I was hoping for a PNR book with a fierce and hot dragon, chemistry that rippled of the page and an entertaining plot… that didn’t happen. The plot fell flatter than anything has in a while, at times the characters reactions and reasons for things were ridiculous.

Finished this thinking ‘what nonsense’ – continued reading until the end simply because I was thinking how sillier could things get. I really shouldn’t have bothered.

Freebie on amazon. Only reason I’m not deleting is so I don’t accidentally download it again.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really wanted to like this book but I was not a fan of it. It fell completely and totally flat. This is the first (and probably last) book I have read by Selene Griffin.

The concept of this book was interesting and called to me. I absolutely love dragons and I enjoy the shifter romances a lot. Unfortunately this is yet another shifter romance with instant love & connection though there seemed to be little to none chemistry between the characters. There were moments where you were supposed to get the personality of the characters but they all read the same. There was no dimension to the story or the characters.

This novella really did have the curse of being too short to develop any sort of connection with the characters or the plot. Honestly, I'm really disappointed in this book and I'm surprised I continued reading. All in all, I did not enjoy this book and I almost stopped 40% of the way through.

The h is a dancer, loves the desert and the glass she finds there. One day she meets a man in the desert, he's a dragon and he likes her so much he makes an ocean of desert glass. Of course this attracts attention so they have to go on the run. Unfortunately they are both idiots, can't plan or think about what they need to do, except for one thing, she has to perform a dance before they hide! Well even that was two dances, one to show she can, after all she's been missing for days, and then one on the night. Obviously don't let anything like how dancers train, get in the way of the silly story line. I still don't understand why I finished it - watching a car crash I suppose. Not a rec.

The audience was spellbound, waiting in anticipation, as the lights came up on stage and the lone dancer began to move. Without words, with only her beautiful movement, she told a story to the captivated audience. The finale was magnificent, and as the dancer looked up, arms spread and waiting for the deafening applause, she was met with silence – and then the audience attacked.

Maia sat upright in bed, panting, at the horrible dream she had night after night at the start of every new show. Since she was up so early, she made coffee and showered and went to work. They had a 4-hour practice session, which was grueling, so she went to relax doing her favorite activity in the Mojave Desert, looking for unique desert glass pieces. She stopped by a little rest stop to visit a friend in one of the shops. Johnathan was an older gentleman from Moapa tribe who had always been kind to her. She felt safer letting him know when she was out in the desert alone with her hobby.

After exploring Maia sat in the shade of a rock and played music on her iPod. Unknown to her, a stranger was nearby and listened to the music as well. Ignacio was curious and introduced himself to her. Eventually she lost her fear of him and they spent several hours talking. He walked her back to her car and asked if he could join her next time. She felt so drawn to him and was delighted with the idea.

Ignacio wanted to find a gift for Maia – but the glass was not easy to find. Instead, he changed to his dragon form and practiced belching fire to make his own glass from the rocks around him. As he thought of Maia, he realized that even though it was less than a week since they met, he already had strong feelings for her. And in his thoughts of her, his fire became white hot and blew across the desert, creating a huge sheet of glass on the desert floor! He has no idea what consequences will follow. How will this affect the two of them? And what about their relationship – will it be side-tracked or will they take a chance on each other?

This was a good story. For me, it felt kind of like a fairy tale – but that just may be that I adore dragons! Both the primary and secondary characters were wonderful, very likable and funny at times. Most people don’t like insta-love, but sometimes it works. I think this was one of those times because these characters share a common love of the land and an openness toward each other. I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it!

ONE HOT READ!!!
Ok guys, are you ready for me? Nope, I think not, but too bad, I'm here to stay. You guys know me well enough by now to know I love jumping in head first. Lets keep the fun going shall we. One thing I know for sure is unlike most, I like to get to juicy goods and not repeat over and over what everyone already knows. I mean come on guys. You've read the blurb, you know what the other readers are saying, you know the score. But because I'm me, I'm running this show. Just kidding, there's no show silly. If you're looking for excitement, action packed, fast paced, smooth flowing read that captivates from the start. Congrats my friends you've just stepped off in it. The characters were realistic, intriguing and complex. The scenes so vividly detailed and descriptive you feel apart of the tale instead of reading it from the sidelines. The chemistry between the two main characters are white hot, off the charts, combustible and explosive. Following the characters along mesmerized as their personalities blossomed and grew to new heights. Twists, turns and unexpected surprises that will take you on a wild ride with enough danger that keeps you hanging on every word. You have your heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping while running from danger, not knowing who to trust except each other. Selene did a phenomenal job bringing this read together beautifully. Great job Selene and thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

Maia and Ignacio

The first couple chapters are very slow. There is way to much explaining of Maia's every move. We get the description of her apartment, each song and artist she listens to on her iPad, what she drinks or eats for breakfast etc. She has a reoccurring dream that really had nothing to do with the story. We learn that she is a dancer at Circus Circus. Lots of details about that.
Finally around chapter four, the story starts to get better. Ignacio shows her his dragon and what he made in the desert for her.
The thing is, I pictured Eeyore everytime Ignacio was mentioned. He just seemed slow and plodding until the end when they got taken. Then he decided to man up and take the lead.
It also left a sort of cliffhanger ending.

Spoiler...

The government coming after them like they did was a little far-fetched to me. They should have questioned them first. Ignacio and Maia could have told them that they found the sheet of glass while looking for the small ones. That was why her glasses were left behind. They had small ones in their possession so there was proof of their story. But I guess this would be a different story if things happened logically.
I believe that this book would have been better with an editor helping.

Maia, there’s one thing I’ve always wondered about… Maybe you can clear it up for me.
In many shifter books I’ve read, when the hero turns into… a wolf, or a bear, or a… dragon… the girl doesn’t usually faint, or scream, or run away…
And you are no exception. “So, you’re a dragon… Let’s make love.”

Never mind. I can get on board with that… You fell in love with him on the spot. After all, that much… glass… was too much to resist.

Well, well, Ignacio. Some guys’ll go to any extreme to impress a girl. Love does funny things to people-- er, dragons.
So, in an effort to impress your mate, you turned the desert into glass…
Oops.
Now you’ve done it!

Both of you are in deep trouble. There’s the media, and the government, and the scientists… It’s a desert storm of epic proportions. And you’re caught right in the middle of it. But they don’t know what they’ve unleashed, do they?

I enjoyed this book. It was a little chaotic and confusing in places, but not so much that I lost the thread of a good story. It’s a great beginning. And since it’s book one in a series, I hope for more to come.
Bottom line: 4 stars.

This is Ignacio and Maia's story . Maia is a dancer who is having some really bad dreams over dancing . Her favorite way to relax is to go into the desert and look for desert glass . Mia first meets Ignacio while taking a break from the sun and decides to play her musice to relax . Ignacio hears the music and stops to listen and decides to find out where it is coming from . Their fist meeting is kind of awkward but once Maia starts talking about the desert glass she relaxes . Ignacio decides he wants to make her happy and hunt some of the glass to give to her as a gift . When it is time for their date he decides to surprise her with the glass . And he shocks her with his actions !! Then trouble hits and hits hard his gift to her is bring on heat neither ever thought of !! Holy cow when Maia got cuffed and thrown into the back of a van ??!! Well Mexico here we come !! This is well written and recommended to all !! I received this ARC and have voluntarily left a review .

At its heart, the story is about a dragon named Ignacio, with a heart of gold…or should that be glass, considering how he tries to win the heart of Maia? The story is about their lives, their meeting, and their road to happiness, or more specifically, their version of an HEA. Although the story flowed, I, too, found the differing points of view, sometimes with each paragraph, a bit confusing. I did love both Ignacio and Maia and found the “secondary” characters a hoot. Just wait until you meet Maia’s neighbor and then Jonathan. And since I live in the Vegas area, I can almost buy the stumbling upon a dragon part of the story – I mean, anything can happen in Vegas! I felt like I was left hanging at the end though; there IS an ending and not a cliffhanger, however I hope the author does check back with these two sometime in a future book. A smexy read.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Mad About The Dragon by Selene Griffin is Book 1 in The Dragon In My Heart Series. This is a very quick read for a series opener. I liked the book, but there was so much more that I wanted. Maia is our heroine and human. Ignacio is our dragon hero. While the concept is very basic, (they meet, they fall in love, they run into trouble) I felt that Ms. Griffin failed to capitalize on the situations that she placed the characters in. I needed and wanted more details... who found the glass, who called the men in black, how were they being tracked. With that said, it's hard not to like a Selene Griffin read. She always delivers good characters that help you get into the story and it is a very fast paced read. I would recommend this as a good read for anyone looking for a fast read that is a little bit fluffy.

Damn, this was stupid.

I'm so disappointed. The premise is great - a dancer for the Cirque du Soleil. Las Vegas. A desert dwelling dragon. I even thought he was Native American at first and how cool would that have been? Cirque magic and native legend.

Unfortunately, the promise only lasted for the first chapter. After that, the protagonists started acting like hormonal teenagers and any world building or mythology was pushed out by endless declarations of love. Instalove is no substitute for personality. I got bored very quickly and barely managed to finish Mad, despite its mere 10 chapters.

The plot is driven by idiotic decision after idiotic decision and I'm not here for it. I'd say that the book needs proofreading for spelling and (relatively mild) grammar but honestly, only a full rewrite will do.

This is my first book by this author and I'm looking forward to more. Maia seems like a confident and capable woman. Ignacio seemed to be worldly, but with an innocence that is unexpected. I loved the supporting characters, especially Cecila. I was a bit surprised that Ignacio didn't even think about the repercussions of his gift. I loved Maia's coping technique. Just when I thought she would freak out over something, she pops off with some off the wall comment instead sounding totally sane in an insane situation. I would have liked to know a bit more about Ignacio and his background to get a better feel for the innocence he exudes. I look forward to meeting his brother and finding out more about him and their journey. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

A dancer, Maia, who collects desert glass meets a man in one of her collecting trips.

Maia does not know who she has met, she thinks he might be part of the nearby reservation population. She agrees to see the man, Ignacio, again in a few days. Ignacio is so enamored with her that he is determined to find her the best piece of desert glass he can, and when he can only find a couple of tiny nuggets he decides to make her some. That decision creates a lake of desert glass, a pile of maybe government goons chasing them to find out how he did it, and one missed off Dragon grabbing his girl and taking flight. Yeah, dragon.

This story really confused me. It wasn't written in a style I was comfortable with and I got lost more than once. It wasn't her thoughts, then his thought, they were all mixed up together. One paragraph would be hers, the next his. Very confusing. I also had an issue with the story. At first I though I was mistaken and it wasn't about actual dragons. Then out of the blue, he turns into a dragon. So he's a sexy, club hopping, womanizing drug lord? I just didn't get it. I only read an excerpt of this book so maybe it got better.

Mad About the Dragon is my first read from author Selene Griffin. A HEA fantasy romance, the book was short but morphed into quite the adventure. The only way it could have been improved was if it were a full-length book. I’m not normally a shifter reader, but this is a well-written story by a good author and the characters and storyline would work just as well with main-stream characters and setting.

Audiobook review: 3 Stars for story; 5 Stars for performance. Mad About the Dragon is a fast paced short story of a human woman who meets a dragon shifter one afternoon in the desert. The paranormal romance story has romance, some adventure, trouble for the couple. The narrator, Ms. Kelly, did a wonderful job with individual voices, appropriate tone inflections, and speed of reading. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is a quick listen with a dragon and a human. Maia comes across Ignacio and instant love. She trusts him immediately, even when things look bad. I found at times the story moved along smoothly, but it had moments that caused me to question where the story was going. It was still a decent story.

I received a copy of this audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.

The writing itself is pretty good but the storyline’s is full of holes. Things happen with no build up to them. For this reason, it comes across as something written by a teenage writer — someone who needs a bit of advice before becoming a really good writer. This is the author’s first book so the subsequent ones may be better.

It was ok. Not much that interested me except it was about nice looking men who were also dragons. Liked the part about t h e desert glass. But not enough in the series to want me to read more.

Very sweet

The Dragon in this story is a little different. Instead of being rough and gruff, he is very sweet. He makes his love a desert of glass which causes them a whole heap of trouble. The only thing is it leaves a cliffhanger.

½ star.

Synopsis sounded good and i probably expected too much from it. But the writing style etc did not meet expectations. Not well written and the plot fell flat. Will not be continuing this series which is a shame because the synopsis made it sound really good.
