I don’t even know where to start with this, only that this infuriating read exemplified everything wrong with the second-chance romance trope and why it rarely works for me.
The brother's best friend thing is one that I generally like to jump on, but in this case, I found myself wrestling with every page and all of the characters for being weak in a way or another before I just couldn't carry on.
Let's just say that sheer hypocrisy of Carson was stunning. Having broke up with Amelia ten years ago to join the army for the sake—a decision he made all on his own—of not hurting her should he come back dead, proclaims that he has never loved anyone but her…yet managing to whore his way through tons of women because they were never permanent. And if my reasoning's correct here, he'd loved Amelia so much that he broke up with her, but didn't mind taking up with another woman and even having a child with her, because he presumably loved her way much less?
All this obviously, was blamed on PTSD—the condition of the century that so many books seem to make light of—that is supposed to be the sole reason why such behaviour should be condoned, understood, swept under the carpet and easily forgiven.
But Carson and Amelia met nonetheless, (he didn’t die, after all, did he, except to return with a boatload of issues), with him in an even worse state, still self-righteously justifying his decision of having left Amelia and not deserving anything more than a few nights of passion with her. Keeping his daughter a secret as well, simply added onto the pile of unforgivable sins that he'd racked up in my mile-long tally.
Amelia, on the other hand, seemed to have lost every vertebra in her spine the moment she saw the man who’d broken her heart. Either that, or she could be next in line for the next saintly canonisation.
Somehow the decade of pain and loss and hurt didn’t matter the moment he came into view and when I expected her to resist him, all she could do was to blush and fall in his arms because he was good-looking and tender and affectionate, apart from the outbreaks of PTSD. Not only did she have a problem with taking Carson to task for his presumptuous behaviour - every action is forgivable and glossed over - but his hot-cold-manner to her simply just left her determined to coddle up to him who’d done nothing but treated her like dirt.
Not a book for me, obviously, and my rating clearly reflects a blood pressure I’m still trying to keep down after skimming the pages because this simply falls way far beyond the definition of romance in my head.

I give this book 4 stars. The storyline between Amelia and Carson was a good read. It has emotional ups and downs. No cheating, no aduse, and rekindled loved? I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

A quirky second chance holiday romance
Carson and Amelia met through her brother when she was 16 and he 20. They quickly fell for each other. 2 years later Carson breaks her heart. He finished college and joins the Army. Breaks up with Amelia.
10 years later they meet again, when her brother invites them both to spend the week before Christmas with him and his family. Amelia and Carson have both spent the last 10 years trying to forget each other. As soon as they meet again it's like they were never apart.
Carson's came home a broken man. A year out of the Army and he struggles with PTSD. While he wants to reconnect with Amelia, he doesn't want to hurt her, the whole reason he broke up with her to begin with. Amelia sees the boy she fell in love with peaking through. His hot and cold actions, keep her off balance, and unsure if reconnecting is what she really wants or if it's better to put him firmly in the past.
A slow paced, bittersweet, second chance romance, a little steamy.
The interaction between the characters seems formal, and dated. like it's set in the 40's than now. Different but not off putting, made me want to see how it all played out. Amelia is a little old fashioned. Carson is more of a typical guy. Amelia's brother and sister in law were sweet. Their kids at times seemed way younger the their 8 and 10 ages and at other time far older. I did like their Hailey Mills, Parent Trap, cunning in getting Amelia and Carson together. I really liked Carson and Amelia. The epilogue was nice, would have liked to see a few years in the future, maybe them hosting Christmas.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. I enjoy the unexpected quirky formality of the characters, so I bought a copy, I will read again. The author has generously included several of her other books as a bonus.

"If I did nothing else, I would manage to get it right. I would manage to make her hate me."
I love a good second chance story! Combine that with my favorite type of book hero - the self-tortured soul who pushes everyone away to protect them from him - and I'm in heaven.
This was a sweet, but tortured story of Amelia and Carson. Dating a decade ago when she was just 16 and he was 20, their relationship abruptly ends and Carson leaves for the military. Now, her brother has invited them both to spend Christmas with he and his family. Will Amelia be able to be around Carson and keep her emotions in check? What is she to make of the mixed signals he is sending her? And, what's with all the secretive phone calls he keeps taking?
Carson has been through hell. He came back from the war with a damaged soul - one he sees no hope of mending. Seeing Amelia again has brought back emotions he thought were long buried, but he can't have her. He's not suitable for her anymore. To be tied to him is a certain pathway to heartbreak. He needs to push her away? But can he do that when his heart and his body want the exact opposite? How will she react when she learns his secret?
Overall, this was a good story. I did feel that the back-and-forth went on longer than it needed to, and some of the dialogue wasn't realistically what characters of their age would say. These are the reasons I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. But, I enjoyed the story. I could feel the heartbreak Amelia felt every time she was pushed away. I could see the man Carson wanted to be, fighting to get out. Plus, as I stated above, I'm sucker for second chance romances!

Phew- This one, Owi! Talk about raising my blood pressure!
Carson and Amelia have a strange dynamic, not one I personally would want any part of ( I was going to leave my " personal" opinion of the characters out but I can't - If it had been me- I would have sent that jackhole packing, but then I would have had more backbone than Amelia I hope!)
never the less- these two with years of heartache between them- are attempting to right the wrongs of the past.
When Carson left her high and dry ten years ago for the Army, he meant for it to be the end of their relationship. He still needs for it to be, his years of service have left him scarred deeply, PTSD is plaguing his mind.
Now home, Amelia's heart breaks every time; he cannot make up his mind what he wants.
Can these two, get off the emotional roller coaster and get down to the heart of the matter?
Definitely an emotional up and down, back and forth tug of war heartbreaker!

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
About the ending, I believe it was a bit rushed, we know all his secrets, but nothing really explained. Then when she goes all along with him trying to push her away, it's confusing. Too many questions without explanation, answers. Maybe I'm the only one with that thought. But overall ... I loved it !!!

After their degree, Carson decided to join the army and that's why he broke up with her, but didn't really explaining the why.
Amelia goes to spend Christmas with her family and Carson is of course invited. Now after 10y of silence (MIA), they see each other for the first time at her brother’s house for X-Mas. Carson thinks he's broken and she sees him at his worst ! Suffering from PTSD, he feels like he should stay way from Amelia because of all his bagages, to avoid future hurts. She's not compassionnate for what Carson did on purpose to scare her away, after his meltdown.
Can they come back together ? Will they be able to work things out, to move forwards? Can Amelia trust Carson again?
You will just have to buy the book to find out.

This a second chance love story about Carson and Amelia. She was 16 and he was 20 when they first saw one another and fell in love instantly. Carson is best friends with Amelia’s brother, Brett and went to college together. After college Carson leaves for the Army, leaves Amelia and does not look back without a reason why. Amelia is heartbroken and moves forward and eventually finishes college and has a great job in accounting. One Christmas 10 years later they are both invited to visit for the holidays with Brett and his family. Carson has been out of the service for a year and having a hard time adjusting with PTSD. He does not want to hurt Amelia so he tries to keep a distant from her but their pull towards one another is too strong! There is a tortured love between them. Can Carson and Amelia work out the past to move onto the future? Can a misunderstanding ends things before they even get started? Brother's Best Friend Unwrapped is a second chance romance written by Aria Ford, I'm voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book. Amelia, an accountant at a construction firm, receives an eagerly awaited invite from Her Elder Brother, Brett, to join his family for Christmas, she was more than excited until she discoveres who is the other invitee. Her brother's best friend, Carson Grant, her first lover, who left her and joined military. Now after 10years they are meeting for Christmas at Brett's place. Though Carson ended things between them, as he doesn't wanted her suffer, if he dies in war, but both were unable to move past them and their feeling towards each other are still raw. Bring together for one week under one roof, their passion gets rekindled and what else, only the HEA.
This book is really nice, the feeling of the leads are penned wonderfully, they pain, their love, and how to struggle with their feelings, Carson's trauma after war and Amelia's misunderstanding. Everything is wonderful about the book.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Amelia and Carson. These two have know each other for years and both of them have some secrets. However this Christmas they are back in the same place after years apart. They each wonder what will happen when Christmas is over? Will they go back to being lonely people or will they find something amazing this season?
This book is amazing it really shows us sometimes what you need the most has been in front of you the whole time. This books has some ups and downs that will have you on the edge of your seat from the first word to the very end. There is so much more I want to tell you about this book but don't want to ruin it for anyone else. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I really liked the idea behind this story of a second chance romance. I think the best part for me was showing that there can be love after seeing the horrors and tragedies of war and carrying scars of them. These two really push through some things to get to that point. Some parts were a little stilted for me which is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Overall a very good Christmas read. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

There was so much wrong with this book.
Second chance romances can be great but this one had every negative part of that trope.

They hook up.
He tries to dump her again because he has PTSD.

i wish i could rate the book negeetove....first of the all the writing was weak...it was hard to finsih the whole story....secondly the whole pushing away the heroine and its reason was soo stupid....the writing made it worse...thirdly and lastly which made me soo angry to rate this book in negative was out of nowehere it was dropped that carson had a daughter who was conceived within two years he left amelia..he didnt mention to amelia about leone even after getting intimate with her.....like you left her after breaking upf or the military so that she shouldnt get hurt ....but it didnt take time to find another women and having akid with her . moreover what was there to hide the kid.......so damn stupid.

Good story
This was a good story. The story was a little repetitive and the ending could of been a kettle better, but it was good. This book had bonus stories included but not part of this review.
Overview. Amelia was heading to her brother Brett's in LA. Brett was married with 2 kids. Brett invited his best friend Caron from Colorado to join them for Christmas break. Even though he knows that Amelia and Carson have a history. But Carson is scared since he is still screwed up from being in the military. Carson feels that he doesn't deserve a family or being involved in Brett's or Amelia's family. But Amelia is quite strong and helps Carson to understand he can recover and be loved by everyone as he is healing but even more to not be scared of a future with her.

Amelia comes face-to-face with her brother's best friend and her biggest heartbreak after 10 years.
Carson want's more with Amelia again, however he tries to deny how he truly feels. He has been struggling with PTSD coming out of the military.
Could they really get back what they once had?
I really liked the chemistry between these two. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. We do get a HEA but it was definitely not an easy journey. If your looking for a 2nd chance romance than 1-click and get started today.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. I absolutely loved Carson and Amelia story. It was well written and drew me in from the beginning. They had so much chemistry. There was so much emotional parts to this story be it happiness when they first meet and fall in love and sadness when they go their separate ways only to meet again 10 years later at Amelia's brother's home for Christmas. Both a little wounded by the years that have past and the things Carson is dealing with after he comes back from the military. There is also a lot of joy when they meet again and it is like they were never apart. This was a great read with a wonderful HEA. I look forward to more books by Ms Ford.

This book has the potential to be a good book. I loved the premise of the war veteran returning from duty and struggling to adjust to an everyday civilian life while dealing with his trauma and running into the girl he still longs for. Unfortunately this book fell a little flat for me. The story is set in California and yet there were so many times that the characters sounded British ( nothing wrong with that, but neither the characters were Brits nor was the setting). Another thing that got tedious was the constant use of “bro.”
This book has the potential to be a good book. I loved the premise of the war veteran returning from duty and struggling to adjust to an everyday civilian life while dealing with his trauma and running into the girl he still longs for. Unfortunately this book fell a little flat for me. A great second chance Christmas romance. Carson and Amelia haven't seen each other in about 10 years, since Carson left for the military. Now they meet up again at Christmas time at Amelia's brother's house. Sparks fly and the connection is still there but he doesn't feel he's any good for her. Can they make their relationship work the second time around? Carson is a wonderful and protective character, and Amelia is also a great character, I just found her to be very self centered at times.

I didn't really enjoy this book, though I really tried to.
This book was too confusing for me. The author seemed not to be able to decide whether to make Carson into a damaged hero, or a confused man-whore in Amelia's eyes. The second chance angle didn't didn't feel natural, and neither did the brother's best friend trope. There were too many awkward moments, and not enough familiarity between the men.
The children were a good touch, though.

This is my first book that I've read from Aria Ford and I've really enjoyed reading it from the start till the end. I'm a sucker for good Christmas and Second Chance Romance Stories. I loved all the characters and how kids helped Amelia at the end. The story is great and I recommend this book to all the readers, buy it with 1 click and you'll be glued from begginig till the end.

Wow...this book is so not what I expected. Aria Ford has delivered an amazingly complex storyline, with characters who are gut wrenching flawed, and an emotional roller coaster that keeps you off balance the whole time...but the journey to the HEA is something to behold. This book reaffirms that Love Always Wins. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was blown away by it.) ❤️❤️

This was a fantastic second chance story. Amelia's brother is trying to be kind to his best friend who is struggling with being out of the military. He's having PTSD episodes and doesn't feel like he's worthy of anyone's love. Amelia struggles with her love for him, especially with all the pushing and pulling he's doing with her heart. This Christmas has a magic that they both need to make their hearts full again. I'm voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

This is the first book by Ms. Ford I have read and I am very impressed with her writing. Amelia and Carson were both very believable characters with very real issues to work through. Maybe a little Christmas magic will help them reach the HEA they have waited ten years for.

Amelia and Carson really have a turbulent past. I will admit that most of the time I do not like second chance romances but this one was so well written and heartening that I could not put it down! I loved how the story flowed and how hard each person had to work to make everything work. A must read this Christmas season!!

This book had the potential to be a 5 star read, but it had a lot of inconsistency. The book is told in duel point of view and a couple of times it switched to the other view when it was in the other point of view. Overall the story line was good and kept me interested in the characters.

Brother's Best Friend Unwrapped is a emotional, fun and steamy read. This second chance at love for Carson and Amelia is well written and has an engaging plot. Complex characters that are likable draw you into their story and make you really root for their HEA. A very enjoyable holiday read that is sure to touch your heart. I'm posting a voluntary review after reading an ARC copy of this book.

Amelia and Carson still have undeniably strong feelings for each other even after ten years apart. The trauma Carson suffered made him believe he didn't deserve Amelia's love anymore which is the exact opposite of what he really needed. It was really sweet when Carson returned Amelia's locket to her.

Very well written. A bit on the unique side in this type of books. I like that about it. It is a bit different. Very well described and developed characters that are relatable and likeable. Hot chemistry and emotional ups and downs. Like the twist. No cheating just fighting to get away from your past and have your HEA.
