On the run, and he’s still trying to figure out how that happened, Trask Sinclair must keep psychic Allys Joel from getting captured, or killed, before they get to the safe haven promised in Mystic, Wyoming. HOW CAN A GOOD DEED GO SO WRONG Trask Sinclair is a reasonable man. Skeptical, sure, a little removed, but he's a writer, and he enjoys being a popular novelist and living comfortably. When he saves Allys Joel from a bully in a hotel lobby, Trask doesn't expect to lose control of his life to a reluctant and beautiful psychic, a mind-controlling bad-guy, a cross-country chase and a talking cat. Truth is stranger than fiction. Allys Joel sees the future when she touches someone. That's why a Wall Street firm held her prisoner for sixteen months. Her escape embroils the sexy, somewhat aloof, Trask Sinclair in her world of people with powers. And her search to discover the secrets that can save or destroy them leads to Mystic, Wyoming, where they just might find their forever - together.

Trask Sinclair is a well known author and a reasonable man. When he's in a hotel and sees Allys Joel trying to get away from someone, he steps in to help. He's disturbed by the man trying to get Allys as he sees something he can't explain. The man has white eyes with black pupils that only appear at certain times. By helping Allys, Trasks is pulled into a world that he doesn't understand. Allys was a kidnapping victim who was held for 16 months because she could help a major finance company make more money because she can see the future. Allys spent months planning her escape but Vargas is determined to catch her again. Trask is now with Allys as they work their way to Mystic, a town in the mountains that's a safe haven for a variety of people with paranormal abilities from psychics to shapeshifters. On their way to Mystic, Allys and Trask are accompanied by a talking cat and they meet people who help them out in one way or another. And Trask himself discovers he has the ability to connect with animals.

Well written with engaging characters, this book was absolutely wonderful. It brings you into the story and keeps you there with intrigue and romance. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

Trask Sinclair is a popular writer and is happy living in New York and working on his books. When he saves Allys from being bullied by a strange man in a hotel lobby, he has no idea what he has gotten himself into. Allys is a psychic and cannot touch other people without seeing one avenue that could be their future, so she has led an isolated life. When her life is in danger and she just needs to escape she inadvertently pulls Trask into her nightmare.

The only way to keep Allys safe is to travel across country to Mystic, Wyoming where the people there can save her from those who wish to extort her gift. There is no way the two of them can make it on their own and accept help from Mr. Nelson, a man her father told her to contact for help from Mystic. Mr. Nelson sends help in the unexpected ways.

When I first saw the cover of the book I was unsure if I would like the content, even though the cover was super cute, but the saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover” definitely came into play. The story was fantastic. It was original, fast-paced, full of twists and well worth the read.

This book was a highly enjoyable, fun, great ride. The author created a fascinating world. The characters were a lot of fun and it's very well written. I enjoyed the colorful characters and personalities. Awesome world building and character development. Gabi Stevens is a new author for me, and I love her writing! It flows so well. Trask was a great character, very loving and protective of Allys from the get go. Allys was a bit of a mystery at first, but once her story unraveled, she came across as amazing and strong. I loved the humor throughout the book, it was really fun to read. My favorite character was the cat, Mal! The book had non-stop action, romance, twists, and turns which sucked me in from start to finish. Great storyline, and great characters! I’ll be on the lookout for more of the author’s work. I highly recommend this.

This was a fast, fun paranormal romance that read like an action thriller as well. (And I love action thrillers.)
Trask Sinclair is a writer living in NY when he crossed paths with a woman who is running from someone or something. Allys Joel is a young woman with a set of talents that are in high demand from some unsavory people. Vargas is the man who’s been tasked to bring her back and will stop at nothing to do so.
I appreciated the fast pace of the book, and bits of humor Ms. Stevens wove throughout. There are some unexpected twists and turns, but none that threw me too far out of the story.
I really enjoyed getting to know the characters, and hope to get to learn more about the town of Mystic, and the people who live there.

I loved the premise of this story----seeking sanctuary in a protected place for "special" people. I'm not a big fan of paranormal, but I like a little, and I was wholeheartedly "in" with the powers that Trask and Allys and Vargas (the bad guy) had. If you liked King's Firestarter or The Dead Zone, you'll like these characters.

There's lots of tension and suspense as the characters try and stay ahead of those who want to take advantage of them and will go to any lengths to do so. Lots of wonderful surprises, yet the author had me believing it all. This story really grabbed me. I read it in a couple days. The romance grew slowly and was satisfying, with characters very deserving of love. A really different story and a great read I enjoyed a lot.

I am an avid and voracious reader, and this is my favorite of the books I’ve read so far this year. There’s a little romance, a little action, a little intrigue, a little magic and a lot of heart. Ms. Stevens weaves an amazing story that sweeps you up and runs with you and you don’t want to put it down.

Allys is on the run, having escaped a horrible situation and unwittingly drags New York’s Sexiest Writer into the thick of it, running from a strange and powerful man hellbent on getting Allys back. Trask is exactly the kind of man you want to meet when you’re in a terrible pinch and Allys is a wonderful foil.

I do hope there will be a second book as I want to know more about Mystic.

Fun and exciting

Great read. Keeps you on your toes, waiting for the next thing to happen, Loved the banter between Mal and Trask lol. And the fact that Ally’s started tossing one liners. Have thoroughly enjoyed every book from this author under all the names she published under. You will not be disappointed!

I loved this book. Trask and Allys have an adorable slow burn romance. Mal, the cat who insists he is not a cat, is the best side character ever. It is action packed and the pacing is great.
