The times are hard in 1300s Dublin, Rose is a 12 year old girl who has to marry. Tobias is 13 and he works on the walls, keeping Dublin safe from attack. Life is lived in constant fear of death but family and friends keep Tobias and Rose happy.Rats are breeding like rabbits and are all over the city, they make Rose shudder when they are in the wells, playing on the streets and clambering all over the food. Although this story is set in Medieval Times there is a strong parallel to today, we have Covid 19 they had bubonic Plague. We wear masks they locked people into their homes.
