Mothman Dynasty: Chicago's Winged Humanoids

Rate this book
The presence of strange winged beings is probably as old as the human imagination. In the late Summer of 2011, reports of Mothman-like flying humanoids began to surface in the city of Chicago. After three brief sightings, there were no further accounts. Then unexpectedly in early 2017, a smattering of encounters emerged from different locations throughout the Chicago metro area; until the number reached near fifty sightings before the end of the Summer. Why Chicago? Why now? This book will examine the witness accounts and the investigators thought processes, as these incidents were brought to our attention. The sightings continue… but we are determined to find the truth.

Lon Strickler is a fortean researcher, author and intuitive who writes and mentors on a variety of subjects.

Lon is a resident of Hanover, Pennsylvania. At an early age, Lon realized that he had the ability to sense spiritual energy and found this useful in the field when conducting investigations. Most of his early field work concentrated on spiritual activity at historical locations, in particular the Gettysburg & Antietam battlefields.

In 1981, Lon experienced a "Bigfoot" encounter near Sykesville, MD while fishing on the south branch of the Patapsco River. As a result of the incident, he included cryptids as an important part of his research.

Lon started the 'Phantoms and Monsters' blog in 2005, which has steadily grown in popularity and read daily by thousands of paranormal enthusiasts, investigators and those seeking the truth.

Lon's research has been featured on hundreds of online media sources. Several of these published reports have been presented on various television segments, including The History Channel's 'Ancient Aliens',' Syfy's 'Paranormal Witness', 'Faked or Faked: Paranormal Files,' & Destination America's 'Monsters and Mysteries in America.' As well, he has been interviewed on several radio broadcasts, including multiple guest appearances on 'Coast to Coast AM.' He was also featured on Destination America's 'Monsters and Mysteries in America' television show for 'The Sykesville Monster' episode.

In 2014 Lon and Sean Forker founded 'Arcane Radio' in which they both host with Butch Witkowski.

Stared off interesting enough, but the reports of sightings just all sound the same after a while, and the book really lost me every time it spouted bullshit about parallel dimensions and wormholes and all that other paranoia garbage.

Chicago Winged Humanoid Sightings from 2017!

Author Lon Strickler is a noted researcher for paranormal and cryptid encounters. This book is his well researched account of the sightings of the cryptid dubbed the Chicago Mothman. What is particularly interesting is the fact that this outbreak of sightings occurred last year in 2017! While the Point Pleasant Mothman encounters happened in West Virginia in the sixties, these numerous encounters are very recent and seen by a large number of people. Filled with accounts, some chilling, this is a fascinating read for cryptid lovers. Similar accounts of sightings around the world and comments from other members of the research team give background information on this phenomenon that is actually much older than many realize. A fascinating read.

This was a seemingly fairly thorough collection of reports regarding the 'Chicago Mothman' or 'Chicago Phantom.' Reports were roughly chronological, though there were some outliers and some digressions from the main point (like sightings in distant states and other times, including the original Mothman).

There is some "analysis" of individual reports, like where investigators tried to judge honesty and such, and there are some theories mentioned about what the sightings actually we're, but this is overall more descriptive. The reports are collected, but Strickler is clear that there isn't really any proof of what is happening (or why, or how, etc.). It is a great collection of reports though, neatly presented.

Lon is my mentor and the greatest researcher I know. I have been following Lon since before the year 2000, and he has taught me more in eighteen years, than I have ever learned in my first forty years of my life.
I love his writing, because reading the truth, no matter how strange, and frightening, is how life really is in the real world.

A good collection of sighting reports. While it doesn't provide any conclusive evidence of why the sightings happened or what was behind it, it does gather the accounts together for you to speculate on yourself and asks some pretty thought provoking questions about it all. I really enjoyed this book overall. The reason I left a star off is because I think it deserved a better editing process. While they weren't egregious, I did come across more spelling and grammar errors than a book released for publishing should have. I can understand one or two that's accidentally overlooked, but this was more than that. If it had undergone a more thorough editing process for errors I would have given this book 5 stars.
