Book review

James Cleveland Owens grew up in Cleveland Ohio with his 9 siblings. He became a track star at Fairmount under coach Charles Riley. Jesse went from Cleveland to Columbus where he attended Ohio State University and continued his track framer breaking many world records. His college coach Larry Snyder brought him to the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. Can Jesse Owens win Olympic gold under Adolf Hitler's watch?
The book “Jesse Owens” is slow at many points. The book does not include many powerful words or fast tempoed sequences of words that make you want to keep reading. You could expect this from a nonfiction book but there are still many nonfiction books that are written like a fiction book. “Jesse Owens” lacks the ability to inform you and make you keep reading making it a slow book.
The writing of “Jesse Owens” was difficult because it was slow. Even though the writing was slow the story of Jesse Owens the Olympic sprinter was very powerful and motivating. I would recommend this book to anyone so they can learn about how Jesse Owens overcame hurdles in life such as discrimination to reach his dream of winning a gold medal at the Olympics.
