Escape the Sea

Rate this book
Seven towns. Seven seas. The seven council. The seven words every person lives by.

The sea is lost, pirates are death.

Cassandra should have been killed at birth, like all the other children who have powers like her.

The changed ones.

The ones who started the war, lost the seas and killed millions with their gifts.

Lucky for Cassandra, her father is on the council. One of the seven rulers of her large town and has kept her hidden her entire life.

When she is seen for the first time, she has no choice but to run and the only place she can go is to the sea.

To the pirates and a certain death.

At least that is what she thinks. When she meets six handsome pirates and they take her on board their ship, she learns about a whole new world.

If only she can protect her heart when they all desire to own it.

This is a reverse harem trilogy.

The premise for this book was so interesting and it had so much potential, but I just didn't end up liking it.

I've been into reverse-harem stories lately, so obviously this caught my attention, it sounded really good! The problem I had is that even though the world was really fascinating - I really enjoyed the seven islands and chosen ones aspect - I think it really missed the mark on character development.

No only I found Cassandra kind of boring and with no personality whatsoever, but I also had a hard time distinguishing one pirate from the other. Their personalities were too similar - Hunter being the only exception. Also, I felt like they all started loving Cassandra way to easily. Yes, I know this is a reverse-harem story, but I wish there had been some tension, and not just 'oh wow she is beautiful now all of us love her' along with some cheesy lines.

Great premise, interesting idea, but bad execution. I'm still debating if I'll pick up the next book.

This is a Reverse Harem book about pirates, so already, expectations have been formed going in. The main character turns 18 during the book, and this definitely reads more like a Young Adult than a RH.

Not that sex defines RH, but just as an FYI - there is none, but there's a lot of being "drawn to" every pirate in Cassandra's vicinity. ::insert eye roll here:: To me, being "drawn to" is the writing equivalent of having "curves in all the right places."

The overarching world is interesting, and I think the story had potential, but there are some major issues.

Plot holes.
1.The lack of unrest makes no sense. At one point during the world-building, we learn that the people adore the council members, because they control the food supply. Now, if I was starving, and I watched my leaders growing fat from their consumption, love would not be the emotion I was feeling. ALSO, Cassandra's dad kills anyone who happens upon her. Again, if people keep disappearing and dying without a word, why all the love for the people in charge?

2. Cassandra's reactions are not believable. Cassandra has never seen a male (outside of her father) before. Instead of being nervous, or watchful, or even entranced, she's comfortable and flirty at the party. Instead of any panic, or wariness at being out at sea with a bunch of strangers, she settles in.

3. The world is dying, and the nation of seven islands is starving because of lack of rain and food. Somehow, Cassandra's father, and her friend both have horses. If there's no rain, and no grass, and people are starving every day...and you live on a small ISLAND...wouldn't horses be a useless commodity? Maybe I'm heartless, but I feel like the horses would've been consumed. Parties? When everyone is starving? Leisurely reading, and romance books while the world is dying? Really?!

4. Unrealistic circumstances. On an island nation where every "changed" person is killed, or handed over to the royal guard by royal decree, but when Cassandra is paraded before an entire mob of people at a slave auction, kills an auctioneer in front of a crowd, and then is paid for with a bag of gold...they just walk away.

Consistency.
I think maybe the author wrote in too many love interests, and could keep them straight. In a single chapter, Chaz is described as having "bright green", then "deep brown", then "deep green" and finally "light brown" eyes. Poor Chaz, by the end of the book, I had no idea what this character looked like.

I think the twin's royal family is the most interesting plot line, but I won't be reading further to investigate. The reader can tell where this train is going, and it has potential to be interesting, but I'm not staying on this ride to see it through.

The book ends on a cliffhanger, which was the final nail in the coffin for me.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

What a great book.

Sheltered from the world but still a strong h. G. Bailey did a great job writing Cassandra. Even though she was sheltered, she wasn't stupidly naive.

The guys were awesome. They weren't overly obsessed with the h, they were just adorable..

I am looking forward to finding out about the changed ones, enough to continue the series.

Real rating: 3.5 star

Escape the Sea was interesting to a point.. but kind of ended on a "meh" rating. It was a roller coaster to go through though, because it started off slow... then picked up.. then just kind of fell flat. I totally get that it's the first book, and I'm probably going to dive into the other two just to see how it's going to end.

In this book, you will meet Cassandra. She makes a ton of horrible decisions, but then again.. most female MC's tend to do that. Repeatedly. This is also a reverse harem kind of book.. and I do love those kind of books. Out of all the guys, Hunter was probably my favorite. I have no idea what it is.. but the douchiest guy is always my favorite. There's something mysterious about him. Whether he's a bad boy.. or just a regular ole douche bag.

Either way, I love them and Hunter definitely has my heart right now. He wants you to think he gives zero fucks about you but he actually cares the most. Plus the smut is probably the hottest with him. Trust me, it happens alllll the time!!

Oh, did I mention that all these guys are pirates? NO?? Oops. Well, they are and, again, I loved it! I feel like I don't get enough pirate books and that's probably why I was so freaking excited to dive into this. Most reverse harem books have a supernatural feel to them (ex: vampire, ghost, etc.). This book also reminded me of another reverse harem book that I recently read, Power of Five by Alex Lidell. If you've read that book, you'd understand why I said that.

Overall, it had pretty good potential to wow me which is why I'm going to continue on to see if it does.

Cassandra had been hidden her whole life, just for the mark she bears on her forehead. She is one of the changed ones, someone who is thought to be the cause of their land's misfortune and holds great power. It's also a death sentence for a changed one in the world she lives in. Especially a feamale changed one, which is unheard of. So when she is discovered she does the only thing she can do, run (more like sail, but whatever) What she doesn't expect is to crash into a ship and meet 6 sexy pirates who definitely did not look like what the stories said. Now living on their ship, she can't stop her feeling towards all of them. But does she even want to? And do they guys want her to?

Like always, G. Bailey wrote another amazing story. And like always she leaves us on a cliffhanger! Seriously, why?? Why must she do this to me? I loved all of the guys and Cassandra. Bailey always manages to make her characters have distinct personalities. Don't know how she does it with 6 guys! Hunter is the iconic moody and jerk, but deep down is a softy. Chaz is the caring one. Zack is the tortured soul. Ryland appears to be kind of stand offish at first, but then you warm up to him. Jacob is the boy next door. Dante is sweet and caring. Basically, they are all perfect!

The only thing that bothered me was that during the first half of this book, there was not romance at all. Maybe some looks, but no romance. Then all of a sudden BOOM, BOOM, BOOM romance is everywhere and she is kissing all of the guys (which I have no problem with). It just seems kind of rushed. Can't wait to find out what Cassandra's power exactly is. And what being her chosen means! Need to read book 2 now!!

(Sorry if this review is all over the place, I am currently fangirling :)

This book starts a little slow, mostly because it takes Cass a while to warm up to the pirates, but once she realizes they are helping her and starts actually getting to know them, it really picks up! This is a good slow burn RH.

Who doesn't like pirates?! These pirates are awesome. I think Chaz is my favorite. Or Jacob. Maybe Hunter. Honestly, I like them all. They are all perfect. Also, mermaids and dragons and who knows what else will pop up in this series. This first book had everything I loved.

Paranormal pirate fantasy!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😚☹️🥹😉
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Cassandra - she is a changed one, the only female changed one born in a very long time. She was born with a mark on her forehead which designates her as a changed one. In the past, the changed ones had powers and were celebrated until one of them was said to have destroyed the world. Since then, all changed ones born on the seven islands have been put to death by order of the king. Cassandra’s father is on the council and is the richest man on their island, where most of the population goes hungry. He has hidden her away her entire life.

The Heroes: Hunter, Jacob, Chaz, Ryland, Dante, Zach - They are pirates that roam the seas. Some of them came from the castle of the King, different things drove them to be pirates, though they also have passengers on their ship. All of them are very handsome, Ryland is the captain, Hunter is his twin and is the quintessential grumpy pirate, Chaz is the caring doctor, Jacob is nice and sweet, Dante is a charmer and Zach is the cook with a troubled past.

The Story: when Cassandra leaves her father’s house one night, she is spotted by the villagers and needs to escape the island, or she might be killed for being a changed one, which would also get her father in trouble for hiding her all her life. The only avenue of escape is taking a boat out into the ocean even though it is well known there are ruthless pirates out there and her chances of making it somewhere safe are very slim. Even the starving residents of the islands rarely leave, due to the threat posed by pirates.

However, when her boat crashes into the pirate ship, Cassandra learns that they aren’t what she expected, and they want to help and protect her. I liked the story, and I really liked the characters. I enjoyed how protective the guys were of Cassandra, and I liked the fact that despite there being six heroes there weren’t a bunch of steamy scenes. It was romance and story, but not smutty. I loved the paranormal aspects of the story and the dragon egg.

This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Tyler Ryan, Fleet Cooper, Patrick Garrett, Aaron Sin, Matthew Holland, and Morais Almeida. This book had all of those narrators, so it really should have been done in duet narration. Though I did like all their voices.

This audiobook said it was unabridged, though the Kindle version says it is 298 pages which usually equates to a 7 or more-hour audiobook and this one was just over 4 hours, so I am not sure what happened there. Either way, I did like the story and would continue to the next one if I didn’t have to buy it, but I don’t like to spend money on only 4-5 hours of audio.

Pirates! Enough said :)

Another great new series by G. Bailey! With a strong female MC and 6 sexy pirates you can't go wrong with this book.

Cassandra is a Changed One and in her world that is the equivalent of a death sentence. She has spent her first 18 years being hidden by her father when a sneaky night out leaves her mark exposed and she has to run to live. Her boat crashed into a pirate ship and they fish her out of the water offering her safe travel.

Ryland-the stern Captain, Hunter-think Jack Sparrow, Dante-dark and charismatic, Chaz-the doctor, Jacob-the philosopher and Zach- the damaged cook all bring out feelings that confuse Cassandra being that she's only ever known 3 people in her life and the only male was her father.

This first part of her journey is an adventure. We learn more about some of the guys and begin seeing the individual relationships develop. And, as always with G. Bailey's books, she leaves you wanting more and salivating for the next book in the series!

Cassandra has been hidden away in her father's house for her entire life. She is a "chosen" and if she is discovered, the king will have her killed. Only 3 people know she exists - her father, her teacher and her teacher's daughter ie her best friend, Everly. Everly convinces her to sneak out to a party, where of course, she is discovered and must flee the island or be killed by rabid villagers. She escapes by boat, only to crash into a pirate ship. On board, she slowly starts to trust six gorgeous pirates and is strangely attracted to them all (gotta love reverse harem!).

Lots of world building in this first book in the series, and not a lot of romance - it's looking like a slow burn. The world building is a little confusing; "Chosen" ones are supposed to have powers that the Sea God has blessed them with, but Cassandra has none. Another mystery is that she seems to be the only female chosen one in a long time; we don't know yet why that is important, only that it makes her a target for everyone in the kingdom. And then there are some cryptic clues about the King and how he got to be in power. I'm sure all these things will be addressed in future books in the series.

As for the characters, Cassandra is a likable heroine. She's been pretty sheltered her whole life but has no trouble being sassy/sarcastic when in danger and fighting for her life or others. We are just getting to know her six pirates but I can see why she can't choose between them - neither can I. We've got Rhyland, the leader; Hunter, the dark, brooding, scary one; Chaz, the nerdy one; Jacob, the loyal guard; Dante, the seducer; and Zack, the sweet friend with a tortured past. I can't decide which one is my favorite yet.

What do you get when you add one girl who has been hidden away her entire life; who has only ever met three people, to a ship full of sexy pirates? You get one of the best new Reverse Harems I've ever read! Cassandra was born with the mark of a Changed One on her forehead. This mark is a death sentence, so her father has hidden her away for 18 years. One night while her father is away, Cassandra goes with her only friend to a party where her mark is discovered. She makes her escape only to wreck at sea. Luckily she is rescued and wakens to find herself on a pirate ship. Cassandra has been taught her entire life that pirates are dirty, dangerous, cruel men, but these pirates prove to be anything but. They make a deal with her to get her to an island where Changed Ones are safe. Along the journey they save her life and steal her heart (and mine).

This is a well-written, captivating story. The world building is excellent and I feel that we have only scratched the surface. There is so much depth to this world with it's islands, the seas, and their histories. From page one, you will find yourself immersed in the adventure.

Cassandra is a great lead female. She may not have any life experience, but she's fiesty and clever. She's eager to learn and experience everything. She's inherently kind and draws the pirates to her effortlessly. Her interactions from the first meeting are lively and it builds from there. It's not long before she has feelings for the pirates; some she understands, some that are confusing. And the six pirates...SWOONWORTHY! Ryland, the formidable Captain; his twin Hunter with his gruff exterior; Chaz, the ship's doctor, Dante, all charm; Jacob, the deep thinker; and Zach, the damaged cook. These men are all running from something, have come together as brothers to make the world better, and have now found their heart. They all seem to have unexpected depth and need healing of some sort. Cassandra is clearly needed.

This book is an amazing read; part adventure, part lore, part romance. The little surprises pulled off by the pirates just steal your heart. And of course, the ending leaves you wanting the next book immediately!

A really fun first book in a series that has tremendous potential to develop into a great series with the next book. There are a lot of awesome elements present such as

- hot AF pirates
(I really love all of them, so I can definitely see why Cassandra feels drawn to them all. I can't blame her, I really can't haha. I'm beginning to like this reverse harem trope a lot hehehe)
- a feisty heroine.
- a touch of magic simmering beneath the surface and ready to be more explored.
(I really love the concept of the magic even though a lot of it is still unknown after finishing book 1, so I can't wait to explore more about it in the next book. There's also talk of dragons and that makes me so excited as well!)
- a really intriguing story-line, leaving me craving more after finishing it.
- enthralling writing that ensured a fast-paced read from the beginning until the end.

Remarks;
- I really think this first book needed more pages, lol. And I'm not saying that only because of the fact that I liked the book, which I obviously did, but it was all really over too fast. I really think it would've been better if there had been more pages to it, but I understand the WHY as well as to the moment the author decided to end book 1. But still, it feels a bit like an unfinished first book despite the great story build-up, enough character development, and the great world-building.

- I would've liked it more though if the romance interests had been more developed, but since the book isn't that thick to begin with, it wouldn't have properly fit into the story as it now is though. And don't forget; there are six males present, so you actually can't expect things to go too fast if you expect depth. So all in all, I think it was okay to this particular book because of the number of pages and the way the story is built. But I really hope there's more romance developing in the next one!

Intriguing

What a great start to this series. We get a world of islands that are all under the control of a King. Some people are born with a mark that means they are a changed one. This puts their life in danger as they are all to be killed once found. Cass has been hidden her whole life to keep her safe but when she is discovered she has to flee all she knows. Enter the pirates that will change her life forever. Nice world building with some great characters. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

The first half was very slow and boring. But I stuck to it, esp when the heroine got a dragon egg bec I love dragons. After that, thankfully, the pace picked up and the story became more interesting.

I've already got book 2 so I'll continue on reading. I'm not sure I want to keep on reading but I want to know what happens to the dragon.

Adventurous

An introduction to their way of life. A girl that has been to sheltered fines a way to break out. I mean it wasn't ideal but it was such a great adventure. Then she runs into pirates and it just gets sexy from there. I never know how the story goes even though those men will be hers. It is just such a great story.

2.5 stars for an interesting premise
Reverse Harem and Pirates, whats not to like, what a promise! But what I got is a failed delivery and a broken promise. Its almost heart breaking when a good premise meets a meh delivery. I just, literally, finished this book now, which ended with a cliffhanger and I really don't care. Anyone who knows me or has come across my reviews knows I hate cliffhangers with a passion. There's Cassandra and her pirates, whom I couldn't tell apart. Whom I also don't know why they fell for her. They rescued her from drowning and immediately decided they can't live without her. It sounds like they each have interesting background stories but non were given, may be it would have made a difference, maybe its going to be told in the next installment, I don't know. But either way, it doesn't matter for me as I am not continuing the series.

A fast and light read full of sexy pirates. The perfect book to sandwich between heavier books or when you’re about to fall into a reading slump.

It was a bit too short for my liking, it suddenly ended when things were starting to progress (which by the way, there’s very little build-up for the romance, as it’s usually the case in these kind of books, the insta-love is over the roof always)

The lore is cool so far. It explains the whole “changed one and her chosen ones” so no complaints there.

I actually like this more than I thought I would!

The beginning was really slow for me, but I can understand that we needed the information the get along in the story. Towards the end, I feel like it picked up and by the end is when I had to know more. Thank goodness I don’t have to wait that long for the next part of this trilogy.

Our story starts with Cassandra. We find out that she is being hidden by her father and that she is a Chosen One. Chosen ones were thought to blessed by the sea and were once loved by everyone. Now they are despised, hunted and killed by order of the king. Her father is a member of the council. They make all the decisions on the island. From enforcing the laws, to how much food they think people get to eat. The people of the island do anything they ask because they give them food.

Since her father is well off, he’s hidden Cassandra from the outside world. Anybody who finds out about her pays for the consequences. Sadly Cassandra just feels lonely and trapped in her father’s house. The only people who know about her are her father, her teacher and her teacher’s daughter.

His only child and one he has to hide. I know that my father cares for me, but he doesn’t know what to do with me anymore.

We only get little snippets of backstory on the Chosen Ones. I’m hoping that we get more information in the second book.

Because the Sea God kisses his special children on the forehead. Leaving a mark. The Sea God chooses them and gives them untold power.

Now, these were not the kind of pirates that I was expecting. I mean that in a good way! Every single one of them were so sweet and always considerate of Cassandra. It was hard not to fall for them right along with Cassandra.

Cassandra belongs to us, and no one is taking her.

This ends on a cliffhanger and I really need to know how whats going to happen next. Overall, this book surprised me and I will definitely keep reading.

Reverse harem with pirates? Give it to me! <- That was my reaction when I first saw this book.

Unfortunately, I can't say that I loved this book even though it was entertaining and easy to read. We follow Cassandra, an eighteen year old girl who has been hidden her entire life in her father's house because of the mark on her forehead. People are terrified of the 'marked ones' and will try to catch/kill/sell them if they see one. The King is also on the hunt for them.

Cassandra doesn't believe she has any power and one day she is forced to run away. She ends up on a ship full of handsome pirates who wants her to be safe. Lucky, isn't she?

Anyway, this is the second book from this author I've read and even though her stories are quick reads and I easily get into them, I think the writing (at least in this book) could be better, I guess? I'm not sure how to explain it but there's room for amelioration. There are a few scenes that seemed off ( for example). We also get a couple of plot twists that were entirely predictable and unoriginal (I mean,I hope the author has something else in store for us because it's a bit repetitive...) Also, at one point I felt like Jacob was on the background compared to the others. I mean, if you're doing a reverse harem book, you'll have to develop all the characters and their relationships, not just introduce them and voilà.

However, I'm still curious to see how the plot is going to evolve in the next book so I might pick it up. We'll see! Edit: I won't be picking up the next book. If I want to read another RH book, I'll find another series.

I received a free advanced reader copy of this book and voluntarily decided to review it

A pirate reverse harem book and I am in heaven! Cassandra has been hidden away all her life watching the world go by to keep her safe

Cassy is a changed one, and that means a death sentence, he father who is on the council kept her hidden away for her safety. When she is spotted for the first time she has to escape and the only way is by boat. But she is picked up by pirates and everyone knows that they are dangerous and deadly.

This is very well written with an exciting plot line, Cassy may have been hidden away but she is strong and fiesty. She knows nothing of men or the world but she has a backbone and spunk. The pirates are all gorgeous and sexy, they all have different personalities and traits but work well together.

I really enjoyed the unusual storyline, the twists and turns, the excitement and drama. Cassy's interactions with pirates is brilliant from the outset and I think she is an awesome heroine

I did not want to put the book down and was sad when it ended as I did not want to stop reading. I highly recommend this book it's a fantastic read

😍 Yes! That was everything you'd want in a pirate story. I loved the world building in this book. There is a lot of mystery surrounding the changed ones and pirates both. I got sucked in from the very beginning and loved every second of Cassandra's journey. All of the pirates have a unique personality so none of them get jumbled together and I am having a terrible time picking my favorite. The book did end on a cliff hanger and left me dying for the next book!

A little slow at the start but it did pick up and keep my interest. It is pretty light and fluffy but hints it could turn into more action with a fierce heroine. Book two is only a week away so hopefully, the author can keep the momentum going.

First off, it's jealousy. Not jealously. No second L.

Anyways, I downloaded this book for free because I love pirates and wanted to read a good pirate story. And while this book kept me amused, it was not good.

The good part was that it had an interesting premise. While the history and backstory could use a little work, it was something that was just fine for the first book in a series and could definitely be something that could be built upon.

And, that was probably the only good part.

There's a few writing issues with this book. The most obvious one to me is the random commas. I don't know if there was some comma quota that needed to be met, but there's commas just chilling in the middle of sentences where they don't belong. And, they're everywhere. The other one that stood out to me, and kind of made me laugh, was there's one character who gets his name spelled two different ways.

The writing has no feeling in it, at least to me. It's emotionless. It's very get from Point A to Point B without much care. The dialogue is super inorganic. There's barely a piece in here that I could imagine a real person saying out loud. I'm also not here for the amount of times we need to describe everyone's clothes. We literally get a full record of every costume change, and it's kind of annoying as barely any of it is important. I also feel like there's some missed opportunities. There's a part where Cassandra needs to sneak home after being discovered and we could have had a really tense sequence, but it just skips to the next chapter where she's now home.

Cassandra isn't interesting as a protagonist. In fact, she's kind of an oxymoron. Cassandra was raised in a secluded area where she knew all of three people her entire life and was raised with the knowledge that if anyone finds out what she is, they would want her dead. And, yet when faced with pirates - the people she's told to fear most - she's some instant sass master. Like what? She displays practically no traits of someone who's fearful pretty much ever besides saying she's scared (and then whipping out witty comment after witty comment). And, don't get me started on how she's suddenly in love with like six dudes all at once after knowing them for like a day. She's got some pretty big concerns but most of them get pushed aside because she's having feelings over boys. She also expresses her love for each of them in her head the same way, and it's like girl, you ain't twelve. Use more words. Like all those ones you have when you're being unrealistically witty.

I'm not going to lie: I can barely tell the pirates apart. Chaz, Dante, Jacob, Ryland, Hunter and Zach/Zack (aforementioned character who's named spelled two ways) each seems to have one defining trait (the cook, the doctor, the cocky one, etc etc) and besides that they're pretty much the same person. All six of them are also victims of insta-love. I get there's some weird changed one pheromone that makes Cassandra attractive, but boy, does it simply sound like wish fulfillment to just read six hot guys repeatedly mention how they want her. I also wanted to say - maybe it's nitpicky - but I got a good laugh out of their names. They sound more like a frat house members who were born in 1999 than pirates.

They're also pretty much the worst pirates I've ever read about. If you want to see actual pirates, you're better off watching Muppet Treasure Island. That's something that bugged me: how un-pirate-like the pirates were. For gosh sakes, they had a fully functioning bathroom and no one seems to be dirty at any time (also pirates didn't typically have an actual doctor on board, so that's another thing that stood out). And, they're too busy ferrying people to safety from island to island. Why couldn't they be people smugglers or something, if they weren't going to be any proper pirate work?

Though admittedly, I found it hilarious when it was mentioned (I think; maybe I'm recalling incorrectly) that they're feared and stuff because they have the biggest ship besides the guard or whoever. Like it's a who's dick is bigger than who's contest. Speaking of dicks, I don't know why this book's 17+. Is it the "ooooh people might wanna breed Cassandra for more changed children" bit? Because that hardly seemed 17+, but maybe I just read too many inappropriate books as a pre-teen.

Overall, Escape the Sea has a very promising premise but it fails on all accounts to deliver.

I am so glad I read this because the guys in this book are 6 of my favorite. I loved everything about them. The fawning over Cassandra was a bit much but over all I would get excited when one entered a room. I went into this book expecting action and twists and turn, I got that and more. The over all story and the pace wasn't that bad and I really enjoyed this enough to read the next two as soon as I was finished with this one because of the ending of each book left me wanting to know what happened next.

Cassandra is likable but I wasn't totally loving her. She was somewhat spunky but also need more of a build. She kind of didn't seem against being with 6 guys and for someone that only knew their dad and two others that was a jump.
I LOVED her best friend Everly, she was super cute and think she will be awesome for the rest of the story. :) It was awesome that she didn't see anything wrong with Cassandra and they had a cute sister/protective bond.
Her father wasn't my favorite person, rather mean and kept her hidden but he was a council member and should have been better to her and protecting her.
The guys in the book are swoony. I wasn't a fan of the nicknames they gave her but overall, I was very happy when showed up. Dante, Jacob, Hunter, Ryland, Zack and Chaz..***SWOON***
The steamy scenes just sort of went by rather quickly. It didn't have the slow build of sex and I can't for the life of me remember if there was even a sex scene in this book or I am thinking of the next book, lol
The world is interesting, because the changed ones are being killed the world is dying. It's up to Cassandra and her handsome pirates to save the day.
I can't believe it ended like that!

Overall I really enjoyed the book. I thought the characters needed a little more build, especially Cassandra, she needed more personality. I enjoyed this enough to binge the next two so of course I HIGHLY recommend this book and the entire series! :)
