Mr. Darcy's Devotion: a steamy Pride & Prejudice romance

Rate this book
Just how far does his devotion go? Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth are engaged, but Mr. Bennet will not give his consent. Citing Elizabeth's own words regarding the man she once hated, her father declares he will never give consent to the marriage. But nothing will stand between Mr. Darcy and the woman he loves. What might have happened if, when Mr. Darcy had asked Mr. Bennet permission to wed Elizabeth, Mr. Bennet had steadfastly refused, believing himself to be acting in his daughter's best interest? A promise is a promise in this steamy Pride & Prejudice variation romance. This story features characters from Jane Austen's beloved novel. It should not be expected to function as literary fiction, but rather as a fantasy romance with high steam levels, appropriate only for responsible readers of a certain age. Have a look at Parts 1 and 2 (Mr. Darcy's Darkness and Mr. Darcy's Desire) for more steamy fantasy romances featuring Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet.

Job well done! It's amazing all the key elements the author managed to hit in this book in such a little amount of time. Darcy's Darkness and Darcy's Desire had there flaws for me but this one being the last one in the boxed set was by far the best. The thing that made this book work for me was the author made the characters her own. The complaints I found in Darcy's Desire are corrected in this little gem. The book begins after D&E have confessed their love and Darcy is asking Mr. Bennet for his consent. I do not want to say too much so I will highlight what really sold this tale.

D&E are at the point where there is mutual respect and affection for the other. It changed the feel from her previous stories. The personalities are not loose and wild in a sensual manner but a closer feel to what we would expect from our couple. They are eager to begin their life together and the affection is undeniable. Darcy exerts his need to take control of the situation, which is sexy on its own, but still shows patience for Lizzy's feelings. They try to do what's right, which helped show me the integrity and respect they had for those they loved but in the end nothing would stop them from displaying their devotion for each other.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is open to a passionate D&E and this can also be bought outside the boxed set and is a stand alone. Pearl made me a believer of the couples love and showed more effort proving the different dimensions of the couple. They were playful, passionate, devoted, sensual and sexy. If I had any complaints of course it would be the length. I'm a selfish creature I want more time with my couple. The other two things are minor. First I did not like that Lizzy could not call Fitzwilliam by his Christian name but instead they decide she call him Mr. Darcy. It was weird and gave a creepy feel for me. Like he's a teacher or elder who should be addressed with formality. Not what I want to read when Lizzy is trying to appeal on an intimate level. Some may find it kinky, to each their own.

The other mentionable is I wanted to see Lizzy reunite with the Bennets. The book leaves off with you drawing your own conclusion and Lizzy reassuring you that everything would be as it should. I have one more of this authors books that I want to check out. Its called Darcy's Defiance it's got a lot to live up to after this one. Perfect example though how you can love some books by an author and shake your head at another. Enjoy!

Entertaining

Unfortunately had a hard time getting past the issues of the time-line (Longbourne to Scotland same day), and both Darcy and Elizabeth's relatively quick agreement to elope. But for a quick read with a little steam, enjoyable.
