I am not a fan of MAME. Yes, her books are among some of the most popular BL and the TV adaptations of each of them have hit big (Exhibit A- TharnType, Exhibit B- A Love By Chance). Yet I am not a fan of her work. I apologize in advance as this may seem like a rant but I am not a promoter of toxic relationships. It is not that I want to see I perceive the world as a picture-perfect setting and not realistically but rather I do not want to give an example to the world that everything should be filled with drama or toxicity. I maybe contradicting the first statement with the latter but I rather read about a much more balanced relationship. This is not in anyway related to the book I'm reviewing but a rather general outlook on MAME's books.

Surprisingly this book was quite the opposite of her normal routine. Here we actually saw a healthy relationship blossoming. The dislike towards the LGBTQ+ community was still present here, yet everything else was quite normal. As for that reason I gave the book an extra star (Yes I was thinking of giving it a 2 star review). Also I am among the very few who did not like the drama as much as others. As I have been on a binging quest on all Asian BL dramas, naturally I've stumbled upon and watched 'A Love By Chance'. Although I love the actor who acted Pete's character (Saint) in 'Why R U?', I was not a fan of his here. Maybe it was cuz of his character. I was not a fan of his super submissive character. Another factor that really made me not like the book was that. The complete classification of characters to specified roles in a relationship. Books such as Manner of Death, Silent Reading and SOTUS are books that goes against the norm and gives a much more realistic description of people in a LGBTQ+ relationship. Unfortunately the only character I truly loved in the TV adaptation was Can, it was impossible to not fall in love with that man-child with a mouth that clearly had no filter.

Although I was not that satisfied with this, it won't be the last time I will be reading MAME's books. As it is just the first book of hers that I've read, I'll actually give a chance to the others too. I might not hold my hopes onto TharnType because I already have an inkling on how toxic the relationship was but I do not want to give up on it until I actually read. As always I shall conclude this by providing some promotional images of the TV adaptation that goes hand in hand with the novel.

Y esta se convirtió en mi última lectura del año (#100), la cual he disfrutado mucho más de lo que creí. Muy hermoso de ver el crecimiento personal y de relación entre Ae♡Pete. También le tomé cariño a otros personajes como Can y la madre de Pete ¡Son todo unos guerreros y leales a los suyos hasta el último aliento, amo!

Mame siempre tiene cosas cuestionables, tanto en sus libros como en las adaptaciones a series, pero este libro, en 2019 cuando lo leí me trajo muchas cosas buenas. Como regresar al mundo del BL y descubrir el lado del BL tailandes, así como una shipp que ame y adore como nunca antes había amado una shipp, y una relación que me dejó bastante mal una vez termino jsjsjs, pero en fin, muchas cosas que no me arrepiento y que de verdad todo tiene relación con este libro y la serie.

Siempre será un libro que amaré aunque no creo tener la voluntad de releerlo, ocupara un lugar muy especial.

Un libro tierno, pero no me termina de gustar la pareja principal. ✨

Creo que lo que influye es la personalidad de Pete, que es demasiado tímida para mi gusto. No es de mis características favoritas en un protagonista.

Siento que a veces la personalidad de Ae es demasiado posesiva, me parece un poco tóxica. Es una ficción pero igual me saca un poco de la lectura.

Lo que si me gustó fue la relación de Tin y Can, por lo que leeré el segundo libro por ellos, tambien para ver como se desarrolla la relacion de Ae y Pete, que si bien no fue mi favorita espero tomarle cariño y poder disfrutar más de su relación.

¿Quien diría que disfrutaría tanto esto? 😂😂😂

Esperen, esperen, hay una historia detrás del como termine leyendo esto y el porque lo disfrute.

En medio de mi enorme bloqueo lector, termine conociendo el mundo del BL y entre las series de culto de Tailandia, encontramos Love By Chance (que para resumir hace parte de un universo creado por Mame, así bien al estilo Avengers... pero BL y en universidad je je je) y... no pasé del 2do capitulo, no tengo una explicación racional para eso, simplemente quedo abandonada.



Perooooo... últimamente me entro la curiosidad y es que la mayoría de estas series están basadas en libros, ya que vi una enorme cantidad de series.... ¿porque no leer un libro?, siempre veo comentarios tipo: En la serie es un amor, en el libro es muy toxico, así que tome esto como experimento a ver que es el mundo BL desde una perspectiva literaria... en tailandia, en occidente tenemos joyitas como Captive Prince, la saga de Beautiful Monsters o Heartstopper, así que sin más decidí conocer a Ae y Pete.

Quiero aclarar que busque la manera más legal de poder leerlo pero ya que no sé tailandés, estaba algo difícil, tampoco encontré una traducción a inglés peroooo esta una traducción a español... en Wattpad, así que....


La historia esta narrada desde diferentes perspectivas, principalmente desde la de Ae y Pete.

⚽Ae: Un chico que estudia ingeniería, leal a sus amigos, protector, bajito según los estándares (y lo van a mencionar todoooo el libro) que un día rescata a Pete accidentalmente.
🦐Pete: Por otro lado, Pete es un chico demasiado tierno, tímido, sumiso(?), inseguro (x10000000), amoroso y desde el inicio nos hace saber que es gay.

En realidad... esperaba que esto fuera peor, tengo que mencionar 3 aspectos a destacar de todo esto.

1. Por lo mismo que no es una traducción oficial, no sé si es que en verdad esta escrito así o esa es la forma en como escriben/redactan/editan en Tailandia sus libros o yo soy la bruta que hasta ahora lo descubre


Verán, normalmente estamos acostumbrados que se nos describan las acciones de los personajes, ejemplo:

Me dí la vuelta y Ae me tomo del brazo para detenerme.

Pues aquí estaba escrito como:

Me dí la vuelta
(Agarrar)
Era Ae quien me detuvo

No sé si me hice entender... pero era en algunas partes como leer el guión de una obra, aunque igual después de unos capítulos me acostumbre, solo que en su momento me tomo por sorpresa.
Al igual que habían personajes que rompían la cuarta pared(?) y le hablaban directo al lector o incluso agradecían al escritor porque al fin podían narrar (un poco curioso pero no me quejo)

2. Creo que esta es una historia que esta hecha para ser leída y no vista, calma, no me maten.
Me refiero a que en la mayoría de estas series hay escenas que dan cringe (y no lo nieguen quienes lo hayan visto) también hay líneas que dicen los personajes que son mejores leerlas que escucharlas.

Un personaje claro, es Pond, recuerdo que en los 2 capítulos que vi de la serie.... me dio tanta, pero tanta pena ajena su personaje, por no decir que me fastidio un montón.
En el libro.... también me fastidio, pero fue mas tolerable.


Aún no entiendo porque lo quieren tanto, literal es demasiado entrometido, arrecho, ruidoso y fastidioso, le rescato como 3 momentos por mucho en el que en verdad siento que fue un buen amigo.

3 Por último creo que de no ser por Wattpad no habría disfrutado tanto de esta historia como lo habría hecho si lo hubiera leído normalmente, verán, leer los comentarios de la persona que lo tradujo y de las personas que lo leyeron era como estar en una lectura conjunta, era genial ver un momento o frase y ver otras cuantas personas comentando lo que yo también estaba pensando, sin mencionar los chistes y Dios, todo un fandom ahí, de verdad que me la pase riendo casi todo el tiempo.


🏳️‍🌈Para terminar mencionare cositas en sí de la trama.

Honestamente esperaba un Chernóbil de toxicidad y sexo (así describen la mayoría de personas estos libros, no me juzguen😂) y tengo entendido que cada libro trata a una pareja diferente, así que si esta es la historia de Ae y Pete, estuvo bastante bien.

Ae tuvo sus momentos de posesividad y celos, pero si hablamos de toxicidad... la verdad estuvo bastante bien, he leído peores personajes, así mismo Pete es un amor, bastante inseguro de si mismo, pero en medio de todo este par parece funcionar bastante bien (aunque hay cosas por hablar y mejorar)


Ya sé por obvias razones que el siguiente libro se centrara en Tin y Can, no tengo la menor idea de la serie por lo tanto tampoco sé nada de ellos en el libro, pero digamos que su historia me llama.
No me pueden juzgar, yo caigo por personajes con traumas como Tin y Can es alguien curioso, creo que no he leído a un personaje tan... hiperactivo y alegre (?)


Así mismo sé que Ae y Pete seguiran apareciendo pero tengo la duda de que tanto influyen ahí, porque vi bastantes comentarios sobre cosas que no han pasado, así que no sé si la serie esta basada solo en este libro o en general en su historia a lo largo de los 3 libros pero centrada en ellos, por no olvidar el problema inicial que fue lo que los unió y no supimos nada.

Aún no sé si vaya a continuar con el siguiente libro... pero lo que si sé es que Mame ha hecho de las suyas dando drama y sufrimiento en sus historias, ya veremos que le tiene preparado a estos personajes.

Love By Chance is my first every Thai BL drama that i watched. I fall in love with the story and yes, i'm at the point that i could not move on and watch other drama T^T.
I love how Ae's character is built into a very mean yet humble person and Pete the Khun-chai that's kind of weak but want to protect his beloved one. Not just a normal BL story, i learned quite a lot from this story; How love can actually built from unexpected meeting, how to respect other people sexuality, how to not quickly judge someone from their behavior.

When i decided to read the book. It's not much different from the drama, but yes i love the book more. And i also realize how great Perth and Saint characterized Ae and Pete. Owh, i would like to tell how much i love Pete's mother! She's a very strong, independent women and i really love her so much! I like how open minded she's, and how she prioritized her son happiness, how she support her son relationship. This mother and son relationship and a total goals!

Pete is so lucky to meet someone like Ae. and Ae is so lucky to have someone like Pete. Their love is so pure. They learned lots of new things, especially for Ae, he learned lots of emotion he never feel before.

Also, i love the book more because i can understand from some other characters perspective, POV.
Especially Pond! He only get a little POV on this novel, but i really like to be able understand his feelings. He's that one friends that's so annoying, disturbing, yet become the most reliable person that we need. Someone that we really need.

Because we're focusing on Ae and Pete love life, there's only a few POV for Tin and Can. Yes, that troublesome couple. Don't hate someone too much if you don't want to fall in love with them XD.
Type character is the great spice for TinCan story - even it's only a little.

I wanted to read this 'cause I watched the series of Love by Chance (also known as My Accidental Love Is You) and I loved the series. The book deepends the characters and is bit sexier, but saddly has one major flaw; The english translation is quite rubbish. Now I don't know how much this is to be faulted by the original text (Thai) or has the translation just made up by google translate, but clearly it hasn't been proofread before publishing. - I found it quite insulting that I bought a legal version, and not too cheap either and reveice a copy with so many flaws, way to go Kindle! - For examp. the sex of the charachters varies through whole book randomly between pronoun he/she and some of the contest just doesn't seem to be making sense. (Though this I think relates to cultural phrases, which are many times hard to translate to another language anyways). This makes the story often confusing to read, specially for readers who haven't seen the series.
Despite this quite big flaw, I still wanted to give the book 4 stars. Why? Cause I simply love the story and since I've already seen the series, I could bypass many typo's. (Still think I should have a proofread copy, though!)

Btw, the series has much better english subs, I'm currently waiting for the series 2 to start, should be soon. (Sep.2020) Strongly recommend to all BL lovers!

Me gusto mucho, pero siento que faltaba algo. He leído Love mechanics (mi libro Thai favorito) y 2gether, ambos me han enamorado. Luego leí Oxygen y literalmente me aburrí la historia más aburrida que he leído y ahora con My accidental love is you (la cual me la recomendaron un montón y tiene serie así que dije voy a leerlo para poder ver la serie), no digo que me aburrí o que no me gusto porque es todo lo contrario, ya que toca temas del autodescubrimiento y la aceptación, pero siento que todo fue muy color de rosa, osea si tuvieron sus problemillas pero todo fue muy básico.

De los personajes me gusta Pete, se me hace super tierno y tímido desde el inicio a fin se ve como tu conducta va cambiando a una más segura y juguetona.
Aparte de eso me traigo una intriga total con Tin, ¿que carajos le hizo el hermano para que sea tan mierda? -aunque en los últimos capítulos me da penita-
Que onda con CAN con este chico, sus pensamientos me dejaban confundida lol, pero me gusta su inocencia.
Y Ae SOLO DIRÉ QUE LO AMO - quiero un Ae en mi vida-pero no me gusta cuando se pone en plan de macho celoso pero bueno.

Hay un montón de personajes secundario, el que más resalta Pond (4to italiano), no entiendo como Ae lo soporta pero ayudó mucho a su amigo.

¿Tengo dudas?
Un montón, principalmente con la familia de Tin. Así que me definitivamente me leerle segundo libro.

I am super picky, so the grammar issues and the fact that the book was not paginated like other kindle books actually really upset me. It looks like it was just scanned in? There's a black boarder and you can't change the very tiny type on mine. That said, if I weren't trying to read this on my phone these things would be less important- still, buyers should be aware.
Now, about the actual story. I watched Love By Chance and I really liked it. I was curious about the story and knowing there were several books about it, I had to have them (this is the only one I can find that's been translated). I love the characters, and found the story really sweet. Even though it didn't answer all the questions I had about the series, I had a lot of fun reading it. Honestly, even with some grammar issues, this would still have been a five star story for me except for how hard the eBook is to navigate. If you can find the translated copy in paper form, I would definitely recommend that.

A big surprise from Mame: a genuinely wholesome and lovely main couple! Minimal toxicity, no more than you'd realistically find in a regular relationship between two, very sweet and innocent 18 year olds trying to navigate romance for the first time.

My fave elements:

The way Pete and Ae negotiate around their inexperience with sex and do research etc is just unghhhh *insert a million hearts*. And Ae trying to figure out what all these feelings he's never had are rings so true to life.

The amount of communication between Pete and Ae! Even when they feel all awkward/ jealous/ insecure at first, they quickly spill it out and sort it out without big drama.

Pond is friendship goals.

It's as good as or even better than the series, which is crazy because I love the series!

Esta fue una de las primeras series BL que vi, por lo que tenía curiosidad por leer la historia, aunque no me había animado por completo hasta ahora porque me entró la curiosidad por la tercera parte de la historia (aunque aún no llego a leer. el tercer libro).

Me daba curiosidad también la diferencia entre TharnType (porque la serie es más subida de tono), pero me di cuenta que aunque este libro tiene una parte más inocente, aún conserva gran parte del estilo de MAME en sus otras historias.

Lo que me gustó fue que aún dentro de esa parte inocente trata temas interesante como las dificultades de la comunidad LGBT en la sociedad y con la misma familia. Lo que no me gustó es que los personajes a veces son un poco frustrantes y desesperantes a excepción de Can, quien sin duda es mi favorito.

Buena lectura para pasar el rato.

Leí este libro por causalidad, debido a una sugerencia de Youtube, vi la serie de la cual estaba basada este libro, su título (serie) es "Love By Chance". La serie me encantó, así que dije: vamos a por el libro!!, el libro me gustó mucho también, pude descubrir cómo iban a continuar sus personajes.
El libro trata sobre el amor que nace entre dos estudiantes universitarios de distinta clase social, mientras uno es deportista, rudo, valiente y "echado pa'ante", el otro es todo lo contrario, tímido, debilucho y guapo.
El chico deportista llamado AE salva la vida del chico rico y guapo llamado Pete, a partir de el deseo de protección que siente AE hacia Pete surge el amor.
El libro está muy bien, aunque mi nota seria un 4'8, no está es Castellano, yo lo leí en Inglés, aunque no creo que leyera un buena traducción (es la oficial eso si) pero había momentos en que no sé entendían o yo no supe captar el significado de algunas frases. Aun así lo recomiendo muchísimo.

Even though sometimes both feel jealous of the other, usually they resolve it quickly so their relationship is quite healthy, they worry about the other and you can notice that they love each other

It is a really sweet and chill Story. Perfect for BL Beginners it has at the End a little spice but all over all pretty chill and spice free. It also goes for the BL Life Action Series. And also how Pete Charakter Growths.
