Pretty rich in imagination and brilliant in storytelling. Funny at times, nail biting at others, and intermittently dark. Plot is interesting and unpredictable. You don't know what to expect on the next page. You might think you are reading just another fantasy cum psychological thriller but the story also touches on so many deeper emotions of it's characters.
When I picked up Gablet, I thought it would be a fun fantasy read, but it turned into so much more. Rachel Cox falls asleep and wakes up inside a dream no longer human but a green creature in a game-like world. This world is unlike anything I’ve read before: beautiful yet terrifying, filled with rules that could destroy not just your dream self but your mind in the real world.
What I loved most was how the author balanced fantasy with emotion. Rachel’s bond with her stepfather Nipun, the hidden secrets she unravels, and the haunting thought of what’s real vs. what’s imagined kept me hooked. Nipun’s feelings for Rachel made the story even more layered, especially when she was drawn toward someone else.
The writing is atmospheric at the “green house,” “green room,” the shades of harmony all gave me goosebumps. And that ending? Completely unexpected, yet perfect.
Gablet is a story of fear, survival, love, and dreams that don’t always let you wake up the same person. Highly recommended if you like fantasy that’s a little unsettling but also deeply emotional.
This is such a great book to start with, as reading a fantasy and this is a psychological fantasy. This book is about a world of dreams where you have to fight your fears to save the love of your life. I was totally hooked on this book from the start to the finish. I'm not into fantasy as usual but this book totally changed my mind about fantasies. Usually, fantasy novels are very difficult to imagine. The writing was easy to imagine to interpret, because of which this book was definitely easy to read. The beauty was this book was held by its characters Rachel, Erick, and Nipul. Does this book have a twist and thrill? it, of course, and to know that you have to read this book.
This book had me hooked from page one! Gablet: The Game of Dreams explores a surreal dreamworld where your fears are monsters and survival isn’t just about staying alive — it’s about staying sane. Rachel and Nipun’s parallel journeys are emotionally rich, mysterious, and thought-provoking. Lavina Chhabra writes with imagination and intensity that makes you question everything.
A must-read for lovers of psychological fantasy. You won’t regret entering the world of Gablet — but you might lose sleep over it.
