Adrienne Rosen and Layla Harvey were looking for a fresh start. While Layla's fresh start took her out to a high paced life in LA, Adrienne ended up in the small hometown that Layla had left behind. After 10 years away from her hometown, Layla is coming home for Christmas, much to the dismay of Adrienne who has worked for and lived with Layla's nana the past 6 years. The girls know that they need to learn to put aside their differences and get along as nana Harvey insists that they spend all their time together. What they didn't bargain for was the feelings that they would develop. Is the magic of Christmas enough to let go of their pasts and move into a future together?
Erica Lee finished writing her first book, Dear Santa: I’m Gay, in December 2016. Erica currently lives in Pennsylvania with her wife, dog, chinchilla, and bunny. She spends her days working as an optometrist and her nights snuggled up on the couch with her furry family, binging on netflix or youtube.

This was a simple and straightforward little Christmas novella. It definitely has Hallmark vibes, and in this case, I mean that positively and negatively. It was cute, it nailed the small-town vibes, there wasn’t a lot else. The romance was incredibly formulaic but in the kind of way that perfectly scratches that Christmas-romance itch. I think this is the type of novella that you will enjoy reading but have trouble remembering the following Christmas.
If you want to munch down Christmas stories like popcorn then I think this will more than fit the bill. This is a perfect little holiday diversion that is low-angst/conflict and gets straight to the action of chaining together cute holiday themes moments for the protagonists.
Holiday Healing is a story about two women who, on the surface, didn't match. From the first moment there was a lot of annoyance between them. They couldn't stand each other. But then there is Nana and never underestimate the power of a Nana. Holiday Healing is a sweet, heartwarming, small town holiday romance. There is a lot of misunderstandings, confusions and of course attraction and chemistry. The characters are great. Especially the delightful Nana. It’s a wonderful story that will get you in the Christmas spirit.
Erica Lee has a real gift for writing Christmas romance books. I like getting to know the characters that have made an appearance in other books. Layla has an amazing Nana that knew just what she needed and the Adrienne would be the perfect person for her.
Layla and Adrienne, two young beautiful women with a tough past spend a month together prior Christmas. While Layla is in town for the holiday visiting her Nana, Adrienne found its home their for the past years under Nana’s wing. Even though they weren't related, Nana became pretty soon her own family. Spending time with Layla was something that at first was expected from her, as to entertain the granddaughter of Nana Harvey. It is a sweet story that doesn't start with an immediate sympathy for each other, on the contrary, they both find annoying things to one another. But it looks that Nana Harvey is quite the matchmaker. It is not just Christmas that does the magic, it is only the fact that they are right for each other, but until feelings are spoken they both think the feelings are only one-sided. It surely does have a happy ending but be prepared to shed a tear or two now and then.
Reader type: If you like lesbian romance, the cheesy sweet type and love Christmas, this novella it is especially for you. If you realized that you read it in one sitting, it won’t surprise me. I can recommend it to YA readers.
My favorite quotes from this book: “It always amazes me how naive kids could be. But I guess that was the beauty of childhood. You could believe in everything because the world hadn't proven otherwise yet. If only life could stay that way. My life would be a whole lot easier if I could just believe in things like a child would.”
“If you keep an open mind, I bet you’ll find something that is even better than you ever dreamed. It could be in front of you the whole time and if you don’t give it a chance, you could miss out on something spectacular.”
This is told from the view of Adrienne and Layla chapter by chapter. Layla left a little town in PA after high school and is living in LA doing this job and that. Adrienne is living in that small town after being kicked out by her parents. Layla comes back for a month after a request from Nana. There's a month of holiday festivities before Christmas. Will Adrienne and Layla figure themselves out?
So I read this after “Finding Home”. So knowing what happened in that book for Adrienne and Layla had the story continuing. So if you haven’t read it, please do. This story was such a heartbreaking and yet heartwarming story of two women who each were going through a rough time, both being handled and cared for by Nana. I loved how Nana had basically forced her granddaughter to come home from LA, where she escaped after a tragedy and had Adrienne pick her up at the airport. Adrienne has been living with Nana since she took her in after coming out gay to her family and they told her to leave home. Both these women need each other and it was up to Nana to pull a little holiday magic. Such a sweet story from Erica Lee, again…….
A sweet hometown Christmas romance. Both characters were around the same age. Had some chemistry. I didn't feel the spark that normally is found in Erica Lee's books. It was well written and full of Christmas spirit. I will continue to follow her on her writing journey.
Wonderful holiday story. It’s not quite enemies to lovers — more like, aggravating to sweethearts? Adrienne and Layla sure aren’t too fond of each other at first, so thank goodness there’s Nana to see through all that, lol. She sets them up good. And then talks about them to their face in just enough doublespeak that it’s not quite blatant? “Sometimes we look at things too quickly and miss the beauty that is right in front of us. Just because something isn’t what you expected or thought you wanted, doesn’t mean that it isn’t perfect.” Mmhm… totally talking about picking a Christmas tree there. Totally. 🤣
Anyway, it’s just a little angsty with both of them insisting first that the other is a jerk and later that everything they feel is one-sided, but there’s plenty of sweetness to compensate — coming back from L.A. to the small town, dressing up as elves and Santa to cheer up kids, taking the perfect holiday picture, karaoke duets, and more. Not to mention the airport scene! So, yeah. Perfect for the holidays. Go Nana! 😁
Sweet Christmas Novella. Layla agrees to return home to her small town in PA to spend Christmas with her beloved grandmother. Ten years ago she left after an accident took her parents from her and she has been looking for herself California. Grandmother for the last several years has taken in Adrienne who is about Layla's age. Adrienne was kicked out by her family and has been working in Layla's grandmothers various business. Grandmother has lots of activities planned for the holidays. Things start off frosty but soon warm up. I could easily have read a full length novel about these two main characters. The feelings and ending seems rushed but that happens in the shorter book format.
Holiday romance, meddling grandmother and trip home. Great storyline, good dialogue, HEA. I really enjoyed this story. I read Finding Home by the same author and saw these 2 characters and wanted more of their story.
Great little read. Really enjoy this short read and the journey between Adrienne & Layla & of course Layla’s clever & cunning Nana who helped them come to the realisation they were meant for each other.
4 stars. So cute! I really enjoyed this. Layla and Adrienne were both great characters and I felt for them for the things they had been through. I liked their chemistry and watching them fall for each other and figure out how to be together. Just a really sweet read.
