Gabe Chance is the youngest of the three Chance brothers who are a cornerstone of the town of Shoshone, Wyoming. He's getting ready to ride one of the family's prized paint horses in the town's yearly July 4th parade when he notices a good-looking woman being held hostage by a bratty Appaloosa and decides to ride over and give her a hand.
Morgan O'Connelli was all excited to finally be in the town's parade when the horse she rented decided Morgan wasn't the boss of him and wandered off to nibble some grass. After a vagabond childhood where she rarely lived in one place for more than six months at a go, she's decided to make a life for herself with her own real estate business in Shoshone, a place she fell in love with when she lived here for a bit of her junior year of high school. Reconnecting with Gabe Chance, on whom she had a major crush 12 years ago, for a bit of fun is the icing on the cake.
Ms. Thompson has in Ambushed! a light, fluffy bit of western contemporary escapism. The action of the novel takes place over less than a week. In that span they have lots of sex, Gabe conquers some heady family drama, Morgan raises and then dismisses a desire to remain childless and the two of them get engaged and plan to have children. Everything is dealt with lightly, to say the least. But, if you check your sense of responsibility at the door, what remains is a hot whirlwind romance with witty dialog and lovable characters.
Sure everything moves absurdly fast, which accounts for the three-star grade I give it, but Gabe and Morgan talk, laugh and play together as much as they get down and dirty. While I may not buy their HEA outright, I'd put a good bet on it, they were just so damn cute together.

3.5*-4* I admit to being biased against series romances, and the relatively few I've read have pretty much confirmed my knee-jerk reaction. But this book pleasantly surprised me. The female lead is a strong, and on equal footing sexually with the male lead. While the basic romance plot was standard, it's the characters, both primary and secondary, that raised this book above average. They were fairly well-drawn and interesting for a short book. I may go back and pick up the first book of the series, and am interested in the next book, which I assume will be about the oldest brother, Jack.

As always a wonderful storyline and great characters - not just Gabe and Morgan, but all the secondary characters too. I know I've said this before, but I love reading cowboy stories now - and Vicki Lewis Thompson is the Queen of cowboys! Loved it! 5☆

This book was awesome. I have really enjoyed the sons of chance series so far. I didn't think Morgan was going to give into Gabe at the end. I was extremely happy when she did. I didn't expect Jack to come in and help them get back together either. I was quite shocked. I would totally recommend this series.

This was a quick and easy read. Light hearted and sweet. There wasn't overly much to it but it was a good enough romance. I have rea a lot by this author in the past and have probably liked her other books more than I liked this one but this one is exactly what it promises to be, and there's something to be said about that.

Good follow on from book one, with Jack still needing that attitude adjustment for his extreme rudeness.
Though I did laugh at his antics at the end, helping Gabe win his lady love with some sensible advice.
But once again I didn’t connect with the two main H’s. Didn't feel the love though I enjoyed the journey.
Will read Jacks book one day but not purchasing it.

Morgan and Gabe—she’s a realtor who grew up on the move and wants to put down roots in the town where he—her HS crush—lives; he’s riding the circuit with his cutting horse, trying to make it into the Hall of Fame. Sparks fly when they’re together, but they ultimately have different goals. It takes a bit for them to reach their HEA.

I like how the characters and the story develope with each book, and I love hearing about all the horses. I can only imagine living on a horse Ranch like The Last Chance Ranch. Being I've owned horses and have been all over Wyoming and this area I try to picture how this Ranch would look like against the backdrop of the Grand Teton range.
Gabriel (Gabe) Chance, is the youngest of the Chance sons, and is the only biological son of Sarah Chance. He spends most of his time away from the Ranch riding his show "Paints", perfecting the riding skills that his father taught him, but also drawing attention to the "Last Chance Ranch" and their award winning Paint-Horses that brings in revenue to the Last Chance Ranch.
He is at a fourth of July parade to ride his favorite Paint when he runs into an old high school friend who has recently relocated to the town to start her Real Estate business. Morgan (half Italian, half Irish), is a fiery, beautiful and busty redhead that Gabe falls head over heals for. At first they tell each other it is just good sex, but one thing leads to another and soon they are the topic of many family discussions. Seems like Jack, the oldest of the Chance sons, and even Sarah are worried that Morgan is only with Gabe to get her hands on the Last Chance Ranch.
A whirlwind affair and smoking hot sexing, leave both Gabe and Morgan wanting more, and before long Gabe has proposed to Morgan, but she is afraid to let go and of what his family will think. Gabe finally convinces her to marry him and have children and before long the Chance family have excepted Morgan as one of their own.
Beautifully written visuals of the land, and the animals, Cowboys, family drama that has more ups than downs, romance and hot sexing make this series enjoyable.

Gabe is totally ambushed throughout this novel: first by his brother, Jack; then by his mother, Sarah; then by old friend, Morgan, a spitfire who's completely his type. (Morgan is described as top-heavy, yet I found myself wondering just how top-heavy she was, and if she might be a full-figured woman. I imagine she's not, though that's something I'd love to see more of in romance novels.)
A few days into their relationship, lots of assumptions about their future are being tossed about, from Jack, Sarah, and even Gabe and Morgan. Her resolve to not get married and have children based on her family life is a big issue, one that she seems completely set on following, going so far as to break up with Gabe. Then Gabe, after a discussion with a drunk Jack, decides to tell Morgan they could have children together or not have children together, but they'll continue living in the same town thereby not repeating her family's pattern of living in a caravan. And Morgan is a-okay with this!
I can understand Morgan's desire not to want her children to grow up as she grew up, always on the go, a new town every year or two. However, it irritated my feminist sensabilities when Gabe tells her they'll stay put after they're married, and she's suddenly willing to forget (or ignore) all the thoughts she's had during the course of the book about not maintaining -- or starting -- a long-term relationship with Gabe. I wish she'd stuck to her guns a little more, given that this is the second in a three-book series, but I realize the final book is reserved for Jack's and Josie's romance, so we needed a complete HEA here for Morgan and Gabe. And since they're planning their wedding in two weeks, I imagine they'll get it.

Gabriel "Gabe" Chance of Last Chance Ranch is champion competition rider, whose itching to get back to the circuit, yet has to get thru traditional Fourth of July Parade first with his family. It's the first parade since his father's death more than a year ago. When he spies a fellow rider having trouble with her horse. Morgan O'Connelli, a real estate agent, thought it would do her business good to advertise during annual Fourth of July Parade but didn't count on having an unruly horse or wearing shirt that is one size too small for her body. She never expected help in the form of devastatingly handsome Gabe Chance her cowboy fantasy come true either. Gabe offers to switch horses with Morgan not expecting the spark of passion to thrum thru his body instantly either. For Gabe, Morgan is his ideal woman in every sense of the word and thensome. Together they can burn up the sheets in passion but neither of them are looking for long term relationship either. Meanwhile Gabe continues to have problems with Jack about Doozie and getting back into competition. He doesn't want to resort to violence if he can help it but doesn't know what else to do either. Can either Gabe or Morgan admit their is more to relationship? Will Gabe resolve his problems with Jack? Your answers await you in Ambushed.
Ambushed is an aptly named title for this second book in Sons of Chance Series. Gabe and Morgan are both ambushed by their desires and feelings for one another. Nick and Dominique are getting closer. Jack continues to be a problem for everyone. Definitely looking forward to my next adventure in the Sons of Chance Series.

Morgan O'Connelli's return to small town Wyoming is motivated by a need to settle down, to find roots, after a life of constantly moving with her parents. But a husband and children are the last things on her list of to -do's especially when she spent so much of her childhood playing babysitter to her six younger siblings. But a chance meeting with Gabe Chance during the 4th of July parade threatens to upset all of that.
Gabe Chance, youngest of the Chance brothers, has no plans beyond getting his horse, Top Draw, into the cutting horse hall of fame. But his brother's penny pinching threatens to put paid to that. Perhaps a brief, sensual encounter with a woman he'd known briefly in high school, is just the thing to stop him from pounding his brother's face in.
Neither of them want more than some shared fun, after all. So why would there be a risk? And maybe his brother needs to stop being so uptight about Morgan being a Realtor. She's not after the ranch, no matter what Jack might think!
But the attraction between them is undeniable and the threat of it turning into something more might well be more than either of them are prepared, or willing, to handle.
The humor and sensuality that runs through this book is undeniable, and combine to produce a lovely story that I truly enjoyed. As an audio book it also worked very well for me, and the narrator had a pleasant voice that lent itself easily to the sensuality of some of the scenes.

I am a big fan of Vicki's and she doesn't disappoint in he books. The romance and suspense is their just like in the the first book in this series.
A Cowboys Temptation goes way beyond that...things get hot and steamy with Morgan and Gabe. They can't get enough of each other in the little while they have been seeing each other and they think staying away from each other is going to fix that until he shows up at her door one night. Did Gabe get the surprise of his life.

Get ready to rumble!
They both knew each other's bodies, an all-you-can-eat buffet of their favorite foods, a true banquet - an endless feast of their bodies. But, everything in moderation!

B550 Jul10 Gabe is home because he's rescued an injured horse. His brother Jack is running the ranch after their father's death. Jack's attitude is driving everyone crazy with his 18hr days and no time out for anyone. The ranch is owned by the four survivors, not just him. Morgan has returned to the only place she can think of as home. Her nomad parents never stayed long in anyone place and she longs for roots. As the oldest in her family of 7 children she's not ready for commitments, even if it's Gabe asking. I like the conflict between the brothers, they go after what they want, but they still listen to their mother. Sarah is strong and sees what and how to bend her sons to her way of thinking.

In this book we have a great story-line, several steamy scenes, and, lives changed in Shoshone near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Lives literally collide on the Fourth of July Parade celebration, water-eating contest, and, all the other events that ended with togetherness between Gabe Chance and Morgan O’Connelli. She had long ago had a crush on Gabe while he barely remembered her in school. Of course, her parents had been sort of vagabonds that traveled in a van with a load of kids so maybe she hadn’t been around that long before moving on. There are funny scenes involving ghost stories; romantic scenes involving swarms of mosquitoes; and, the Chance family watching Gabe fall for the amazing Morgan. I loved every minute of the book.

Drat! I admited I expect to high. I mean, I bought this series merely because of the cover. Yummy. But then I started to read and hello ... two days and you fell in love? Well, maybe it's because I don't really believe in love at first sight. Well, I believe it could happen to others, but not to me. And I think they had difficulties to differentiate between love and lust. IMO.
But then again, most of the time, we, the reader, can see it better than the player, right?
1 star for Morgan
2 stars for Gabe
4 stars for Jack, Last Chance and people in it, and the ending.
A bit corny and silly, but I loved it.

Love it!!! I made a mistake and read Book 3 first but going backwards didn't take away from this yummy temptation. I like Gabe & Morgan, they have realistic personality traits in common, both are very practical and they have great chemistry. Things get a little complicated when all the emotion and family tension gets added to their fun times formula. Sweet couple, their story provided some much needed comic relief and I thoroughly enjoyed this cowboy's fearlessness even when challenged. I received a free copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Sparks fly from the start when Gabe Chance and Morgan O'Connelli meet. A fun fling with no strings sounds like a great idea, but there's just one problem: their hearts didn't get the memo...
While Ambushed is nothing spectacular and breaks no new ground, it is a solidly good book the reader can enjoy, with likable characters to root for and steamy sex scenes to enjoy. The ending feels a bit rushed but is reasonably satisfying.

As much as I really like reading series that follow a place or a family..I found this really boring... I don´t like horses very much so thats probably a part of it but not all...
The charachters just felt meh....big breast, nice abs and hot sex...well as "nice" and ooooh so very cliche as that sounds I really do need a great story line and and good charachters to enjoy a book..mediocre sexscenes really doesn´t do it...

"Your my Doozie." LOL One of my most favorite quotes in the book. HAHA. Very cute fun read. Morgan and Gabe are both spunky and I thoroughly enjoyed them and their banter with each other. So happy that they found a way to work things out. I don't hate Jack so much now. I might actually enjoy the next book since it's about Jack. He might get the stick out. LMAO

Loved this story!
Morgan returns to the town where she was happy as a child and lo and behold the guy she had a crush on all those years ago is still single. Not that either of them want a serious commitment even if they can’t keep their hands off each other.

Vicki Lewis Thompson has done it again with those Chance boys! This book is very sweet and also has the closure I was looking for from the 1st book in the series. While I thoroughly enjoy reading her books, I do feel that they are a bit too short and can seem a bit rushed. Even so, I will continue to read the series to find out what happens next!

A parade, A wayward horse, and a brother so bent in keeping things exactly the same as always leads to some fierce arguments between brothers and more pain for Morgan.
I recommend this book.
