I loved every second of it! I couldn’t put it down! I didn’t understand the concept of a “book boyfriend” until Liam. This is by far the best series I’ve read in a longtime! I can’t wait for the next book to come out!
Nick’s betrayal of Evangeline has caused her to lose nearly everything, including the only family she’s ever known. When Nick agreed to hand over Liam in return for a way to undo his curse as the Liberator, he sets in motion events that sever any gentle feelings Evangeline ever had for him.
With Nick on the run along with his coconspirator Roz, war has come to the shifter world, with the Sovereign on one side and royals on the others. Evangeline has lost her adopted family for good, but is learning to embrace her new one, including her mother and Liam. And with the possibility of bringing her six brothers back, Evangeline knows nothing can stand in her way, not even an ancient prophecy.
As the Sovereign’s rage draws near, however, no one is safe at the center, so all young shifters are sent home in an attempt to restore some normalcy. But home doesn’t equal safety as a showdown between the Sovereign and rightful Queen Evangeline draws near.
This book was so good! But I am just furious with Evangeline! No matter what type of book I read, it seems that the female main character always has a stubborn streak in her that turns everything between her brains into unflavored porridge, and Evie is no exception.
Without getting into spoils, Evie, with a huge amount of hubris, makes a move so stupid as to risk everyone she loves. I can’t say anything else other than the fact I am so tired of her insistence on doing things herself. Ugh! This was really good, though I am heartbroken at this moment in time. Hopefully, the last two books can change that.
My God I just love this book this book was so intense it definitely keeps you on your toes you never know what to expect it was so heartbreaking at a couple points in the story t can't wait for the next book Definitely recommend this book you don't want to miss out on this fabulous series Bravo you did it again Miss Jones
"I received an ARC copy of this book." Wow just wow... So that ended left me in shock!! This book had so many twists. Poor Liam and Evie never catch a break! Still in shock. So yea cannot wait to read the next book. So glad Evie and Nick aren't at odds anymore.
I highly anticipated this book. I had read the first two in the series before realizing that this book was not yet released. Before reading this book, I re-read the first two again to get back into it and my anticipation and excitement for this one did not whither....
With that said, I am left a little disappointed. Let me explain....
I think this series is fantastic. I applaud the author’s creativity and imagination. I love this brand of supernatural and these characters. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the court of thorns and roses series by a different author and think that with some major editing, this series could potentially rival ACOTR.
What I mean by editing and my disappointment ties into this common trend author’s seem to have to milk their success by creating cliffhangers and writing more books into their series.
The way the second book in this series ended - spoiler alert - with Elise saying it’s time to awaken her sons, I expected this book to tackle that. However, it seems like a few chapters in, the agenda changed and instead of the storyline progressing, it pivoted, stalled and repeated.
When the point of view changes from character to character, it was not always seamless. Oftentimes, things were just explained again from a different perspective... and this was most frustrating because it happened at fast-paced, important scenes. This was actually distracting and impeded the momentum of the story. There were a few grammatical errors here and there - nothing to criticize on its own but enough to note in conjunction with my momentum/repeating criticism.... it tells me that more editing was needed.
With that said, I don’t know what’s in store for book four and now I see a book five is forthcoming!!!!! But I predict that this book could have been combined with book four. The setup from book two for this one should have been carried through. I feel very much like how the students must have felt when they were told Damascus was being shut down before it’s whole mission was completed. This book should have focused on reviving Evie’s brothers.
I know I am being highly critical. More than I usually am on goodreads, I think. But it’s just that there is so much potential with this series.... and it really is enjoyable. I randomly stumbled upon this series. I did not hear about it from others. I know of no buzz about it... and that’s a shame because I think people would like it a lot. With more popularity, maybe the author could do some touch ups?
I don’t know. Maybe I sound like I’m contradicting myself in this review.... I do want to be clear that I enjoy this series. And this book ended on a VERY interesting cliffhanger. (Again) I’m hoping that the next book addresses BOTH! And I’m hoping more people would read this series so that there’s more discussion on everything that’s going on.

YOWZA this series just gets better and better and better. If you think Evie has had a rough go of it before, then hold on tight.... Everything leading up to this book was cake compared to what happens. Evil incarnate in form of Sovereign makes an appearance and crushes her soul... The bigger shocker is just how and why the creep came to be in town. In typical fashion we are in store for some jaw dropping moments. In my mind REDEMPTION is the key to this chapter of the series. My fingers are crossed that due to actions of the young in this particular book, that some of the so called adults take a page. I was shocked and disheartened by actions of some here. Evie rises to her mantle as Queen... More and more we see why her father Noah decreed she would take over if he passed away. Friendships strengthen, family reveals who they are, bonds are formed and alliances made. Buckle up for this is one rip roaring ride. If you haven't read the first two books in this BRILLIANT series yet, run... Don't walk to read them first. This is most definitely NOT a stand alone book, and one needs the back story to understand everything. I'm guessing all the pieces in this huge chess game have yet to be played. I for one am hoping Evie finds a way to bring her brothers back to cement her family. For she will need everyone she can to help her through what happens. Thankfully Evie has a gift if seeing a persons true heart and soul, and is wise beyond her perceived years. I long to ser the monarch she is quickly becoming.
I just cannot get enough. I want to just keep on going. There is so much more development in this novel. I love the build up of relationships and the challenges each character faces. The fight scenes are getting even better, the writing is even getting better. The result of this awesomeness is a major book slump. But luckily, the next one is already out. Can't recommend this book enough.
I don't even know where to start. For one, I am upset that the book ended where it did. This author has managed to keep the flow going with the third novel leaving you in grave suspense. The book will test your patience, and you will get angry at the actions of some characters in this novel.
Relationships formed a deeper bond and finally, it looked like Evie might be getting somewhere until that twist I didn't see coming had me standing up in my seat wanting to throw my kindle. She's had it rough and now that she's finally accepting who she is, and what she's supposed to do, her life takes a turn none of us expected.
Rachel Jonas, I am excitedly awaiting the next installment.
***I received this ARC from the author for an honest review***
Well this is disappointing. After loving the first two books I had high hopes for book 3. However, Heart of The Dragon did not live up to my expectations.
For one, NOTHING happens. We don’t get any action until the last 10% of the book and even that was a huge let down. Not that the rest of the story was bad per say, because it wasn’t; I actually enjoyed it even though not a lot happens to further the plot.
BUT I needed some action or hot romance or some shocking twists and turns to add to it. I just kept waiting and waiting for something good to happen. Waiting for Evie to do SOMETHING. I thought the scene when the Sovereign showed up in the woods Evie would do something to stick up for herself, to show she deserves the title of Queen. But NOPE she cowered like a baby while she ALLOWED LIAM to sacrifice himself for her. WHERE WAS THE BADASS QUEEN FROM BOOK TWO WHO FOUGHT FOR HER MAN?!
( She does eventually rescue him but it was very lackluster and she gets her ass kicked. Her and Nick barely made it out alive with a half dead Liam in tow. )
Which leads me to reason two I was disappointed. Evie was weak. Elise was so freaking weak. Literally these are supposed to be the queens of the powerful Bahir Dar royal family and they are two of the weakest characters in this entire book. Did I expect Evie to kill the Sovereign and take out an army on her own? No. But did I expect to get a hint of the strong powerful Evie we got at the end of book two? Yup. And Elise, she makes no sense. She is the Original Dragon Queen, thousands of years old, has ruled and fought in wars and yet she is about as powerful as Evies human parents and is about as useless as a glass hammer.
And another thing that bothered me was that we never got anything about book two’s cliffhanger except for a few study sessions with Hilda on magic. When I ended book two I was sooo freaking excited to see Evies brothers rise again in book 3. To see how they would react to a different Evie and today’s world. To see the true power of the Bahir Dar dynasty rise again. But like the rest of the plot we didn’t get any progress there either. I at least wanted to see some progress on Evies magical abilities but we got none of that either.
Also, I was so disappointed we didn’t get any sexy time. I know this was a YA to NA romance but damn a few chaste kisses just aren’t doing it for me at this point in the series. Evie and Liam are by far one of my favorite couples ever and I really wanted progress physically in their relationship, it’s the next step naturally. Like give me some intensity, some passion, some hot shifter sex. The love they share is magical, I can only imagine how that translates physically.
And lastly, there’s a cliffhanger ending AGAIN. At the end when Hilda breaks the “Liam is human” news I was kinda waiting for the bad part of it, like Annnndd???? Like what’s the big deal, at least he is alive! I mean, it could’ve been worse, he could’ve been dead and no soul stone to bring him back. So the cliffhanger was pretty lackluster for me. Though I will admit I’m curious to see how him being human now affects him and Evie.
Overall even though I had some issues with this book I still enjoyed it and will no doubt be jumping into book three. The characters and their journey is so addicting, I just hope we get more progress in the next installment. I feel like Rachel Jonas was full steam ahead in book one and two but with this installment I’m afraid she slowed down a bit. So I’m hoping she picks up more steam and blows book four out of the water.

3-1/2 stars - A star was knocked off for the ending.
First, the cover design is by the author and looks amazing!
This book starts up where the second one ended. Nick’s traitorous butt is on the run with his girlfriend. Nick is responsible for The Damascus Facility having to shut down. Everyone there has to go back to their homes and basically they will not be ready when the war comes. Nick goes back to town after being tricked by the town witches and faces his consequences. Evie is far more forgiving than I would have been. I sided with Liam on the whole Nick situation.
Evie is slightly stronger in this book than the previous ones but I wouldn’t say she stands on her own quite yet. I hope to see that in a future book soon. Evie and Liam grow together as their bond becomes stronger.
Some of the decisions made by the adults were quite frankly childish. They weren’t getting their way so they threw a tantrum and put people in harms way by calling the Sovereign to town.
This book was a solid 4-1/2 stars until the ending that tore my heart out of my chest and stomped on it! I am not a fan of books ending like this one did. If I had not been reading on my ipad and was reading a real book, I would have thrown the book across the room and then would have given it a side eye every time I passed by it and may have even stomped on it a few times. I’m knocking off a star because of the ending.
Because of Nick’s escape from the compound, everyone is being sent back to their homes for security reasons. Nick and Roz are on the run and struggling to survive with little access to funds. Evie, Nick, Elise, Hilda, and Dallas are all living in a secluded home together while training Evie to cast the spell to bring her brothers back and preparing her to become queen. When the Sovereign shows up for nefarious reasons, he makes a move that could bring Evie to her knees and she’ll do anything to prevent her worst fears from coming true. This is definitely the best book in the series thus far and although it’s a young adult title, it can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The characters are well developed and engaging. The storyline is well done, compelling, and fast paced with vivid action scenes and suspense that will leave you sitting on the edge of you seat. Jonas writes with such heart that the emotional impact will leave you breathless by the stunning conclusion. This book is definitely best read after the first two books to avoid missing any of the storyline and back story. Heart of the Dragon is an emotional, must read page turner that will leave you begging for more Evie and Liam. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.
Heart of a Dragon picks up right where the last one ends. To be honest, I felt that this one could of been added to last book. In that one one we really got to know the characters and adding the ending of this one to that... it would of been a solid book. Here it felt more like a filler book than anything. Either way, I still fairly enjoyed it. We got a little bit more of Evie and Liam, but was still hoping for something extra. Since, it is the 3rd book and all. I'm just saying. You best believe I would have tapped that already. Toss the rule book out the window and get your man girl! Liam. Liam, I want more. I really enjoy his character and wish for more chapters on his POV. Something about him makes my heart flutter - thanks for giving me that feeling btw. Evie still continues to growinto her own and it was refreshing to read. This also applies to Nick, as well. He has come to terms with what he is, but still has determination to overcome. I will not lie and say that I wasn't starting to get choked up there at the end. I will be anxiously the next installment.
Pages: 351 My rating (stars): 3.5 Read other books from this author in the future: yes
In Heart of a Dragon everyone is home again. The Shifters continue their training secretly. Evangeline, who can't go back to her parents, now lives with Liam, Elise, Hilda and Dallas. And Nick is on the run with Roz. Nick's mother wants to know what Evie has to do with Nick's disappearance. She blames her for everything and betrays everyone to the sovereign. This has pretty bad consequences. The books 3-5 are shorter than the first two. But that makes the story faster, which I like very much.
Deutsche Rezension: In Heart of a Dragon sind alle wieder zu Hause.

My ratings for these books are going down with each installment. The relationships are the main reason. I have no interest in Nick and Roz. Liam and Evie are becoming more and more boring with each book. This book basically starts out with a disclaimer to that effect, where Evie says that they don't have to rush anything because they have forever together. Umm...hello? You guys are constantly worried for your lives! The last thing you should do is bank on forever and take the relationship you have for granted! They have chaste kisses and jokes about their past sex life, nothing else.
This book started out having skipped some time from where the last book ended, which was odd considering the author needed a bunch of exposition to cover everything that had happened in the meantime.
One thing I will say I am impressed with in this book is that the characters are more complex than usual. Most of them make big mistakes, but there's always an understandable reason why they made that choice. There's still a few flat characters that seem to be evil just for evil's sake, but so far the drama has been largely caused by the good guys trying to do the right thing and failing.
I honestly don't know if I should praise the author or slap her will, but since slapping is frowned upon, I'll go with praise.
The suspense and the unknown in this book is ridiculously good. The growth amongst the characters and the depth of their emotions were amazing. I even felt like I could possibly like Nick again. My heart still hurts for Evie and that ending...Oh sweet baby Jesus, that ending! Heartstrings and emotions completely annihilated. And I'm supposed to be ok with waiting until May?!?!? You evil, vile, awesome author.
If I had one complaint, it would be the time jumps, but even those aren't too bad. This book picks up about a month or so after the last so it was like playing a bit if catch up. I also didn't like that the killing rage Evie went into to save Liam from the witches didn't seem present when needed in this book, almost like she had it, but didn't use it. I don't know, it was weird.
A love story full of tragedy, heart break, a deep, feel-it-in-your-bones, lasts through the ages, die for you kind of love. The kind that you can only dream about. Evie has fallen head over heels for Liam. She has made her choice. And it's not just because she knows deep in her soul that they've had lifetimes of memories, or that they are destined, or that they're tethered. She's chosen him again, and she'd continue to do so. Nick can't control the darkness taking over him, and with his only ally left, he leaves the compound. Liam is determined to do what it takes to protect her, even if it costs him his life. And Evie has discovered that there are allies in place she didn't know about, as well as enemies she was unaware of. A whole world she has been a part of since the dawn of time, and just can't remember. I'm not going to say too much, because I don't want to give spoilers. You won't be disappointed by this book.
Another great read from Rachel Jonas, this series just gets better as each new book is released! Evie grows stronger each book and not just physically. She is more vulnerable than ever this time round and she needs to draw on that inner strength to get through some really tough situations. Also, to see Evie let Liam in more as their relationship blooms. Nick landed himself in some really hot water last book that’s put him and Roz between a rock and a hard place but it’s good to finally see him come to terms and mature a bit. There is so much going on in this world and we knew it was only a matter of time before Sebastian caught on to the revolution going on under his nose the question is who is the traitor and what will become of our fav characters when he gets wind of them?!
I will say that one of the negatives of this book was Nicks point of view. I have to say I found that so annoying as I didn’t consider him that relevant to the story that he needed his own pint of view. It should have stayed as Evie and Liam that’s it. The book was slow going but I enjoyed seeing them blossom as a couple and Evie getting close to her mother. However it was very annoying that Evie is always wanting to save nick especially after what he did to Liam in the last book. And nicks mom I wouldn’t have helped her either. This book introduces the sovereign and his son and leaves you hanging for the next book. I was very upset about Liam and hope the next book doesn’t disappoint for the real war that’s coming between Evie and Sebastian can’t wait to check it out

Ok this book wasn’t my favorite. After the cliff hanger in the last one, I felt like this one didn’t progress how I thought. Which is fine, but I felt like it didn’t progress at all. It felt like a filler middle book.
Relationships were deepened and developed somewhat more, but for the most part I felt like not a lot happened until another frustrating cliff hanger. Evie kicked butt on the witches in the last book but didn’t show that in this one. She’s growing but still not getting anywhere. I hope the next one makes me want to jump back in.
I don't know if I can express how I feel right now. All of the emotions and adrenaline are still coursing though me and I need the next book right now! Rachel does such a fantastic job with these characters and their struggles with themselves and their emotions. They are raw and flawed and have to struggle to find the strength in themselves and it just so great to read. Nick is even making a comeback from my most disliked character. I can't wait until May for the next one I need to know what happens right now.
Rachel Jonas has created an amazing fantasy novel!
This third book of the saga, as with all the others ,pulls you in straight away! This book made me feel hope, longing and an unbearable sadness. I confess to Liam being my ‘book boyfriend’ :) I love how the story is really starting to piece together. Looking forward to book four.
I have read this book as an ARC and am providing an honest review.
I received a free ebook version of this book in exchange for an honest review.
WOW! Jonas does not disappoint in part 3 of the Lost Royals Saga. Evie continues to come to terms with finding her mother, her relationship with Liam continues to grow and her heart still breaks over what Nick's future may hold in regards to her own fate. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I NEVER saw the ending coming. Can not wait for book 4!
Threefold will suck you in. The writing is fantastic and Vietnamese feel what each character feels. I had to wait a day to write my review. I was devastated by the ending and will be immediately going into book 4. Evil comes into her own, as does a few other characters. She has a strength of person that shines through. She is a great lead, with real concerns and a real love for Liam. So many feels in this book. Up and downs and I'm along for the ride.
I’m a little confused. It seemed like in the first book, wolves were unaware and out of control in the wolf form but during her first shift, she’s totally fine and coherent? Maybe that’s just the liberator who experiences that? Something doesn’t add up. I’ve been struggling with a few inconsistencies like this throughout the series thus far even though I really want to like it all more. There’s just something that’s holding me back from really getting wrapped up and I’m mostly still just reading so that I can get closure on the entire series.

This book was just as well written as the ones before it in the series. It, too, pulls you into the story and makes you not want to put it down until you have finished it. Evie and Liam face even more challenges in this chapter of their story. But they never give up, no matter what the odds. I received an arc and am voluntarily reviewing it.
Ah this was so worth the wait! I am already excited and patiently waiting for the next one. I have to say I love how these books end, they give you something to look forward to but not a huge cliffhanger that leaves you miserable with not knowing what happens. There were many surprises in this book and I liked every one of them!
This book is kinda heart wrinching. I don't want to give alot away but Nick is redeemed in this book and has a new love interest, Evie is heart broken in the end, Sebastian is a monster, and Liam is ... Different (no spoilers). I need the next book the Cliffhanger is killing me.
I can't wait until May for part 4 man!! Lol but part 3 was amazing. I always have this problem of finding it harder to stay interested in the books in a series after part one or 2 but every book I read makes it more intense and captivating than the last. I will read much more from this author!
Third book and OMGee this series just get better! Its really hard to decide which character is my favorite because I just love them all. The story dives into a deeper plot and we get to see more of Evie’s memories surfacing, again not sure how Rachel Jonas has done it but she has managed to write a book that is even better then the first two.
