Dead And Alive, Season One #3

Target Beta: Episode Three

Rate this book
Episode Three in Season One of Ileandra Young's mutli-season paranormal thriller 'Dead And Alive'

Kailah has never liked something about the smell. the lingering scent of death that permeates the very air. Doubly present to her vampire senses. As a child, human hospitals were houses of pain and suffering, today is no exception.

On the roof of the hospital waits a man bristling with military grade weaponry and several silver crucifixes. Though Kailah neutralises the threat with little trouble, to see an Assassin after so long sends chills through her body.

After barely escaping their clutches back in Glasgow, Kailah has learned to be cautious of the men and women trained to exterminate her kind with vicious efficiency. But how did they know she would be coming? And why are they here?

As Kailah enters the hospital, she is forced to admit that Diavian’s visit has stirred up more trouble than she first thought. That her life, and those of many others, has been irreparably changed.

And this is only the beginning.

Ileandra Young is one face of the Da Shared Brain who writes erotica and romance under a second pseudonym. Ileandra enjoys writing fantasy (both urban and traditional) and aspires one day to write a piece so long (and therefore thick) that the book would form a good self-defence weapon in the hands of a fan (even been hit by War and Peace? It hurts!).

Her interests include reading large books (see above), roller derby, and gently correcting people who believe that vampires should sparkle.

When before the end of the first page you're able to connect the dots (even with the limited bits and pieces of the world created that the author lets us on) and realise something serious is about to go down - that truly promises a great episode. And shit sure goes down in this third installment to the series, and goes down hard. So hard that when the adrenaline finally wears off, the silence doesn't provide any calm but only more hurt. Especially when you realise that the thing you figured out at the very beginning is still hanging in the air...
Brilliant!
