In The Christmas Watch, Lindsey works as a florist and waits for her special someone under the tree. Is Marcus the one? And if he is, why is her childhood best friend acting so weird?
In Merry and Bright, Kelly can’t wait to bring her new fiancé home for Christmas, but when he breaks up with her the night before they are supposed to leave, she is devastated. Her co-worker offers to carpool with her home, but when a huge snowstorm hits, Kelly realizes God might have different plans than she thought. In My Revised Christmas List, nurse student Chloe is too busy to sleep, much less look for love. In the middle of finals, working at a diner and trying to earn enough money to keep her apartment, could it be that love was just around the corner this whole time?
And in O Christmas Bree, Bree has worked at her family’s Christmas tree farm for her entire life and yet feels like she still doesn’t know her place in the world. When her dad gets sick right as the selling season starts, it’s up to Bree to keep things going. Does God have a plan even in the midst of the insanity?

Just like when I reviewed Erynn Mangum’s other novella collection, “We Are Gathered Here”, let me just share my fangirling thoughts after I finished each novella :) –
The Christmas Watch:
It was so fun to read about a character with the same name and spelling as me! Goodness, y’all, this was precious! I really enjoyed this one! I really do think this one was my favorite just because of the plot. :)
Merry and Bright:
Ahhh! That was so sweet! I found the last half to be read quicker than the first, but overall, it was just so cute!
My Revised Christmas List:
Chloe’s so hyper, I love it. Also: Another Landon in an Erynn Mangum book is always a good thing! :D
O Christmas Bree:
This was so cute & Christmas-y with a great message! I loved that this one had less romance in it and lots of faith content!
~
So, YES! I so enjoyed yet another novella collection/book by Erynn Mangum. I’m not shocked at all; there’s a reason she’s one of my top favorite authors. :)

"Something weird was happening. I don't know when it started. Maybe it was there all along and I never noticed. Maybe it was something new. Somewhere along the way, though, the line between friendship and something else with [him] had been blurred."

This was a sweet collection of clean Christmas novellas with awesome faith content and relatable characters. They basically all followed the same skeleton and this quote above could sum up the result of 3 out of 4 of the novellas. They definitely felt a little repetitive and it seemed almost as though it was the same story with the setting and background of the character being shifted. However I read them as palate cleansers throughout the last Christmas season and this month and have absolutely loved the quick heartwarming reads!

More than the super sweet friends to lovers romances, there was also great family connections and faith content as the characters were supported by their family and friends to make the right decisions and to spread joy throughout this Christmas season!

"Whatever happens, it will be good if I make sure my heart is where it's supposed to be. Which is only ever and always waiting on His direction, just like the Wise Men from long ago. It is Christmastime, after all."

I’ve been eagerly anticipating this book for a while now, and I’m glad I saved it for Christmas Eve - it was a perfect read for today!

The Christmas Watch - probably my favorite in the collection. I loved the friendship between Lindsey and Jason, and I liked that her family was so good to him and basically made him an honorary member of their family.

Merry and Bright - I love snowed in stories and this one delivered. It reminded me of a hallmark movie, where the main character gets dumped right before heading home for the holidays. I felt bad for Kelly and I liked Joe a lot. They had many sweet moments.

My Revised Christmas List - Chloe and Landon are next door neighbors. He was very sweet and I liked that he looked out for her.

Oh Christmas Bree (love the title!) - I think I liked this one the least, though it was still enjoyable. It ended somewhat suddenly and there was no real resolution to Bree’s dilemma. Also, the tone of this story was much more somber than the other three, and there was much less romance in the plot.

Erynn’s characters are relatable and deal with real problems and issues, but I find that they all sound very similar. The same with the guys.

However, this was a great seasonal read. 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5.

I love grabbing an Erynn Mangum story because they are quick, easy, fun, and full of sweets and coffee. I've been waiting weeks to finish my required work/book club reads so I can jump into this reward.

One of my criticisms is that all her MC are very similiar, which does make it easy to put yourself in their shoes but makes them hard to distinguish. This short story series wasn't my favorite and I probably wouldn't have finished it if I didn't have a prior interest in her writing. It was very poorly edited.

1-The Christmas Watch: quick and very sweet. Probably the best story of the series.
2-Merry and Bright: Desperately needs to be edited. I keep rewriting sentences in my head. It is hard to criticize an author you like, but this is a definitely self-pub story that feels like a first draft. Show not tell...
3-My Revised Christmas List: I'm not even sure why it was important for Chloe to be a nursing student. She wore scrubs to class, which I don't believe is necessary, but spent most of her time working in a bakery/cafe.
4-O Christmas Bree: A good ending story, however, I'm not sure how many readers would make it this far. Again there are so many holes, "why should I care" moments, and really bad dialogue (just because you might say it out loud doesn't mean your characters should speak sloppily) that it fell flat.

Average Rating of ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2
Before this, I'd only read one book by Erynn Mangum, and that one was a skim-read for me because I had a lot going on and life was busy (when isn't it?). Anyway, I loved this book! It was filled with sweet novellas that just warmed my heart like a cup of warm cocoa (yes, it does warm my heart, just for the record). I've gathered my individual thoughts on the novellas below...

The Christmas Watch
⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2
I love it when the main couple are childhood friends who end up being more than that. Lindsey was a fun character, and so was Jason! I didn't like Marcus very much, but I don't know why. It wasn't like he was a terrible guy, I was just sort of was unimpressed by his character in general. But Lindsey and Jason! I love the way that they did Christmas events together, and their relationship progressed as they carried out traditions that they always did together. It's something that I personally haven't seen much in Christian fiction books.

Merry and Bright
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My heart sort of broke for Kelly when her fiancee dumped her. That was so bad! Poor Kelly. But the main couple in this book.... oh, Joe and Kelly! (Am I the only one who can't say those names without thinking of You've Got Mail with Joe Fox and Kathleen Kelly?) Joe and Kelly were a perfect couple, and I just kept waiting for them to realize how great they were together! And Joe was so kind, throughout the whole thing. Also, what is it with me and big families in books? Oh, yeah, I come from a big family. I guess that's why I like them so much. This family just made me feel sort of at home, because they were just perfect, and I was so happy as I read this book.

My Revised Christmas List
⭐⭐⭐⭐
So, this book was... cute. It was probably my least favorite story in this little novella collection, but that's not actually bad, since... you know, I still gave it four stars. Chloe was a bit controlling for my taste, and I was a little overwhelmed by her entire attitude, so she definitely wasn't my favorite. However, I liked her relationship with Landon, and I still thought it was a really cute story, she just wasn't my favorite.

O Christmas Bree
⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2
This novella was... not what I was expecting. I don't know what I was expecting, but it certainly wasn't this. This little story was so full of faith content, and it felt... real. That's the only word that I can think of to describe this book, because I don't usually think of Christmas novellas as very real but somehow this one was. Bree was a very good character, and I was moved by some of the scenes of her trying to process her life, and figure out exactly what God wanted her doing.

All in All
Amazing. I just loved this little novella collection, and I will definitely be returning to it in years to come.

Merry and Bright is a delightful Christmas novella collection that I never wanted to see come to an end. Over the last few months, Erynn Mangum has definitely become a new favorite author of mine, and I was looking forward to seeing how she'd tackle novella length stories. I rarely give novellas five stars, as usually I find they're not quite developed enough to merit me doing so. However, this heartwarming collection of four titles was everything I could have possibly wanted, and I breezed through each of the stories in practically no time at all.

Erynn's writing is always fun and immersive, and I loved how each of these stories gave me a case of the warm fuzzies. My favorite of all was the first story, The Christmas Watch, but each story had it's own individual merits, and I loved how strong the faith message was in each one. Each main character definitely depends on her faith to help her through tough situations, and that made each of them even more relatable in my opinion.

My only complaint with the entire collection, would be the fact that I find after reading so many of Erynn's novels that her MC's kind of sound exactly the same, and it's often hard to distinguish one from the other. They're all lovely characters; they just don't have much originality from one to the next.

Overall though, this one was definitely a win win for me, and I will most definitely be purchasing my own copy of it (I ended up just borrowing it from the library) as I can foresee myself wanting to reread this during each and every holiday season in the years to come.

Final Rating: 5/5.

I can't recommend this one enough, and I'm looking forward to checking out Erynn's other novella collection in the near future.

4 Christmas Novellas under 100 pages each.
I read and loved the first 3 novellas in this collection. I skimmed through the final one and decided I was good skipping it, at least for this year. Erynn Mangum has written some of my favorite friends-to-lovers I’ve ever read; also, she writes the absolute best families that I just want to spy on. I’m hopping fully on the Erynn Mangum band wagon and I’m now looking forward to reading all her backlog!!

The Christmas Watch
5-stars
This was the second thing I’ve ever read by Erynn Mangum (Mind the Gap being the first) and I have no doubts I will be buying more of her books without question. Lindsey’s relationship with her family was so realistic and endearing. Jason’s story was written in such a way that I easily filled in the gaps. By the end of the book it really didn’t feel like a novella to me at all, as my brain seamlessly filled in back story with the facts given. I definitely would have loved to spend more time just spying on Lindsey and Jason’s friendship. They had me grinning like a fool and so in love with their chumminess. Maybe it’s because I fell in love with a friend from junior high…but this love story felt sweet and realistic and nostalgic and all the good things.

Merry and Bright
5-stars
Warm fuzzies, that’s what Merry and Bright gave me. It kinda feels like it shouldn’t, since it begins with Kelly’s fiancé dumping her right before they planned to drive to Arizona together for Christmas. But Joe, oh Joe, just the best of the good guys. I love her family, her mom especially! When I turned the page and saw The End I wanted to cry. I need more of Kelly and Joe. I desperately wish there was more to this story, not because there has to be for it to be a good story…no, just because I was NOT ready to put those characters on the shelf. I’m so sad we didn’t get to see “true” Christmas morning. I easily could have this story double or triple in size just continuing with where it left off seeing their relationship blossom.

My Revised Christmas List
4.5-stars
Right at the beginning Chloe gives me slight Emma (Jane Austin) vibes. More than anything, though, she just makes me tired. She was so busy and stubborn and exhausted. My absolute favorite was her reaction to Christmas caroling. As a church we carol every year. I definitely have had some of the “this is awkward” thoughts she had. Opposites attract has to be done in just the right way for it to feel feasible and possible. In this case, I totally bought the attraction between Chloe and Landon.

🎄It seems fitting to review my new favourite Christmas collection in Christmas Day🎄

Hear Them Ring is a collection of four Christmas novellas written by one of my all time favourite authors ever, Erynn Mangum!
Erynn’s novels are always filled to the brim with witty characters, hilarious moments, fantastic faith content, and real questions and worries you and I might have ourselves.
Her books always point to Jesus as our Saviour. Her characters always, in their own ways, teach and show us how great God’s love is. Her writing is always so filled with the truths and teachings of the Bible, weaved throughout her stories.
And that right there, is what makes me love everything I’ve read from her. It’s so hard to find contemporary fiction that fantastic, that enjoyable, filled with characters that witty and entertaining, that also has faith content that amazing.
Add Christmas to the mix and I am literally squealing out of joy. I kid you not, these Christmas stories make me want to shout from the rooftops about her writing ;)
They just *feel* like the perfect Christmas. Hot chocolate, warm fires, cozy sweaters and lots of presents. That’s what these stories feel like!

Now I should probably actually go into a little bit about these stories I love so much!

These Christmas novellas are full of wonderful characters, the Christmas spirit and so much more!

It isn’t just about a holiday and the fun plans they’ve made. It’s about the first ever Christmas, with a Baby born in a manger, to save the world from sin. It’s about a love we cannot imagine from a God who loved so much that He sent His only Son into the sin filled world, for sinners.
It’s Christmas, with a message so beautiful we cannot comprehend it.

If you’ve read this far, thanks for putting up with my fan-girling over this author and her books ;) They’re just that good!
I will never stop recommending her books, and I hope all you who’ve never had the blessing of reading one of her novels will perhaps someday pick one up for yourselves.

🤍♥️ Merry Christmas everyone! ♥️🤍

Christmas Scrubs Sale
Nurse Scrubs are worn for several reasons, including: They are sanitary and relatively simple to maintain. They are easily recognised in any situation; they appear professional; and they protect the skin from harmful substances and bacteria. They keep patients from becoming infected.
Christmas Scrubs are also required for occupational therapists in some rehabilitation centres and hospitals. If scrubs are not required, then you will typically wear a polo shirt with either dark coloured pants or scrub pants. Pharmacists can also wear scrubs, according to research, but it ultimately depends on where they work and also their personal preferences. Scrubs are much more common among hospital pharmacists than among retail chain pharmacists. Depending on the job, pharmacists may also wear lab coats.

Hear Them Ring is a Christmas novella collection that includes four novellas: The Christmas Watch, Merry and Bright, My Revised Christmas List, and O Christmas Bree. All four are warm, cozy Christmas love stories. And I won't lie, from the very first chapter you can tell where every one of them is going except for the last one. Let's just say this, Erynn Mangum really seems to have a thing for blondes with either blue or green eyes.

One reason I love Erynn's books is because I find that while I am reading them I pick up my own Bible to read along with the characters. If her characters are going to read a chapter, I am going to read a chapter. It's one thing to get lost in a story and another to get lost in a story and learn about Jesus.

Recommendation: If you love cheese-y love stories, this was made for you. Warm, cozy, easy reads around Christmas time are always a pleasure.

3.5 rating. I don't usually read Christian books but Amy had this for her advent challenge and she didn't get it so gave it to me to read. Just your typical romances (4 novellas in this book) without much heat, I think we got a kiss in one, a hug and a kiss in another and maybe a peck on the cheek in story 3 with no kissing or hugging in story 4.

DNF at 50%
I read the first two novellas, and honestly I liked them decently. But the writing was super cringey and disjointed. I’d give the first one 4 stars and the second one 3. These are the only two I read. The third one seemed to follow the same plot line the first two followed: girl is focused on someone or something else, the guy she’s known for years has feelings for her and she finally notices and they fall in love. And I did not wish to continue to basically read the same story but with different character names and occupations.

I read [at least some of] this every year at Christmas. Merry & Bright and My Revised Christmas List are my two favorites of the four novellas, but they are all good! I'll get the plots and titles mixed up, but I really love the hero of the snowstorm story. I mean, they're all good, but that one especially! Erynn does sweet SO WELL!

These are fluffy comfort novellas I re-read each year. I love the friends to lovers trope and these do that so well. (Three of the stories, anyway. O Christmas Bree is a little different.) Joe and Kelly have my entire heart. The dialogue feels so natural and the flirting is cute.
