A novel about adventure and what grows from it. Little inspires the heart the same as a story. As a writer, or as a reader, we all long to walk along side those we cherish, then face that which seems so unsurpassable, then triumph. Rise follows the tale of a young man named Kyita Day as he is set amidst a war that is built upon a system he is foreign to. Born to wealth, the world of normal men was never his to know, until he decided to join it. He finds cruelty and he finds grace. In battle he finds courage, but does what he wishes he never had to. Rise challenges the reader to think about life in an earnest way as Kyita tries to reason out that very world himself. Along the way there are jokes and laughter, pain and heartache, and tests of will where what was promised didn't in its end feel right.
As the writer of this series I wanted to do one thing more than any other, share a real story. Too many times we see tales of superheros that are too perfect to be human. Kyita has a good heart, but many failings with it. His companions are the same as they carry their own skills, but are far from perfect.
Life is many things, good and bad. We cant have one without the other, so Rise was written to show both sides of the coin, in hopes that the light would in the end of the darkness, burn brighter.
