This book had so much potential but it just fell flat for me. I felt there was too much change in POV. One minute the poem was about someone and in the next it was about the poet. The layout of the book had no flow and seemed to jump from one thought idea to the next and then back again. One page may be about pain the next about being healed and then the next about the healing process. I may try this book again, maybe it’s just not coinciding with my mood. This read, however, was a complete let down.

I love this collection. Every single piece said something to me. It was confrontational, and empowering, and is everything I need at this moment.

This is a collection for anyone who has been down trodden, and made to fell less than they are. Its full of affirmation and encouragement that you are stronger than you can imagine, and that you deserve to be you above all else.

Poetry is very personal. Some resonate, others don't. I can't tell you to read this. I cant tell you that you will love it. I can encourage you to read it, and make your own judgements though.

I do appreciate the well-intentioned effort to empower women somehow but... To sum up my déjà vu: thoughts on these kinds of poetry collections in this review. One curious thing I didn't mention is that they all lack capitalization.

a quick read but i am glad i read it.
for awhile, i did not enjoy reading sin's work.
after reading reading 4 or his books i only enjoyed
2 (Whiskey, Words, and a Shovel I & Rest in the Mourning)
until today.

i think this book called out lovers on their bullshit
and pointed out their own shortcomings.
how we give so much and have nothing to show for it
but sadness and self-doubt all because we wanted to find
a home in someone else.

A couple of phrases in this book were well-said, but the rest of it read like a moody teen who decided to publish her diary. I didn’t realize until the end that this particular book was written by a moody grown man (one who doesn’t know the difference between its and it’s, but I digress). It was not good.

The numbers “121914” are not a poem. Neither is “1:11...” and I’m getting really tired of ~flowery~ short sentences being passed off as poetry.

Also, ocean and moon metaphors belong to women, not men. Ugh.

I'm pretty disappointed. This book is everything classic poet lovers stereotype contemporary poetry as. Very cliche, didn't make sense at times, and had no flow altogether as a whole. It has the ambiance of being written by a middle schooler who just discovered The Smiths and saw her ex-boyfriend of 2 weeks sharing chicken fingers with her gym class enemy.

What a great collection for 99 cents???

Very much tailored for girls post break up so if that's not your situation, it will be tiresome. It was a bit much at times in the sense of "you missed out on a great girl!!! let's describe how great she is!!". But for the price and for the page length I think it did what it was trying to do.

This poetry collection by far is my favourite one out of all R.H. Sin's works. The thing I loved most about it was the depth. Sure, it could have passed as some simple post from Tumblr (as is usual in some of his pieces, to be honest), but I found that I didn't mind that as much. The collection talked about love, heartache, self-love and everything that comes with those things.

This one had so much more of a poetic feeling to it. I was actually surprised, considering R.H. Sin has a thing for random, quite pointless line breaks.

Initially, I rated this 4 stars when I wrote this in as RTC but now, I'd forgotten why I didn't go for a full five, and I'm willing to overlook that because I only remember how touching this was to read. There's nothing else for me to say, really. Just that it was remarkable.

I really wanted to like this and it's the last poem I intended to read (at least for now), so I'm kinda disappointed.

There were sometimes just random numbers, without context and the 'I' was always in lowercase which annoyed me a lot.

Most of the things were unoriginal (already heard somewhere else) and it felt a bit like these 'go girl' or 'depressed girl' poems. If you can even call it poems as once again it's a collection with just short sentences that DO NOT ryhme. Poems should ryhme.

Also I disliked the way how the 'father' seemed to be the bad dude here. Like not everyone who attracts bad people have daddy issues. It can also have other reasons, but most people aren't aware of it, and as it seems, including this author. Therefore the book felt a bit sexistic as literally any man is pictured in a bad light.

Don't buy this book, all the things said there you can find somewhere online for free.

This is collection of poems that I want to gift to so many women, all over the world; friends, family members and strangers. Because who hasn’t felt like this? Who hasn’t been left feeling broken after a relationship has ended? Who hasn’t been disappointed by someone who was meant to love them unconditionally? It’s a universal feeling, and Sin encapsulates it so beautifully in just 72 pages. I’m (thankfully) no longer in a place where these poems really hit home for me, but I’d strongly recommend any woman to read it. Know your self-worth.

This collection of “poetry” is emblematic of the worst of the millennial tumblr definition of poetry. Which is to say, there are entire pages of a single four/five word line that trees had to be sacrificed for. These are not profound lines either, they are simply taking up space to elongate what should have been a short 36 page collection. I have not counted, but the one-to-three line pages are surely enough to double the length of the collection to its 72 page count (and by the way, the final few pages are blank).

Moreover, the premise of this poetry collection seems to be nothing more than Nice Guy Wants Girl Who Loves “Bad Boys.” Literally. The whole “she doesn’t see me but she loves the wrong person” is the entire point of this whole collection of misguided poetry.

The author goes a step further and introduces daddy issues to the girl(s) in question near the end. Also, a line seems to imply molestation. Basically, the author is looking for any excuse as to why this girl doesn’t love him, beside the obvious “she’s just not that into you, bro.”

Two pros for this collection (hence the two star rating):

1. A very easy and very quick read.

2. There are a few pages of decent poetry.

That’s it. The collection cost me less than $4 dollars on Amazon; I do not feel robbed. However, I do not find this book worthy of praise in any fashion. Being that this is my only exposure to this author, I have no plans to pursue any other of his works.

This one is one if his short poetry collections ever. I wanted more.
As usual, he is talking about love, hurt and all that stupid realistic stuff which I can only feel but I really don't know if others feel that too.

I would like to say that not all women are hurt. Not all women need to stay strong. Not all women needs constant attention. But bleh, I am a romantic!

You’ve fallen for someone who will never be able to be brave enough to fall for you

This book had a lot of potential. Originally, I was going to give this four stars, but thinking about it more and more, the book wasn’t as memorable as I would have liked, so overall I am going to give it 3.5/5 stars.

I really enjoyed the poems and the book itself, but the book wasn’t memorable and I think that’s because it was a bit too simple. I think R.H Sin’s goal was to empower women and empathize with bad experiences in relationships, but it was very unpredictable in the sense that I loved some but thought others were just okay.

Poetry is either a hit and miss, so if this book resonated with you, that’s awesome, but this book just missed its mark with me. Overall, this was a one-sitting read, and I am glad I took the time to give it a go.

Every time I read poetry written by R.H. Sin, I remember why he is one of my favorite writers.
His words are intoxicating but in a way that brightens my soul instead of darkening it.

I don't read poetry often enough.

For me, it is one of the most cleansing things I can read. It touches old wounds, but it also empowers me to heal.

R.H Sin is an incredible writer and even if you don't like poetry you should try reading some of his work. I guarantee you will relate to it more than you think you will.

I resolved to add more poetry to my reading list in 2018, so I picked this one up. Some interesting short lines would make for a good moody Instagram post, but as a poetry collection it fell flat for me.

Maybe something just rubs me the wrong way about a man projecting feelings on a woman, especially about a failed relationship. It did not resonate with me.

I am usually a fan of this Rupi Kaur style, contemporary poetry. I had huge hopes for it, I loved the title and I wanted it resonate with me as previous poetry I’ve read has done, where I go back to it yearning for the life lessons the words fed me. However, it did massively disappoint. Overall, the structure of the poems were set up in was incoherent and lacked flow - the poetry seemed shoved in and even rushed at times - like they had pages to fill so resorted to numbers (‘1:11’ - What is the context behind that?) I will give it some credit (hence the 1 star), as about three of the poems were interesting and I could relate to them. Ultimately though, if you’re searching for a beautiful poetry collection that will move you and force you to come back to read it time and time again, I’d recommend you look elsewhere.
