After two young boys find what they believe is a dinosaur egg, the military gets involved immediately. When aliens emerge from the eggs, Neil and Mavra are struck with a moral decision whether to allow the military to analyze the aliens or to help the aliens go free. Their travels eventually take them to Area 51, where Neil and Mavra are forced to come up with a foolproof plan to help the aliens. Neil is a detective who can think independently from both sides of his brain and Mavra is a psychic with uncanny powers. The government only wants to capture, secure, and research the aliens. Neil and Mavra know this will only put the aliens in greater danger. This is a lighthearted and fun book about what might happen if aliens were found here on Earth. It brings up morale as well as safety questions throughout that each character struggles with in his or her own way.

How do I feel about this book… Well, it’s a second part of Neil and Mavra adventures, which has started in Revision 7: DNA. I loved the first book and it really made me think about many things, especially about post humanism, changes and so on. This book focuses more on Mavra, who is helping scientists and army to figure out what is this thing they have just found in the backyard. Well, it quickly turns out what it is and I think titles gives away most of it. We have small and fairly cute, but also smart aliens. They run away, then they are caught by army and there’s quarantine and another escape. All ends well. Good for them. My problem is - this story is really good and has potential, it was page turner actually. But it’s too short. There’s not enough information about the aliens and while I enjoyed their dialogues, I think it’s not even close to being enough. In his previous book, Persun went much deeper into androids emotions and thoughts, which was amazing. This book is too shallow. It made me think about how nasty people can be to others, not only to aliens, but that’s still not enough for me… I’m looking for next book, though :)

I read and liked the first appearance of Neil and Mara in Revision 7:DNA.
So I have had expectations. In fact the story itself is good. I liked it too that the story is more focused on Mara. Unfortunately the story is not long enough. I felt like I have read only two thirds of the story. Based on that there was not enough space to give the reader more information about the aliens. I also wanted to get more information about other characters.
As I understood the reader can expect more books starring Neil and Mara and I will definitely read the next book.
Anyway if you like a good story about human behavior when it comes to aliens, with two fascinating main characters you should give it a try but be aware the story ends after 145 pages and you can end up with the conclusion like me. Good but too short.
Here is a perfect example of a novel series that has a great premise, that Neil has a split brain and Mavra is psychic, and with a great beginning, but the adventure tails off into a boring oblivion. You find an egg is someones backyard, then it develops into 2 aliens, then they get captured ..... then you try to free them.
Three stars for the first half of the book, and zero stars for the ending ...... boring!
