Plunged into the deep end at a leading film school, wannabe film director Allie Parker finds herself on a very steep learning curve in the world of ambitious film students and egotistical teachers.
Allie just wants to make movies. But that’s not so easy when distractions abound. Distractions like sexy set designer Ashley. Or for that matter, sensitive screenwriter Cameron.
In the high pressure atmosphere of a top film school, can Allie hang on to who she is? And with two different love paths in front of her, will she choose the right one? Or will she fuck everything up?
From the author of 'The Plus One' and 'Waiting for the Punchline', 'Close Ups and F**k Ups' is about risking everything for what (and who) you love.
all i want is a production designer girlfriend who takes me to her english regency room on set and we lay on the huge, four-poster bed while holding hands then eventually start kissing and get stuck in the pitch black after someone almost catches us and we have to get redressed with the light from our phones. that's all i want.
I loved this and I don't think I have read a bad West book. Once again we have a funny complex character that has an air of the underdog about her but we all know she is adorable and will be a perfect girlfriend. Here Allie has two women falling over themselves to be with her.
Allie is at film school and wanting to be a director and she is finding it is not going quite to plan. She has a year to sort herself out and she is already three weeks behind everyone else before she starts. This is another intriguing and well written story by Natasha West and if you have never read any of her books then you are missing out on some wonderful stories, very different from your run of the mill Lesfic. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ all the way.
This is a well written book about a young woman, Allie, gets accepted into the film making school of her dreams, where she meets two fellow female film students, Ashley, a set designer, and Cameron, a writer. Vowing to make school her top priority, she tries putting her love life on hold, but her attraction to both Ashley and Cameron is undeniable. Throw in the competition and pressure at school, and, over the course of her scholastic terms, somewhere along the lines, she lost herself. Or has she? Put this book on your must read list.
I really like this book. The storyline was unique and interesting but what made it so great were the characters. I loved Allie, the main character because she was so believable, hilarious, and self-aware. The relationships she had throughout the story were honest and real. I love pretty much everything I have read from this author and this book was no different. I think it is relatable and engaging and I would recommend it.
4 stars. Very unique and different. I thought the film making aspect was interesting, I liked the main character, Allie. She goes through some pretty good character development. She felt real. I also loved how messy the romance is in this and how it went in directions that I did not expect. There were some twists that were well done. Overall, this was a quick read and it was a whole lot of fun. I’m having a blast going through Natasha West’s books. They’re very fluffy and light.
Cleverly written. The writer takes you right into the main character Allie's head space so you're right there with her struggling to figure-out which of the two love interests she should be with. I spent the book going back and forth she should be with this one, no that one, it kept me interested until the end. Brilliant use of don't judge a person by their first appearance.
