Gagged: The Conclusion

Rate this book
MORTALS BEWARE: What am I saying? If you made it this far, you’ll be fine...

The end is here.

Will our heroes save the day? Or will they lose to the dark forces that conspire against all the realms?

The demon Kinzer is on the run—a fugitive accused of a crime he didn’t commit. He’s lost what little he had left to live for. But despite how futile his efforts against Armageddon seem, he fights on...even when all hope seems lost.

Meanwhile, Trey and Kid are sent to an immortal prison to await sentencing for the same crime Kinzer is wanted for. As immortals work to decide the fates of these creatures, a greater war lingers on the horizon. And with it, will come an apocalypse that will ravage the heavens and the Earth.

All creation is f*cked, and despite anyone’s cries and pleas for mercy, no god will come to their rescue.

Devon McCormack grew up in the Georgia suburbs with his two younger brothers and an older sister. At a very young age, he spun tales the old fashioned way, lying to anyone and everyone he encountered. He claimed he was an orphan. He claimed to be a king from another planet. He claimed to have supernatural powers. He has since harnessed this penchant for tall tales by crafting worlds and characters that allow him to live out whatever fantasy he chooses. Devon is an out and proud queer man living in Atlanta, Georgia.

Devon's body of work ranges from erotica to young adult, so readers should check the synopses of his books before purchasing so that they know what they're getting into.

The conclusion has finally arrived, and I am in awe. Honestly not since Nicholas Bella has an author taken me on such an unbelievable mindfuck like this author has. And while there was a break in writing between books 2 and 3, this author managed to step right back into this world without missing a beat.

First off, this is a book with painful sex. And while many may shy away from this part of the story it is brilliantly done. These acts are not thrown in for the sake of it. These acts are such an integral part of the story, of these characters and it is in these scenes that so much is revealed about these characters, their nature, their desires and their true heart. Yes…heart. As I mentioned in my review of earlier books, what is the biggest surprise of this series is the heart of these characters and the love they have for one another. Even when you want to smack one of them upside the head… *coughs…KINZER* it is moments later that your heart melts for them just as hard.

Trey might have the biggest cock in the series, but it is no match for his heart. I swear the love expressed here between him and His Kid is some of the best moments of the book. And yet, Hayde and what he endures for the love of his life, is equally emotional.

EMOTIONAL.

Treycore could hear his body in a way he couldn’t describe, he could feel a part of Kid he seemed to only have access to when they fucked. It was what had bonded them, some connection that was so much more profound than anything they could communicate with words.

He’d lived a long life…a life of aching that only grew and intensified with every passing day. However, as much as he felt like it could be worth it to end it all, there was a reason to live: for Kinzer.

GAAAAAHHH…

While your ass may hurt, my gawd, these characters feel…they want the pain…they need the pain and it is in these moments that they…live. And I loved how in this installment we got more of their internal struggles, insights and feelings than we have previously.

Immortals had a taste for something a little different than mortals. Pleasure was one thing, but the combination of pain and pleasure and the nuances in between were far more appealing.

“In some ways, the pain is the only thing left to remind me I’m still alive."

Another aspect of this one are the numerous WTF moments involving creatures and torture elements that are just so mind-blowingly crazy…including one strap on that is a mix of “Seven” and Lucille from The Walking Dead…

…and regardless of how crazy…I just couldn’t help the shit eating grin that appeared on my face.

Because really...Devon came up with this stuff...and I love it!

Add to all this…new characters we love to hate… Aerysn and Quintz are both amazing additions to this series. Can you trust them or not? Like with previous installments…you never really now.

This is a series in which you need to put aside your mortal ideas of relationships, of religion and of sex and just immerse yourself into this world…one that is fantastically developed and explored by one unbelievably creative mind.

**Highly Recommended**

I loved this book!!!!
the collimation of this story it truly suspenseful, thrilling, and exiting to read. Kinzer, Hayde, Trycorne and Kid and the Many characters they meet during their epic quest to save earth from the apocalypse - Oh how I have missed you all.

the fantastic world Devon created is exceptionally detailed, and even though it might appear to have random creatures/ things/ events that pop up they all fit into the bigger picture, like story-line puzzle pieces. There are NOT details I felt were too much, lacking or unexplained. This is surprising when you take into consideration the vastness of the worlds, richness and multiple plot-lines. Devon really outdid himself and proved he is as much a great story teller as he is a sexy-kinky romance writer.
this plot-that by all accounts is over-the-top, intense, hardcore sexual encounters and violence infused turns religion on it’s head and added a dildo on top!!! The unnerving quality of the story, where God is the one aiming to destroy life and Satan (the Leader) to save them, is just the base of this very human tale with a very un-human cast. I think the there are many allegories in this story, as harsh and extreme as it might be, and it really goes outside of what you would expect of the genre. Devon uses al the clichés to his advantage, wreaking havoc on out hopes and expectations and constantly surprising with new twists and tragedies our heroes endure.

I think the true mastery of this book is how Devon incorporated harsh themes in a way that is so readable, and I don’t feel bothered by them at all. They fit this story, the characters, and the harsh reality of God’s complete de-Godifying, destroying a concept that is so crucial for modern society. This leaves you, even as a non-religious reader, in a state of chaos, were nothing makes sense anymore. And indeed, the characters we meet are all lost, betrayed, confused, cheated, abused, struggling to survive. And we like them like this, we bask in the complete annihilation of our world and the things we believe to be absolutely true (like God as a kind caring presence for humanity). In that sense this story is reflecting of modern culture, of the upheaval we experience in our lives, in the current state of events across the world and just living in general. When you really thing about life things sometimes stop making sense, like when I try to imagine death I sometimes get sucked into this great nothingness that is so very scary to imagine. This story is about the celebration of live and the pain of the once believed fantastic after-life and immortality. And its is still an action packed emotional rollercoaster that you can not put down even when it breaks your heart and you feel like going in there and smacking some sense into them(*ahem* Vera, *cough* Kinzer and Hayde).

High octane and thrilling conclusion this shamelessly delightfully torturous book. First of all I cannot express enough how completely and utterly entertaining and heart pounding this book was. The final road, the Apocalypse is here, our beloved immortals and one Kid are about to take the dysfunctional road trip that will take us to the final showdown with Janka! Kinzer can't get a darn break is now in the hands of one called Quintz and mourns the loss of his mortal friend Maggie at the hands and utter betrayal of the flit Hayde and is haunted by the loss and laser focused and pissed off even though he finds himself Gagged, there has to be a way, right? , Treycore and Kid, are imprisoned in "Heaven's", most frightful prison about to be handed down judgment from the Council, Hayde is on a quest for intel, even though he left Kinzer believing he is the cause of his loss, everyone is separated and in despair and everything feels to be on the precipice of utter and total collapse and this was all just a exercise in futility. Gagged exceeded my expectations and took me through so many twists and turns that never have I ever been so gleefully engrossed in this,a most tortuously awesome book. The bonds of these characters have grown and the tenuous slither of hope they all hold tight to as they all get put through the paces and along the way acquire some surprising allies. There comes a moment after Kinzer has proven his loyalty in the most f'ed up way and he is reunited with Hadye(and let me just say I am totally team Hayde!) who he begrudgingly needs and a nifty special engineered dog collar is strapped to him, that has two settings 1)Stun, 2)End and all I could think of I hope to god(funny right?) there isn't an Oppsie!! But I will never tell!

An operation lead by Quintz called Siege that is helping the leader engineered something that is meant to end the Christ devised a plan and with the help of Kinzer and others the goal is to rescue Kid and Treycore and end this nightmare once and for all.Well things go spectacularly sideways, and the stakes become even greater.Throughout all this our always horny misfits of heroes always find the time(if not the lube) to burn off some of that aggression, and do some seriously twisted hot things, that only the mind of a deliriously warped in the best way mind can conceive of. The heart pounding pace and even more surprisingly beautifully touching and heart breaking moments that occur simultaneously was perfectly constructed and executed by a master of off the rails and seriously entertaining writing. The shocking and OMG climax will paralyze you, your at the point of no return now, and you will race through these pages to get to the end.I wanted to woot and holler, but is that in giddy happiness or rage? Guess you need to read the book!

AMAZING Ending to an EPIC Saga

I was excited to read Gagged, the final installment of The Clipped Saga, and it did NOT disappoint!  Our favorite group of characters continue on their way to save the world from the impending Apocalypse. As in the first 2 books, we meet new characters and creatures bringing more intensity and thrill into the mix.  I had so many questions after Bound (book 2) and they were all answered and more!  Will the Earth and other realms be saved?  Will Janka get what's coming to him?  Will Treycore and Kid escape their judgement and get their HEA?  Will poor Kinzer catch a clue (bless his heart) and get his HEA?  I had become so invested in these characters from the first 2 books, that so many emotions played into reading Gagged.  I laughed, I cried, I got mad, and yes cringed again and again, but it was so worth it!  I felt like I was watching a motion picture with as much suspense, drama, action and all the narrative vivid details Devon McCormack wrote into each scene.  It kept me on the edge and the twist near the end was CRAZY good!  I loved the whole series, but the way this final installment brought everything together was amazing.  I hope Devon brings us readers more of the same or even spin-offs from these ??!!  A girl can dream!

Where's my medal? You know, the one that I get because I made it through to the end, that I survived. It's in the mail - good. I've earned it. This is a sit down, strap in and shut the eff up epic conclusion to this tale of the apocalypse. One that not only had you shooting at high speed to the highest highs and plummeting to the lowest lows but with twists and turns sharp enough to give you whiplash. But, with Kinzer, Treycore, Kid, Hayde and a few other choice members thrown into the mix, this is an insane ride that's worth every sharp jolt, every scream, every sob, every sigh. Take a deep breath and then take that plunge. It's worth it when you land.

I tried to think of a a few words to describe this book and really this entire series in this review. I came up with insane, twisted, awesome, and hot. This was an amazing conclusion to the series. I will say that after the first book I was really sad about Dedrus, and I was not sure I would want anyone else for Kinzer. But then the author brought us Hayde in book 2 and then in this book as well and while I am still a little sad about Dedrus, this book ended absolutely perfect!

This series was so entertaining and spellbinding I couldn't stop reading. The character development for the characters was astonishing and I especially liked the fact that 'Kid' and 'Maggie', mere mortals and the lowest of the low became the true heroes of this trilogy. I love the juxtaposition of of good vs evil in that the Leader or Devil appeared to be the more benevolent of all the realms. Couldn't really say I had a favorite character but there were a few I would love to meet in a dark alley somewhere!!!

Intense

Well well done! Finally Kinzer had a moment. This was a great conclusion. Several intense moments. But Kid was a surprise and Hyde he stuck through all of it. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and all the characters! Great job!

Wow. What an ending. Not at all what I expected. This series Definitely shows the range of what Devon writes. This is one series I won't forget. The writing was so different. But definitely something you can't put down.

Not my favorite ending. Kinzer was such an interesting character because he kept making choices and taking action to move the plot forward. And then at the end, everything is okay because the mystical being liked Kid. The POV shifted too quickly between characters, it was disorienting.

Wowzers!

If you want a truly epic adventure, to be taken on a wild ride, and to have your mind blown, read the Clipped Saga! Devon McCormack is a truly gifted storyteller and his portrayal of the complexity of the human experience through these three books is amazing. Heroism, sacrifice, love, cruelty, loyalty, pain, and perseverance are intricately woven in this story.
