Although one could dismiss the book as just a collection of clichéd truisms and chicken-soup articles, the author does a great job of grounding abstract life wisdom in the everyday challenges, setbacks, frustrations, and self-doubt we grapple with.
If nothing else, reading the book is a heart-warming reminder that no matter our ages, backgrounds, or social statuses, we're all mere mortals constantly struggling to find meaning, joy, and peace in this complicated and sometimes overwhelming world. Deep down, we're all restless souls seeking some solace, however temporary it may be.
Just as the author said, a large part of our success (however one might define it) starts with figuring out the kind of person we truly want to become, not what social norms, peers, media, or advertisers bombard us with. The struggle and failures are all real, but also part of the journey we should accept and savor. Even though nothing is ever guaranteed, that doesn't mean we shouldn't keep trying, because we believe it's worth it. No matter the results, we should be proud of ourselves as long as we've given our all and lived with no regrets.
