Grabbing Your hand, Dragging you Away

Rate this book
I am a princess, moreover, I am a fool of a princess.

Born in the imperial palace, my appearance is as average as that of the white radish and cabbages in the fields. Throughout the four seasons of the year, my face is always displaying a dull expression, eyes forever shrouded in haze.

But in reality, I know of the secrets within this palace.

Including hers, his, and theirs.

Just leisurely living my days comfortably in the palace like this, I firmly believe I can continue to play dumb to the end.

Taking your hand, dragging you away. Not leaving you say? Very well, close the doors and release the hounds. (Expressionless face)

[The title and the final line of the description is basically playing on the original phrase of 执子之手,与子偕老 (zhí zǐ zhī shǒu, yǔ zi xié lǎo) which roughly translates to taking your hand, and together we shall grow old – it speaks of mutual trust in companionship, which can be between friends, family but is most often used as a vow between lovers. Whereas the title and the final line of the description is a playful twist to this original phrase. The entire final line in Chinese is 执子之手,将子拖走。 Zi shuō bu zǒu, hěn hǎo, guān mén fàng gǒu) can mean differently depending on the context, but here, it is basically saying – I’m trying to drag you away for you own good yet you wouldn’t, fine, I have no choice but to force you to leave then – both phrases are showing the same affection, just in different ways]

Interesados:

2/19/24 ... TBH I'd give this 2.5 stars but I don't think I'd give it 3 because it was so ... it just felt so incomplete. I get why FL was so detached/removed and that was the tone but it was so dull just ... a lot of things weren't explained well.
And also all the dudes in love with her - lol I didn't dislike that but felt everything was just left hanging in almost every direction, especially that damn ending.
... maybe there was something missing cuz NU says 89 chapters but the site only went to 82 and said it was the final; though also that there were 2? 3? extras and she only "translated" 2...
whatever.

I dunno - C----?
I did like how ~touchy feely the guys were but none of them were that great I just ... meh.
Not mad I read it, wouldn't read it again, wish the men would've been more developed and stuck in a different better story :P

C18 & I still don’t know what I think of this book (or who ML is) and like… why FL would WANT to be sold & live as a slave o.O
Also?!?!?!? Considering how this society seems to be like others it is WILD how she & her cousin are like even if he’s an asshole to her he MUST like her?! She SITS ON HIS LAP. In a society where men & women shouldn’t even be close to each other much less touch…

C25 WTAF how can a first grade official (Yin) not recognize the princesses or at the very least once figuring who they are out (at least FL’s sister not formally greet her) WTAF is even happening.
And… who if anyone does Meng like?
And why did [ML?] nearly murder FL when she was 10?

C30 O.o so many secrets. So… “eldest cousin” & “seventh cousin” are extra not siblings. Eldest cousin (ML?) is the son of his mom and 🤷🏻‍♀️ (but he seems to care for his not biological dad the general). 7th cousin is aerially the 3rd prince of some other country.
Both… like FL? o.O
I can’t tell if 7th cousin likes likes her or not but seems so. Both are suuuuuper touchy feely with her. Is it people just let it go cuz a) most think she isn’t favored, some even think she’s a maid b) people think she’s mentally delayed?
Also <.< does cousin 7 know she isn’t?
Interesting eldest cousin is called “cousin” while 7th cousin is called “7th brother”…

C36 oh so “Seventh Brother’s mother is Second Uncle’s concubine” - FL is “no longer stupid.”

C37 didn’t that country gift the emperor the cloud bug thing that can get rid of poisons for his 50th? Or was that like the tree a fake?

C39 oh FL ate the cloud bug 🤷🏻‍♀️
And the end “ Father Emperor, you gave me the treasure map, telling to protect it well. And I holding onto this treasure map, is the best protection for Imperial Sister, is that right?” 😒😐

Omg c40 had me STRESSED and heartbroken over those imperial decrees - and I know he has not choice but (ML?!) accepting the decree. And his “trust me” a month later 😡😡😡 she might but I don’t.
Then FL is kidnapped!!!

C41 FL’s fool imperial child “twin” 9th prince of other country!
Also though the emperor biting her ear o.O the men in this book sure are super touchy feely.

C44-5 🤦🏻‍♀️ how did FL only *just* figure out He Lian Chen is the ~blind kid she met on the mountain?

😿 c48 I really like HLC & his backstory is so sad. I’ve been anxious for many chapters now esp since the translator warns us the author ~ruins him as a CP 😭

C55… rescued? Whatever previous c, glad consort Mi got a good death. This chapter with ~drunk HLC… 😬

Oof end c57 “He slowly pulls away, pressing his forehead against mine as he lowly asks: “‘An Ke Lan, until when will you not go ahead and leave me behind?’” When he finds her after they get separated & she gets lost on their Qi Qiao ~date

C68 I’m very curious as to what Pan really thinks about FL. And the translator notes he’s a key factor in the moving forward of ML & FL’s relationship due to his “test” which ML aced with flying colors 💪💯

C70 😐 the return of Meng. Stupid Bai. And 🙄😒 I knew it was stupid to leave FL alone ML come on. This is just author unnecessarily/stupidly creating drama.

C72… I mean… antagonizing your kidnapper isn’t the smartest thing, FL. Also where is her “7th cousin?” And 😭😭😭 poor baby tiger. It’s a pretty damn good birthday gift…

Plot: 3/5
Characterisation: 3.5/5
Prose: 3/5 (rough estimation as I read the translated to English version)
How much I enjoyed it: 3/5
Really don't understand the need for a time-travelling/soul-swapping heroine when it doesn't add much to the story.

This story was notable for its female MC. Unlike other court intrigue novels, she's not catty, she's not vengeful and she preferred to stay unnoticed in the background. All of the court intrigue that happened around her, on the other hand, was well written.  The story did feel rather weird due to how passive she was for a majority of the story. Things happened around and to her, and she just floated along with it passively. It's not until near the end that she actually decided to act on her own will, I'm guessing as a show of character development.

Also, I couldn't understand what the guys saw in her to be so obsessed with her - but I ignored that for the sake of the story.

I love how the heroin is not ambitious like most of other transmigration novel. She is calm and just enjoying her grapes~

I just love the hero. I think this is among my favourite hero.

I would love more hero and heroin scenes together.

Very good and level headed mc and ml 👍
They didn't any of the annoying traits, so common in other Chinese novels!
Ah-lan was so hurt but mature and wise...and is really very interesting to find such a black-bellied main lead of his category 😳👌
