkebir Khatibi (11 February 1938 – 16 March 2009) was a Moroccan literary critic, novelist and playwright. Affected in his late twenties by the rebellious spirit of 1960s counterculture, he challenged in his writings the social and political norms upon which the countries of the Maghreb region were constructed.





عبد الكبير خطيبي روائي مغربي وعالم اجتماع، وأخصائي بالأدب المغاربي. ولد بمدينة الجديدة المغربية سنة 1938، وتوفي في الساعات الأولى من صباح اليوم الإثنين 16 مارس 2009 في أحد المستشفيات بالرباط، عن عمر يناهز 71 عاما، بعد معاناة مع المرض.

درس علم الاجتماع بجامعة السوربون، بباريس حيث قدم مبحثا حول الرواية المغاربية (Le Roman Maghrébin) حيث تطرق إلى إشكالية تجنب روائيٍّ الدعايةَ في سياق مجتمع في حقبة ما قبل الثورة. أصدر سنة 1971 روايته الأولى، الذاكرة الموشومة (La Mémoire Tatouée). نشر قصصا وروايات ونظم قصائد وكتب محاولات كثيرة حول المجتمعات والفن الإسلاميان. ينتمي إلى الجيل الشاب للستينيات الذي تحدى المعايير الاجتماعية والسياسية التي انبنى عليها المغرب العربي.

يدرس عبد الكبير االخطبلب الأدب. يحظى هذا الأستاذ الجامعي بتقدير كبير ويعد من أهم المعلقين على الساحة السياسية المغربية.




* مهامه :
وتقلد الخطيبي عدة مناصب أكاديمية،

حيث شغل أستاذا جامعيا بكلية الآداب والعلوم الإنسانية بجامعة محمد الخامس بالرباط،
وأستاذا مساعدا ،ثم مديرا لمعهد السوسيولوجيا السابق بالرباط،
فمديرا للمعهد الجامعي للبحث العلمي.
انضم عبد الكبير الخطيبي إلى اتحاد كتاب المغرب في ماي عام 1976.
وعمل رئيسا لتحرير "المجلة الاقتصادية والإجتماعية للمغرب "، كما كان يدير مجلة)علامات الحاضر).
وتتميز مجالات إنتاجه بالتعدد والتنوع بين الكتابة الإبداعية (الشعر، الرواية، المسرح...) والدراسة الأدبية
وبتعليمات خاصة من ملك المغرب محمد السادس سيحتفظ الخطيبي مدى الحياة بصفته كأستاذ جامعي بكلية الآداب والعلوم الإنسانية بجامعة محمد الخامس بالرباط، مع تمتيعه بكافة الامتيازات ذات الصلة.
