Kurona new best girl?

Another volume of funny shenanigans of cute angels and demons. As the volumes and chapters go on, it's turning more and more into an ensemble show despite Gabriel being the titular character but that's fine because then it's not just a one trick pony (or angel).
Speaking of the ensemble, Tapris received quite a bit panel time and her chapters were the best part of this volume. She meets a new demon (who became instantly another favourite character of mine in this manga!) and there are funny misunderstandings. And suddenly Tapi is the knowledgeable one! It's nice to have different dynamics like that. Tapris grew on me a lot in this volume (awww the scarf scene!).
I also thought the chapter about Raphi and Tapris visting the coffee shop was great, it was absurd in a good way. On the other hand, Satania stalking Raphi chapter wasn't very funny. But that was only chapter I was "meh" about in this volume. There were many panels I could use as reaction
All the girls are drawn squishably cute, especially Tapris. ♥ No complaints about book's physical quality, all looks good and the colour page in the beginning is always a nice addition (although this time the pic was a bit oddly composed. Minor thing, I know. :D).

I bought the series, so I'm reading it even though I despise it.
As a Southern Baptist, I find the notions of "bad angels" & "good demons" to be preposterous. So I've really had a hard time getting into this series. One thing I've noticed - the author doesn't appear to know all that much about Christianity. What they do know, it seems to come from the Catholic faith. So I suppose I could nitpick every little thing. I'm not going to do that. The misguided ideas about what Christianity is & is not are the only reason I'm sticking it out to the end. I just find this whole series to be ridiculous. And in the case of the angels, & the red-haired demon, well, they are incredibly annoying. I can see why none of these girls have friends outside their little angel/demon circle. Most people who find them to be annoying AF. Ok, off the soapbox. Art, decent. Dialogue, beyond belief. Just bizarre. Characters, as previously mentioned, annoying. Also, not very interesting. None of them draw me in. I just don't feel a connection with any of them. Although the kind demon with the short black hair is so cute. I think she is the only reason I don't walk away.

We had an expression when I was in high school: "funny as a rubber crutch." That expression applies well here to both type and quality of humor.
This was the volume that the falling of Gabriel from valedictorian angel to lazy gamer was explained. It was just as lame as everything else in this series.

My YA child and I love the anime, so we read this manga together which continues the story. The chapters varied in quality. My favorite was a Holmes and Watson story, with a super cute full page drawing and a tip-top story.
Ch. 38 - mood candy (LOLs)
Ch. 39 - cooking club (OK)
Ch. 40 - café visit (OK)
Ch. 42 - How Gabriel became a game addict (great)
Ch. 43 - Holmes/Watson (favorite)
Ch. 44 - Cleaning story (LOLs)
