This book was fantastic!

I see quite often on my feed here people talking about their anxiety, depression and feelings of sadness and hopelessness. I urge those people to give this book a try. I found it very motivating and encouraging, and instead of saying "This is how you should be" it is more of a gentle "This is how you could be". There's an enormous difference between the two as anyone with mental health issues can tell you.

Its a deceptive title, its not about being 100% happy for 100 days in a row. If it were I would have put it down and walked away. I suffer from depression and crippling anxiety, and being 100% happy for 100 days is completely unobtainable for me. Its just not going to happen because my body wont let it, however much I would like it to. I'm pretty sure people without mental illness wouldn't be able to be 100% happy all of the time. That's just asking too much out of life.

No, this book is more about finding one small thing in you day that makes you happy even if the rest of your day is a complete write off. As mine often are. It opens your mind to experiencing the good instead of focusing on the bad.

The book is a series of suggestions and prompts which I loved, because they were so simple and completely doable. Take for example, a few of my favorites;

Finish Something - finish a task you have been putting off, such as writing a letter, taking clothes to the dry cleaners, or cleaning out a drawer.
Play Catch - being together, yet apart helps to focus the mind and clear away negative thoughts
Put A Pencil Between Your Teeth - sounds weird, I know. But putting a pencil between your teeth forces your face to hold its muscles in a certain way; simulating a smile. Real or induced, a smile reduces stress by releasing feel good chemicals into your system.
Strike a Power Pose - posture has an affect on mood

I love the simplicity of these suggestions. I also love how they were all backed up by explanations, scientific evidence and studies, and plain old common sense.

If you're looking for a way to appreciate more of life's finer moments, do read this, you will be surprised by the way you can find joy in the smallest of things.

I was struggle with handling emotion lately,,its like roller coaster.. happy, angry, upset,, disappointed and sad keep changed drastically. this book give an idea how to make yourself happy.. one of things that i take from this book is every week you write something positive in your book for a few months.. and researchers find it improve happiness and optimism. Just finish this book make me feel happy lol😊.. smile and just focus on positive things.. don't let the negativity take control of your mind. People need to read this. Learn that happiness is a choice. After learn, your reward is a unique and beautiful perspective on life😁

Yes, it’s another little book of beautifully illustrated ideas of small ways to experiment with being happy, but it is quite novel and it’s filled with small ideas that anyone could easily incorporate into a busy life. Open to a random page and try something. It’s that easy.

I will take the #100happydays challenge in 2018.

Throughout the book, you'll find ideas, inspirations, and research-based findings on what tends to make us happy. So that you can better understand why self-care, physical activity, and connecting to nature, for example, are essential to achieving lasting happiness. The most important thing to remember is that this is for you and no one else. Discovering what makes you happy is its own success!

Quick read if you want to read it in one go. I really liked the ideas and I think I will give this challenge a try. Also I like the information the author provides, why she included an exercise. Very interesting.

Not so visually pleasing attempt to waste some paper. How sad of an existence to have in order to need such a check list?

Joyful!

This little book is filled with ways to make yourself happy in teeny tiny ways (smile, chocolate), and big ways (volunteer, travel) and is just a delight!😀😀😀😀😀

I......expected the content to be more in-depth rather than a list of activities I can do to be happy, with a mix of difficult-to-read scribbly graffiti. Anyone can come out with their own list of activities that make them happy. So if you are looking for anything more in-depth than this, you might not enjoy this book as well.

While I agree with the previous review that the visual element is not the strongest part of this book, but let it not scare you away from the content itself.

There is no pretentious language, no confusing abbreviation, no scientific snobbyism. The book delivers what it promises in a very conversational way and easy digestible way - 100 practical ways how you can "happify" your day and build the habit of seeing the world through the positive lense. In the end the core message is that happiness is not only for scientists to understand in their research papers. Instead, it's for each one of us to discover by trying new things!

I've personally done the 100happydays challenge before the book came out and then one more time while reading the book. It was a different experience that I would recommend other readers to try. On the "bright days" it will give you the kick to go out of comfort zone, and on "not-so-sunny-days" - the tips to find a way to shift the perspective.

This was a relaxation read.
I cannot keep this book apart from any other inspirational book. I think it is quite ordinary and shallow. Maybe just to remind how easy it is to be happy. Finding happiness in little things...
Good thing about reading this book was; once again reminded me that happiness is a choice. Whether you apply everything in the book or not, you have to find your own happiness and keep it - not for 100 days but for years.
