He makes me burn. He makes me ache. He makes me forget. Since grade school Murphy Wilcox and I fought incessantly. But one drunk night before my last military deployment changed everything. At least that is what he tells me. Along with the hundreds of scorching hot emails we shared. Fast forward four years and Murphy is the only connection I have to my past. The only connection I have to the woman I used to be. Amnesia is a bitch but apparently so was I. **25% of the profit from this book will be donated to the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, in hopes that it can help fund further research into PTSD**

I was drawn to this book, because I liked the idea of part of the proceeds going to charity while raising awareness for mental health disorders and PTSD. However, when I first started this book, I thought it wasn’t really for me. Very early on, there is an angry sex scene that I think was meant to draw me in, but I didn’t really find it endearing to the characters. It didn’t seem like the beginning of a great love story to me. As the story progressed, both of these characters grew on me.

Murphy and Mara are both wounded souls. They have known each other since their school days, but they weren’t exactly friends. Some might even call them enemies, but they were bound together their mutual exclusion from others. Murphy, however, has been in love with Mara from the beginning. They share this connection that can’t really be explained, and their banter remains even after their relationship takes a turn. However, after finally coming together, Mara is injured and loses her memory as well as several years from her life. When she finally returns to Murphy, she attempts to put the pieces of her life back together, but it is definitely an uphill battle. Will they be able to fight this battle together or is it a losing fight?

I felt like the story drew me in a bit more after Mara’s return, and I began to buy into them more as a couple. They each had qualities I appreciated. Mara was a fighter. She had so much to overcome, and I appreciate that Corwin didn’t act like Murphy would be able to fix Mara and her issues. Murphy was kind and loyal. Always the guy trying to help others, “Saint Murphy” left himself with little. I appreciated that he tried to do right by Mara regardless of what would be easy, and also appreciated that Corwin acknowledged that his selflessness was somewhat exceptional.

When it came to the end, I was a bit disappointed again. While I enjoy a happy ending, it seemed a bit too far fetched for me. There were a few things that just wouldn’t work that way in reality, and a few things that just seemed a bit too good to be true. I understand wanting them to find their happy ending after everything they’d endured, but it just didn’t work well for me.

There were a few typos and grammatical errors along the way (incorrect word usage or verb tense), but it didn’t distract from the story. Overall, this book was an interesting, quick read. I liked the idea behind it, and liked that Corwin was willing to tackle such a tough topic.

I received an advanced copy of this book with no obligations to or expectations from the author.

For once we get to see a woman being in the military and the effect of deployment and PTSD and how a man deals with the deployment and return. It is heartbreaking on both sides of any person’s story, but it opens your eyes from a different perspective.
Murphy you may have the title of Saint Murphy, but while you have your own past and mistakes made. You have a heart of gold just like a Saint in your actions does. He has had a crush on her since they were younger and although Mara was blind to this since they didn’t always get along, doesn’t she know that when boys and girls taunt each other it means they like each other (even if not spoken out loud). Think that was in grained in our heads as kids.
Enemies and drinking equal one drunk night and a connection that turns to friendship; however, her military deployment caused her to have amnesia. Fast forward four years and he’s the only tie to her past to try to piece together her life. Without those emails she’d really be struggling for memories to appear. She needs him to regain her memory and past and he needs to cope with the fact that she didn’t just vanish all those years like he thought. This story is emotional, heartbreaking and passionate all at once. Your heart starts to heal seeing the light is how I will refer to their relationship seeming like it is progressing for the better and then we see dark when more issues and triggers step in the way. For a while I wasn’t to certain that they would ever get a HEA with events that led them apart. I’ll say that fate or luck of the map selection led Murphy to the right time for Mara and himself. It was shocking to see him step out of the box when it came to the bar is how I will say this to avoid spoilers. But all for the positive is how it turns out.
In this story you will see PTSD, mental health and suicide thoughts and while it may be a trigger for some, it may help others know they are not alone and it teaches us as well as readers on the topics we may not know much on. Plus, a portion of the book sales are being donated to a great cause to help these studies. Make Me Forget shows you that while you may lose things at times that they are found when it deems ready. It may take years to recover and find that HEA, but your past doesn’t always define you and it may even help you become better. You won’t want to forget the characters or the story you will only want to forget the hurt and pain endured while recovering from the loss.

Make Me Forget is a short, but heart-achingly, sweet story!

Mara is a stubborn, closed off Army vet struggling with PTSD not only from war but her personal life. She’s tough as nails and doesn’t allow people to get close to her; which includes her longtime friend Murphy. Murphy is the very attractive and proud bar owner that has known Mara since high school. Watching these two interact, with their sarcastic banter was enjoyable to read. The chemistry was there from the very beginning. Mara returns to war with the promise to keep in touch. When Mara doesn’t return for another for another five years, issues are brought to light that must be dealt with and oh boy…. are there issues!

I really appreciated seeing a book that not only addresses PTSD but that it was from a female’s perspective. It’s not often one gets to read about a female war vet and their experiences. I truly liked Mara. She had been thru so much and she had me rooting for her the entire time! Once Murphy re-entered her world, I found myself cheering for him as well.

I honestly and genuinely adored this book. The story flowed very smoothly considering the span of time that took place throughout. However, I feel it was underdeveloped and had the potential to be…more. It felt as though specific and pivotal moments; thoughts and situations were glossed over when more detail should have been provided. Glossing over these details only led to more questions that were never answered.

This was my first read by Monica Corwin and it won’t be my last. Overall I enjoyed this story and truly found these characters endearing.

Murphy has been in love with Mara for years, since high school, not that the surly army chick would ever notice. (I loved getting this book from her perspective.) Mostly she just drinks in his bar and hits on guys that are no good for her and torments Murphy with all the things he desperately wants but doesnt dare dream he could have.

Then one night before her next deployment to the Devils Sand Box, she gives in and they spend the night together, he wakes up the next morning to find a gruff thank you note, and a scrawled email address. They write to one another over the next year that she's overseas fighting, for truth, justice and the American way when tragedy strikes... and Mara takes a bullet to the head that essentially wipes out almost 5 years of her memory, including her time with Murphy.

Thinking she ghosted him, he tries to move on with his life but no one comes close to the love he felt with Mara. Finally healed enough from her injuries, and acting on blind faith, hoping to find the man from her emails, she recconnects with Murphy who is distraught to learn what happened to her, and a little angry that she could forget... honestly this story was so beautiful and emotional I highly reccommend it.

It deals with the injuries and the grief in a very real way, and Mara's PTSD was fully explored in a sensitive way that I applaud Monica for.

REALLY hoping she extends this book into audio format because it's truely a wonderful story.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I was really looking forward to this book. I think the subject is very important and just like it’s mentioned in the book, if you don’t have a physical injury like a lost limb after coming home from war, people don’t think you’re injured. Yet so many service members come back with other issues that aren’t always visible. In this case Mara came back with a brain injury that made her forget a significant chunk of her life. While I loved the idea of the story, I couldn’t connect with the characters. I feel like they should have been developed a bit more. I needed more of a history about them, not just the few mentions about them knowing each other since high school. Also the plot was a bit thin. There seemed to be a lot of holes in it that left me wondering, one being how does a guy in his 20s not have sex for 5 years when it seemed the woman he loved but wasn’t even dating left and was never going to return. Also it seemed to me that Mara and Murphy just connected on a physical level but it didn’t go any deeper than that. I really wanted to like this book more but its only saving grace was the subject of PTSD and veterans returning home from war.

Make Me Forget by Monica Corwin is a love story about Mara Williams and Murphy Wilcox. If you think it is the usual love story, it isn't. Their story is gritty, raw with feelings and realistic in its subject matter. They are both fighting internal demons and, at times, I wondered whether one or the other could survive these battles. Monica Corwin's characters face PTSD, amnesia, depression and overall despair. However, in the gifted way she writes, you don't get sucked under by the characters' emotional fallout. What you do get are two flawed individuals searching for answers, searching for love and ultimately searching for each other.

Make Me Forget was emotional, angsty and stark. I took the characters into my heart and wanted to soothe them when they were needing it most. Mara and Murphy are heroes to me because they fought battles that many of us do. Monica is also my hero as she addressed these tough subjects in an honest, sensitive manner.

I wholeheartedly recommend Make Me Forget. Once you read it, I doubt you will forget Mara Williams and Murphy Wilcox for some time to come. I know these two will remain with me for a long time.

I received a complementary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Make Me Forget shows you a side of mental illness that many don't get to see. I liked the twist of the female character being the one who served and was wounded. Mara and Murphy have known each other since school days, there seems to be some tension between them from the earlier days. Years later Mara is upset she's being sent back overseas and ends up in Murphy's bar. Some harsh words, a PTSD attack, and a night to make her forget and is non-stop anguish from there.

Murphy has been in love with Mara basically his whole life. Mara never noticed. Mara goes through so much, it breaks your heart. She isn't in a good place in her head when she comes back to Murphy. Both make mistakes but the story of love and the battle with internal demons is a beautiful one. Murphy will make you melt, he makes mistakes and owns up to them. Mara realizes her head isn't in a good place and takes the steps needed to heal herself. This is a wonderful story of hope and love. Murphy and Mara will break your heart, but they will also put it back together again.

Murphy has loved Mara for a long time. But Murphy is tied to the town that Mara left behind. Whenever Mara comes to visit, they verbally spar with each other, which leads Murphy to believe that she doesn't feel the same way. Until she does. But Mara is about to be deployed over seas again. However this time is different. They keep in touch. Until tragedy strikes, leaving Mara changed.

When Mara finally comes back to find Murphy, it's like they are getting to know each other all over again. But Mara is still haunted by what happened to her.

I wasn't sure how they were going to get past the issues that seemed to be stacked against them, but everyone deserves a HEA. I enjoyed the realness of the characters, and the fact that the issues they had and the lives they led were realistic. The pure chemistry that they had hooked my attention from the beginning. The focus on the very real issues our military face when coming back from deployment grabbed my heart. This was a great book, one I'd recommend.

I received this book as one of two in a blind date with a book box and the best word I can use to describe it is disappointing.

We meet Mara drunk in a bar that she gets thrown out of only to have sex in her hotel room with the bar owner who threw her out. They do have history as they went to high school with one another, but her and Murphy’s backstory is never fully explained. Then Mara is deployed to Afghanistan (she is in the army) where she is shot in the head…only to return five years later with partial amnesia and aggressively pushing Murphy to have sex with her, even though she can’t remember their relationship (what little there was).

The story was really disjointed and barely held together. It involves a lot of running away and hiding. At the end of the day I have no idea why either one of these two would want to be with the other…and that doesn’t make for the best story in my opinion.

I probably wouldn’t have picked it up on my own and will definitely be divesting our home of the book.

A little disappointed after signing up for this book. The blurb\plot made me think it was going to a super angsty read. It was insta love, or insta something. Then the girl is gone for 5 years without contacting the hero and he just sits and pines for her. Doesn't attempt to move on and remains celibate. I find things like this a little hard to believe, If you have not seen\heard from someone in 5 years, or lets say I haven't seen or heard from someone in 5 years, I am not waiting around. That is just not realistic to me. This is just personal preference and my opinion though,

She shows up after 5 years and says she loves him and he says he loves her too. But she doesn't remember him? o.k...

I just didn't connect with this book, or the characters. Could be just a Me thing and not the author, because I just don't like the pining away books, where the characters just can't let go of the other.

I couldn't wait to start this book, after reading the blurb I had very high expectations.
Whilst the story didn't always meet these expectations, it was still engaging and an enjoyable read.

Mara Williams and Murphy Wilcox have known each other since school. Murphy has always had a thing for Mara, yet she never seen it.
Mara is in the military and has just found out that she is to face another deployment, upset she finds herself at the bar and ends up spending the night with Murphy.

Throughout her deployment they exchange emails that seems to keep them both going...

When Mara is left with memory loss, these emails are all she has to try and join the dots to her missing memories.

Mara makes her way back to Murphy but she is not the woman who left.

This couple have an uphill battle if they wish to get their HEA!!!

This was an interesting twist on the wounded soldier story. To start with Mara is that soldier. A drunken night with an enemy from school leads to a solid friendship and plenty of flirting via email whilst she is on deployment. An injury leaves Mara without any memory of her life since joining the army and the emails with Murphy are all she has to go on.

Mara suffered from more than her memory loss as she battled with other parts of her mental health too. Murphy rekindles their relationship and wants to be there fro her but doesn't really know how to be.

I found this messy at times but felt this was deliberate to show that their lives were messy, particularly Mara's. It followed Mara's ups and downs in terms of the way the story was delivered.

While I loved the concept of this story, a servicewoman dealing with the effects of post-war life as well as her disability and a man trying to be whatever she needs to make it through even at the cost of his own heart, it left me struggling to put together some of the pieces of what was going on between the two. The questions I had, hoping it would help me understand the motivation behind Mara's need to come home, while answered left me with wanting.

I love what the author was trying to bring light to, as I have been in Murphy's shoes myself, and know what a roller coaster ride that kind of lifestyle can bring. The interaction between Mara and the rest of the therapy group made me want to keep reading and see what came of all of it, along with making me love that Murphy was trying to get her help. I wish there was more of Murphy's back story as well.

Make Me Forget by Monica Corwin is a enemies to lovers romance, a standalone.
Meet Murphy Wilcox, he´s a barowner and Mara´s nemesis. Mara Williams is a soldier, from the wrong side of the tracks and she can´t be with and without Murphy. They know each other since highschool and Murphy makes her burn and ache. They have kind of a love-hate relationship. One drunken night changes everything between them. They start to email and become more.

Make Me Forget is a darkish romance and deals with sensitive subjects like PTSD, suicide and mental health problems.
I liked the story and the words, the writing is great, but the characters left me confused. I found it difficult to connect with them, I give 3,5 stars.

Engrossing

This book was “Wow”.
It was touching, loving, hard to read in parts.
I fell in love with the pair of mismatched but deeply in love couple.
Was it perfect no. Some pieces filled in would have been great. Like his Nurse to bar owner change. And why and when she joined army.
As a non military PTSD sufferer author did good job in showing some issues. One of the most frustrating things I have is the feeling of self anger of my inability so far to cope successfully. I used to consider myself “strong self sufficient woman” It is not easy. Thank you for urging others to get help.

Make Me Forget by Monica Corwin.

Monica Corwin is a new author to me, but this story, Make Me Forget is woven beautifully. I really enjoyed the aspect that Mara was the one with PTSD and having amnesia instead of it being the male character. The reverse roles were great and I love how sensitive Murphy was.

Strong topics were discussed, but the way Monica Corwin went at them brings awareness as well as patients.

Can love really conquer all? Find out by checking out Make Me Forget.

This book is hard to review and to give stars. It touches very hard and dangerous topics That could be triggers to readers.
Mara was a normal girl. After injury she had lost Her memories. After 4 years she came back and came to Marphy.
Marthy is only one person się reachs to. He is so patient and tries to help Mara. Will he manage?
Their story was hard and is showed problems That should be treated carfully and written in correct way.

This is an enemies to lovers type romance where you get mad at these characters and then happy as they fall in love. I found that they had a good connection to each other, but to me I felt they had something missing. Overall the plot with PTSD and the trauma that goes along with it was really interesting, I just needed to connect better to the characters.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.

I started this book in January on the Radish app, and was hooked from the first chapter.

I know the bar. I know the people. Monica tackles a subject, PTSD, that is hard for most to comprehend, and wraps it in a romance that is as fiery as the bourbon you know you shouldn't drink. By the end of the book, your heart has broken and mended right along with Murphy and Mara.

It's a powerful story you will remember long after you turn the last page.

On Mara's last night before deployment, she spends it with Murphy and the two of them decide to continue keeping in touch. But when the unthinkable happens to Mara a year later, she disappears from Murphy's life for four years. When she does come back will they be able to rekindle what they had? This was a story the definitely made you feel for those that suffer from PTSD.

What a great story! Ms. Corwin has written another wonderful romance with serious undertones. PSTD and depression are a part of this story of Mara and Murphy. It showcases how we push away those who love is when we feel "less than". I loved how everything comes together for this couple at the end. Thanks again for another good read!!

I found this book in my TBR pile and was captivated by the thought of a female vet. This tale is both heartbreaking and heart warming at the same time. This short but sweet story deals with mental health issues and the effects of combat. Mara returns home with both physical and mental injuries to find answers about her past. Answers she thinks Murphy can provide. The story is well written and the characters are very believable. Their chemistry is definitely there and you find yourself rooting for them. Wish there was a little bit more but definitely a good effort.

This was an emotional, fast-paced romance novel that really deals with the gritty side of PTSD -- this time with a man dealing with a woman's PTSD. The author's research was thorough and it can be seen in the writing. Mara's email and journal brings her back to Murphy who never stopped loving her after years of separation. Their path back to each other is painful but beautifully written.

This book was tough for me to get through, but that doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t reccomend it-it has a lot of potential with an interesting storyline. For me, nothing kills dialogue more than characters speaking in unnatural ways, for instance using words like “could not” instead of “couldn’t.” Every dialogue between the characters felt extremely unnatural which in turn made it very hard for me to connect to.
Mara has some serious troubling emotional problems, and it was inspiring to read about-it sounded like the author did a lot of research, which was really amazing. Murphy, someone she knew from childhood, is secretly in love with her, and has been for quite some time. Though neither character is perfect, we hope that Mara can find happiness and help for her emotional problems. It’s definitely an emotionally taxing read, and I would suggest a few tissues. All in all this was a very emotionally moving story, and I was impressed with the unique story line.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a great take on Ptsd and it being the female character that suffers as opposed to the male character. people often forget that women can suffer this as well and the men in their lives can feel just as helpless. I really like this author and couldn't put the book down. I would've liked a bit more of the back story but both characters tugged at my heartstrings.

Mara Williams and Murphy Wilcox have known each other their whole lives and they hate each other. But that changed the night before Mara's last deployement.
Fast forward five years, Mara is back and Murphy is still angry that she disappeared for the last four years. But the truth is Mara doesn't know who she truly is and what happened since she enlisted. She was severely injured four years ago and lost her memory. She only has the emails the exchanged with Murphy for a year. Will Murphy help her? Will old feelings resurface?

Make Me Forget hit me hard. Mara and Murphy's story took me in a rollercoaster ride of emotions and I couldn't stop reading. I loved all the drama, funny scenes, sexy moments, the crazy banter. And the chemistry between Murphy and Mara? Off the charts!
I loved th dual POV and the little bit about their past relationship. Why not the five stars? I wanted more! What happened in the future?

Mara is a fighter! She's been through a lot and she never gave up. She is fierce but she also has a vulnerable side.
Murphy always loved Mara but never thought he would have another chance with her. Now he's confused: can he forgive and forget? He's very sweet and kind, but sometimes he can be very stubborn.

This is my first book by Monica Corwin and she did an amazing job. Make Me Forget is a phenomenal book that will touch your heart with all its emotions and incredible characters.
