I love collections like this one! That someone, once upon a time, took the time to collect and then publish the stories, rhymes, songs, etc for us to read hundreds of years later, amazes me. I'm a collector of these myself and am always on the lookout for new ones. It's fun to find new ones to pass on to others, especially children, who may keep the story or rhyme or song going. I've even revived a few long forgottens among kids in my neighborhoods that have come to my story times! Plus, it's fun to find old forgotten sayings and use them in a new context! Archaic words are a hoot to revive as well! There's plenty of all of these in this book. Something for everyone who takes the time to read it.

I could read folklore every day. That's how much I enjoy it. This is an old text and I liked it a lot. Not only does it give you a perspective on Welsh mythology and certain folklore tales, it also gives you a perspective from the time of the "writer" which I found equally intriguing. This book was free at Amazon on Kindle. Highly recommended for the student of folklore and for writers interested in finding ideas.

This is a nice little collection of superstitions and folktales, as opposed to literature like the Mabinogion.
