The Shots on Goal Series Box Set. by Kristen Hope Mazzola
This is a wonderful box set. I adored the series and this is a great way to get the complete set at a great price. I can't say I have a favourite, I loved them all. And let's face it who couldn't love a handsome hockey player.
Hat Trick: Gavin has been made captain of the Otters Hockey team which his father is coach, and he earned it. He's worked hard through his life to get there, his father was hard on him emotionally and physically and his fiancé jilted him at the alter. So now his character tends to appear harsh and he's a bit of aa ass where women are concerned by treating them selfishly. A fellow player, Brayden: was left to look after his sister, Myla: when she and their mom were in a car accident and their mom unfortunately died. Myla has recovered well, but he would do anything to protect her. The relationship between the Otters captain Gavin and Brayden isn't good off the ice, in fact Brayden can't stand him, and when he see's a connection happening Myla and Brayden he's dislikes even more, but on the ice they work great together and they make a great team. Will a relationship develop between Myla and Brayden? Or will he just break heart? Can Brayden trust Myla make her own decisions and choice? A well developed story with entertaining characters and some exciting sports action. A nice romance with a HEA I highly recommend it!
Cross Checked: This second book in the series tells us Brayden's story who is Myla's brother from book one. Brayden has two loves in life, his family and hockey. Then his family are involved in a tragic accident and his world is turned up side down, but he'll never forget Karla the nurse who helped him through those first days and the care she gave Myla. A couple of years later, Brayden and Karla meet up again and he asks her out and she agrees, she hasn't dated in a long time so they go slow, but then they heat it up a little. At first the story slowly tells us their two separate lives, Brayden's life with Mayla and his hockey, and Myla's love for her job and the violent end to the relationship she had with her ex. The relationship that developed between them was a little rushed, I felt that part of the story lacked depth. But all in all, I enjoyed Cross Checked very much. The characters were very true to life and the story was very entertaining.
Low Blow: Ms. Mazzola is fast becoming one of my favourite authors and Low Blow has made it official, she is one of the best authors I've read in along time. This story uses every emotion possible and broke my heart at times and then brought tears of joy as the hero and heroine find their own peace and joy in each other as they celebrate being together. The main premiss of the story is Griff, a sixteen year old teen who has to have a heart transplant. Years later, he feels a need to meet the daughter of whose father's heart saved his life and still beat safely in his chest. Yep! It's a tear jerker all round and definitely a must read, I highly recommend it.
Playoff Beard: Crosby had some bad luck with his cheating ex-wife, he's steered clear since then, just the occasional one night stands but definitely no relationships. But what he doesn't expect is his changing feelings for a certain bartender he's known for years, namely Jordan. And upon further chats with her, he's thrilled to learn she is quite willing to indulge in some erotic fun and games, sex toys included. This is a steamy addition to the series. Not much hockey going on but the sexy action is hot, hot, hot. But is it enough, will Cosby and Jordan face their true feelings. A good friends to lovers romance and appearances from his team mates make this a great read. I highly recommend it!
Off Duty: A nice read. Sean and Jessica are NYPD partners who's feelings for each other have developed beyond friendship, they know it's wrong as partners are off limits, so they each keep their feelings to them selves. But how can they carry on this way? They both feel like they are living in a live time bomb.
This book was not as entertaining as the previous Shots on Goal stories, I found it a little confusing at times and had to back track several times to get the plot straight in my mind. I think if it wasn't a novella, more time could have been spent on the flash backs and it wouldn't have been a problem.
But in hindsight, the story was an enjoyable fast read once you have "got" the plot. There's tension when a friend needs their professional help which adds some suspense. And I liked Sean and Jessica but would have liked to have seen more of their growing relationship, but there was added previous characters which is nice, but that's novella's for you.
In this boxset you get to fall in love over and over again. Set in New York with Otters hockey team centerstage Shots on goal exposes you to the romances of the team captain Gavin Hayes, the elusive Brayden Cox, and gorgeous goalie Will Crosby. You will also be blessed with a few surprises along the way, like Low Blow. This girl wasn’t expecting a fighter insta-love story in the midst of a fantastic hockey series. Who would have thought that the son who wasn’t cut out for the ice would be a winner in the ring. Griffin Hayes is the younger brother of The New York Otters captain Gavin Hayes, who feels as though he lives a little in the shadows. Not just the shadow of his brother’s fame or his father’s disappointment, but of his own expectations and the feeling that he owes someone to make the most of his life, but he isn’t sure how. On this search Griffin meets Olive and his heart beats faster and harder than he has ever experienced and he knows things are just RIGHT. Dive in and see the sparks fly in this fantastic, hard hitting romance.
Loved Gavin and Myla. They had such a connection from the start. Gavin May have been a golden boy but he had a past that him damaged but once meeting Myla he knew she was it for him. I loved Mylas character and how she didn’t take crap from anyone. I hope to learn more about these characters through out this series.
Brayden and Karla, OMG are perfect for each other. I loved how strong Karla was standing up for herself. I hope they do one day get married.
I love how Griff and Liv are connected. Yes the whole your dad saved my life is weird but for 10yrs he has been missing something and it always reverted back to his donor. Their love was destined.
Chase and Nikki’s are just so cute! I love how they met and had insta love and attraction.
Jordan and Crosby were a perfect match!! Their attraction was so strong that their relationship is just undeniable.
Lastly, you have Sean and Jess. They became best friends that fell in love. Hey when you know you just know.
Oh lord I loved this book!!! Even though I was crying in the first bit of it!! But even though this is a short read this book packs a punch. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down and I really didn’t want it to end. I mean I’ll tell you right now how much I didn’t want it to end, you know those sucky people that take Stars way for stupid reasons like they didn’t want it to end ( not long enough) yeah if I was one of those people that is how bad I wanted this book to continue with Griff and Liv.... lol 😂. And the connection that Griff and Liv have from the very beginning, gahhh I just love it, I just loved all of it. Most of the secondary characters I absolutely loved even the ones I didn’t played their purpose. I really can’t wait to meet them in their books. I highly recommend this book!!
I have been anxious to read the Shots on Goal series and I am loving that it's all nicely put into a box set. I will be diving into the entire series soon.
This review if for Low Blow.
Low Blow is a quick and easy read about a man and a woman who have more of a connection than anyone could imagine. Griffin and Olive are dealt hard blows early in life. Their bond is instant once they meet. I love how they don’t waste time in getting to know each other. Their feelings are valid, and their moments together are hot.
The author brings in characters from previous stories, but Low Blow can be read as a standalone. Low Blow is easily a one sitting read so one-click it today.
I have read all 5 books in this series and I love that they are now available in a boxset. I can’t wait to read the exclusive content. These books are fantastic. They are romantic and who doesn’t love hot hockey players and a police officer. They characters are so great. They are family and would anything for each other. I highly recommend this boxset and all of Kristen’s books. I can’t get enough of these characters. I hope there will be more books to come with them in it.
This box set is a great string of sports romance books that highlights a group of misfits that find their true loves among each other. Each individual story has its own characters that develop and find their HEA love story.
I really enjoyed this box set but it seemed like some of the stories were out order so it was hard to follow the timelines. Cherry Picked was my favorite of the set.
I loved every book in this series. The bonus chapters in this box set were great. This is definitely a series you should read if you like hot hockey gods!!
This a review of Book 4 - Low Blow --- This is such a good story. Both Griffin and Olive have been through so much. I loved the characters so much. You will need tissues to get through this story!
I have read all the books in this series. Some I was fortunate enough to get an ARC for. and others I purchased because the series is that good. You will fall in love with all of them too. Trust me. It's not all about hockey but definitely all the books revolve around it and have connecting characters. Definitely a must read.
This is a great box set. Filled with great romances. Here's my review for Low Blow, book 4 of the box set. Low Blow is a great fast paced quick read. It's the 4th book in the series and can be read as a standalone. Told in both Liv and Griffin's POV. The writing is great and sucks you into the story. Both Liv and Griffin are missing something in their lives. Neither knows what it is. Until Griffin walks into Liv's shop. I enjoyed Low Blow. It was a very quick read with an HEA.
This book gives you hope in a happy ever after. With great characters that have depth and history. This is a shorter story but you feel like you have known the characters and are rooting for them to get the happiness they deserve.
