by Angus Hyland, Дж. (Translator)

This is a wonderful coffee table book featuring dogs that have been dipicted in beautiful and moving artwork. This book was one of my favorite Christmas gifts this holiday season and I would recommend this to all dog and art lovers!

I received this as a birthday gift from someone who knows me well. It's a beautiful little art book to page through, sprinkled with notes about some the featured artists and also fun little observations about dogs and specific breeds. My favorite painting of the collection was called Dog, by Mary Anne Aytoun-Ellis. That said, I enjoyed all the drawings and paintings, and I was surprised by how many contemporary artists were included in the collection. Much of the artwork was from the past 10 years.
It's a lovely collection and the perfect gift for a dog lover.

I can only say pretty much what I said about Hyland's other book, "The Book of the Bird." Eclectic, wide-ranging, lovely and charming, chock full of images of dogs from classic paintings to contemporary design, selected with a discerning and unique eye. Sighthound lovers in particular will find much to savor - whippets, lurchers, greyhounds abound, and why not? What could be more elegant to an artist? (Disclaimer: I'm an Italian Greyhound person, and would kill for Pieter Pander's Whippet on a Table). Delightful book for lovers of dogs and art. Props to Hyland for including contemporary artists whose art is available and affordable - I bought a chickadee painting from someone in the Birds volume, and a cat etching (hey, I like cats too) from an artist in this one. Enjoy!

Picked this up at a local art museum because it looked cute, and I was not disappointed!
I mean, I was obviously disappointed that there was only one bichon in the entire book. As the greatest breed they deserve way more page time. But apart from that I wasn't disappointed.

In all seriousness, it’s the perfect coffee table book for anyone who loves dogs, art and a combination of the two.
I did not expect there to be such a balance between pre-modern, modern and contemporary art in here. If I’m being honest, the latter two aren't really my thing, but I do have to give kudos for including so many contemporary artists in this. There are a some that I liked surprisingly much, and that I will have to look up.

All in all: a great little book. I've already decided to buy the cat edition for a friend for Christmas.

We bought this from the gift shop of the Towner Gallery in Eastbourne when we visited recently as a distraction having recently said Goodbye to our dog, a dog who we willingly and happily normally planned our weekends around. The back cover of the book reads “This book needs a home”. Once I’d seen that it couldn’t be left in the shop but needed to come home with us.

I’ve enjoyed looking through this. It has sat on a coffee table in our living room for the past month and it has brought comfort and joy in its collection of artworks featuring dogs. Some I knew of - in fact it reminded me that we had a Todd Young print somewhere. Many I didn’t. All brought smiles.

A great book for a dog lover

THIS IS A PLACEHOLDER FOR "Если у вас нет собаки..."

I enjoyed the short texts, nuggets of information and observation, placed thoughout the book. It also was a pleasant surprise that there were so many styles of art represented, including a good number of works by contemporary artists. I think this would make a great gift for people who love dogs. Great little coffeetable book as well, you can dip in and out of it as you please.

I got this as a gift and as a art & dog lover, I adore it so much! The print quality is good and the haptic is nice as well. I also like the diverse range of dog art in the book. A well curated small book sparking joy and fun! Love it!

This is my last book of 2025 and it’s a short one but a cute one. It has a lot of artwork featuring dogs. My favorite part of it was the artwork that were from the past I didn’t like the modern ones quite as much.

[Mia Leannah]

so good if you love dogs

[Yevheniia S.]

Visually perfect 🐾🐾❤️

[Ira Bril]

[Jocelyn Mel]

Best book of dog images and comments that I’ve ever seen, and I collect this genre. The binding is beautiful and the choice of art exceptional: Very sensitive and beautiful but not cloying.

Lovely, silly, definitely going to live in my bathroom 😆

Çok eğlenceli bir koleksiyon kitabı

[Victoria Dembrovska]

[Rendell]

This book was gifted to me because of my love of dogs and art. I loved seeing and reading about artists’ dogs, dogs they painted and the way our relationships with dogs are portrayed in art.

Subjektīvi, protams, neesmu objektīva, jo dot mākslas grāmatu par suņiem cilvēkam, kuram patīk suņi, nav prātīga doma. Tātad grāmatas ideja man ļoti patika.

Absolutely gorgeous!!!
