LIKE FATHER LIKE DAUGHTER - BOOK #1

Libby Carter is pretty sure she didn’t kill her husband…

When Libby wakes up to find her husband Ryan murdered in bed next to her with no memory of how it happened, she can only assume the worst. Daughter of the infamous I-75 Strangler, Libby is afraid that becoming a serial killer is in her DNA. Is she truly capable of killing the man she loves?

The evidence against her keeps stacking up, and it’s enough for an arrest…

It’s no secret that Libby is the number one suspect, and when she makes bail, she knows she has no choice but to turn to the only man who can help clear her name. Her father. After visiting him in prison, she decides to take the investigation into her own hands. Libby finds an unsettling lead on Ryan’s murderer and learns her husband might not have been as innocent as she thought.

But every clue she uncovers leads to another dead end…

Libby must risk her life to discover the truth about her husband and his murder, but things become even more dangerous when she realizes someone is watching her every move.

FAMILY TIES - BOOK #2

Libby Carter can’t hide from small-town gossip after being suspected in her husband’s murder…

Libby heads to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to open her own private investigation firm and live out her life in peace. But her father soon calls her back to Kentucky with a promise to finally break his silence about the murders for which he’s serving a life sentence.

Libby hopes to learn the truth about the murders in her father’s own words…

When her father bares his soul, Libby sets out on a new journey—to learn the truth about her family history. Along the way, she uncovers a dark family secret. One that her father has kept hidden her entire life.

Family ties are strong, but not unbreakable…

Does the evidence lead to the peace Libby seeks? Or will she be forced to permanently cut family ties?

BROTHER'S KEEPER - BOOK #3

The I-75 Strangler is still out there, and Libby Carter has one last chance to find them…

Libby knows her father is innocent, and now it looks like her best suspect, her half-brother Brian, may be innocent as well. Though it breaks her heart, Libby helps Brian self-surrender to the police in order to keep him safe while she searches for the real killer.

Libby is running out of time to put the pieces of the puzzle together…

With the help of Detective Sebastian Webster, her father Randy, and her partner Harper, Libby finally uncovers the identity of the real I-75 Strangler, but the serial killer won’t come out of hiding willingly. Now Libby must figure out a way to lure them out of the shadows.

If her plan doesn’t work, her brother may wind up lost in the prison system forever…

The killer is smarter than Libby thought, and now she must play a dangerous game of cat and mouse to bring them to justice. When the I-75 Strangler gives her a final ultimatum, Libby has to decide between her brother’s freedom and bringing down the killer who has caused her family so much pain.

No matter which choice she makes, someone will die. As her brother’s keeper, Libby has to figure out a way to save him and those she loves before it’s too late.

Like Father Like Daughter

Formatting:
The book is very easy on the eyes, comfortable. Looks great.

Editing/Proofing:
Must be a professional job! Only noticed a couple of typos.

Characters:
Definately advance designed. For Libby along, I go from feeling sorry for her, to wanting to smack her (She doesn’t always handle things well and has a knack for trouble) back to feeling bad and relating to her… I think Kaye did a great job of laying down the groundwork with some of the other characters. Libby’s mother and mother-in-law, lawyer and even the lead detective and prosecuting attorney have very strong personalities. Continuity works on all of them as well.

Overall:
From the very first page, I was hooked. Libby wakes up covered in blood and… stuff. Of course it looks like she did it! She literally woke up to discover her life turned upside down. All the reader can do is helplessly watch as things just spiral out of control for Libby. I couldn’t put it down - it was exciting throughout.
I did predict it - I predict everything - I don’t think that means everyone will. I highly recommend this. Very suspenseful and exciting!

Cover:
Cover appears to be professionally done and I like that it’s original. Nice and dark, like some of the content.

Editing/Proofing:
Excellent! Appears professional. Third person POV, clear and concise. No mistakes noted.

Formatting:
Great, nice clean appearance.

Character Design:
Complex! We’ve got new characters and carry-overs since we’re in Book 2 of a trilogy and those who are returning cast are consistent and well-designed. Libby’s the same person I love to root for, who occasionally gets on my nerves with her antics - though I’d be the same way so I love to relate to her.

Overall:
Really suspenseful read. This picks up right where its predecessor, ‘Like Father Like Daughter’ leaves off. I mean RIGHT where it leaves off - it’s perfect. Libby’s picking up the pieces of her life, starting over a bit but somethings are not that simple. Could not put this down. It does end in a cliffie, but the third book in the trilogy is available now, so I really cannot complain. (And I’m off to dive in!)

Brother’s Keeper

Right on par for this trilogy, I’m sucked in from the very first page. Brother’s Keeper picks right up where Family Ties left off—RIGHT up—so you’ll want to read the whole trilogy in order—at least, I would. This book does kind of take breathers to fill the reader in though, so you wouldn’t be lost if you just picked up this one.

The characters are true to themselves as they were originally developed when we first saw them all. There’s action, and though every minute of it was predicted accurately by me, I still completely could not put down the book - I enjoyed this read and had to keep going, even knowing what would happen. This is a great world Kaye has created, love the small-town feel, the drama, the action, the family dynamic - all of it makes for a great escape. Every time I set this book down, I missed it so much.

She wraps up the trilogy nicely, giving the reader a brief but complete epilogue. Very good read and really recommend.

Editing is good, only a few mistakes noted.
Continuity is decent.
