I spent ages trying to find a comprehensive starting point for my Buddhist journey. I found others were ok but this one really does feel like a comprehensive, immersive journey that ticks all the boxes and makes every chapter easy to understand!
This is a great book to get start with a great basic understanding of Buddhism and Buddhist practice. I Will be suggesting this book for those who are interested.
Great introduction into the Buddhism. I have read two books by this author and find it to be easy to understand with deliberate language that aids a new initiate on their journey ong the eightfold path.
I enjoy the information, tone, and style. This is the 2nd book on Buddhism I've read by this author and, again, it's been a useful aid in my discovery process. I would recommend to other beginners.
An excellent text for the beginning Buddhist, or anyone who is interesting in learning more about Buddhism. This isn't my first experience with Buddhism, and in fact I've met people who study various forms of Buddhism including monks in Cambodia. The teachings contained in this book can have a huge effect on your life even if you aren't a believer and only want to better yourself.
The teachings of Buddha can help reshape how you think and feel, and it can help you gain control over your actions and responses so that you can become a better person. This book shows a lot of parts of those teachings and then details them out for the reader in a simple and easy to understand way. I love the descriptions as well as the discussions, because it helped me to see things in a better light and put a label on different pieces of the human experience.
This is an excellent and short book that will help people decide if they want to pursue the topic even farther and learn more about Buddhism. The author does a great job of explaining things in a simple fashion and relating it all back to normal life. Worth checking out!
